WICKETpublished at 16:34 BST 10 September

    Zaib c Edavalath b Mir 24 (Northants 90-4 v Worcs - target 94)

First-innings centurion Saif Zaib tries to win the game with a six but doesn't get the distance and is caught in the deep by Rehaan Edavalath.

Three wickets now for Usama Mir, but that's the only consolation for Worcestershire.

  2. Postpublished at 16:33 BST 10 September

    Hants 33-6 v Notts - target 178

A rare half-volley from Dillon Pennington and Ben Mayes does not waste the opportunity to open his account with a cover drive for four.

  3. Postpublished at 16:32 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 220-5

The light has improved a little at Hove with brighter skies visible from the west.

The Sussex spin duo of Carson and Coles continue ahead of the new ball, due in five overs.

Adam Thomas is back and across to Jack Carson, pushing to long on for a single.

    76 overs bowled.

  4. Postpublished at 16:31 BST 10 September

    Northants 87-3 v Worcs - target 94

George Bartlett lofts Usama Mir down the ground for four and Northants are almost there at New Road.

  5. Bad light stops play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:31 BST 10 September

    Durham v Middlesex 55-2 - target 424

Durham's pursuit of wickets is halted two balls into Kasey Aldridge's second over as the umpires come together.

The floodlights are already on at Chester-le-Street, the light meters are out and the players are coming off.

We have a possible 29.4 more overs of cricket this evening, but this is surely going to shave a chunk off that.

Promotion may have to wait for another day.

  6. Postpublished at 16:30 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 218-5

Flighted from James Coles. Mahipal Lomror drops the ball safely into the off side for no run.

He'll keep the strike with a single to mid off.

  7. Carse out of Durham attackpublished at 16:29 BST 10 September

    Durham v Middlesex 55-2 - target 424

Brydon Carse is out of the Durham attack and Kasey Aldridge has come in at one end with Ben Raine switching to the other.

A good opening burst from Carse though with 2-20 from his five overs.

  9. Postpublished at 16:28 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 216-5

Adam Thomas is back and across to Jack Carson, punching to long one for one.

That's the 50 partnership with Mahipal Lomror in 90 balls.

  10. Postpublished at 16:27 BST 10 September

    Northants 74-3 v Worcs (target 94)

Mini-crisis averted by Northants as Saif Zaib carves a wide ball from Usama Mir for four, then adds another with a reverse sweep.

Just 20 more needed by the promotion-chasing victors.

  11. Postpublished at 16:25 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 214-5

Double change. Left arm spinner James Coles is coming on, bowling around the wicket to Adam Thomas.

A cut shot is stopped by Jack Carson at backward point.

Single to Thomas in the covers. Single to Lomror.

A full toss is clipped away by Thomas for two.

The follow on target is 243 and Surrey look highly likely to pass that.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:23 BST 10 September

    Brown c McCann b Stone 8 (Hants 27-6 v Notts - target 178)

    Astonishing.

Ben Brown edges to second slip and Freddie McCann takes the catch in front of face.

Brown was in two minds whether to leave that alone - but he didn't

This is high quality bowling from Olly Stone and Dillon Pennington, who have three wickets each.

  13. Bad light stops play at Derbypublished at 16:22 BST 10 September

    Kent 3-0 v Derbys (Target: 434)

    We are going off again.

This seems a little farcical in truth - we have begun the fourth innings with spin only but, after only nine balls of the chase we are back off again.

  14. Postpublished at 16:20 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 210-5

Jack Carson is back in the attack - replacing Tom Haines.

Adam Thomas defends on the back foot.

Thomas pulls to long on via the toe end of his bat for one.

Carson flights one and Lomror blocks into the leg side.

WICKETpublished at 16:19 BST 10 September

    Weatherley c Hay b Pennington 8 (Hants 27-5 v Notts - target 178)

    Dillon PenningtonImage source, Shutterstock

"Absolutely unplayable - all you can do is hope you don't get a nick on it," says BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James.

Extra lift from just short of a length by Dillon Pennington, Joe Weatherley doesn't think he touched it, but the umpire disagrees.

That is the 18th wicket of the day at Trent Bridge.

  16. Postpublished at 16:18 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 209-5

Four more to Mahipal Lomror, rolling his wrists and turning Tom Haines to fine leg for four.

Sean Hunt is round the wicket to Adam Thomas and he'll get one clipped into the leg side.

Lomror works a ball to leg but there's no run.

In theory 33 overs remain tonight, though the overhead conditions will have to improve markedly to get close to that tally.

SOMERSET BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY 377 RUNSpublished at 16:16 BST 10 September

    Gilchrist lbw Leach 2 (Leicestershire 145 & 157 v Somerset 363 & 316-5d

Somerset win at Grace RoadImage source, Shutterstock

    That is that!

Jack Leach traps Nathan Gilchrist in front and the umpire puts the finger up - it is all over at Grace Road.

It is just the 377 runs by the margin of victory.

Somerset return to the top of the County Championship table and take 22 points from this outing, with two more matches remaining of a gripping season.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:15 BST 10 September

    Robson c Robinson b Carse 11 (Durham v Middlesex 47-2 - target 424)

Two for Brydon Carse, two for Durham and eight more needed for Division One cricket!

Carse's height and bounce does the trick with this delivery as it spooks Sam Robson into fending away from his body outside off.

Regulation stuff for Ollie Robinson with the gloves and Carse wheels off a la Alan Shearer with the catch taken.

He has 2-19 in his 4.5 overs so far.

  19. Postpublished at 16:13 BST 10 September

    Hants 22-4 v Notts (target 178)

Cometh the hour, cometh the man - is that man Ben Brown for Hampshire?

He clips Olly Stone off his toes for four and finds the boundary again as he pulls a short one from Dillon Pennington in the next over.

  20. The chase begins at Derbypublished at 16:13 BST 10 September

    Kent 0-0 v Derbys, target 434

We are back out at Derby. Light remains a problem - at least that must be the explanation as to why Derbyshire are opening with spin.

It is England internationals Shoaib Bashir versus Zak Crawley.
