Henry Nicholls is proving to be a great signing for Somerset. A previously frail top five are now all in great form at the most crucial time of the season. Maybe this could finally be the year?

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:23 BST 10 September

    Lancashire 5-1 v Glos - target 248

It really should be 4-2 and two wickets in two balls for JT Langridge!

The left-armer sends one across new batter Harry Singh, who goes for the drive and gets a massive edge.

It flies into the slip cordon where Ollie Price goes for it from second but he can't hang on.

It was a very catchable height and it may have been Ed Middleton's at first, but it is a big reprieve for Singh.

  3. Postpublished at 12:22 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 57-3

Left arm spinner James Coles is bowling for the first time in the match.

One slip in - and there's a hint of turn as Ben Foakes plays into the off side, getting right to the pitch of the ball.

Ryan Patel is almost cut in half by Jaydev Unadkat in the next over as the ball is over the stumps and through him.

    Hurst b Langridge 0 (Lancs 4-1 - target 248)

    What a delivery this is!

JT Langridge, complete with his headband, with an absolute pearler to dismiss makeshift opener Matty Hurst.

It's an unplayable leg-stump yorker from the left-armer that wipes out the stumps with Hurst unable to stop it.

Mitchell Starc or Wasim Akram would have been proud of that ball!

    Waite lbw Chahal 3 (Worcs 200 & 123-6 v Northants 289)

Northants turn to spin with just a few minutes to go before lunch and what a shrewd move it is by Luke Procter as Yuzi Chahal hits Matthew Waite on the toe of his boot as he plays down the wrong line and his appeal is upheld by the umpire.

Brett D'Oliveira is 45 not out, but badly needs someone to stay with him as Worcestershire look to stretch a lead which is currently only 34.

    Elgar c Bairstow b Hill 4 - Yorkshire 390 v Essex 171 & 13-1 f/o

    Has he nicked that? Yes.

A good low catch by keeper-captain Jonny Bairstow and George Hill has struck early.

Dean Elgar had been looking to defend with a little gap between bat and pad.

The opener stands his ground - but the umpire has given it.

Essex captain Tom Wesley to bat next.

When Hampshire are bowling, it's usually Kyle Abbott who makes the initial breakthrough - not today.

Eddie Jack produces a superb leg-cutter and Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed feathers a catch to the keeper.

"If you get the ball in the right areas, you will be rewarded. That's a really good delivery," says BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James.

    Leicestershire 0-0 v Somerset (Target: 523)

Lewis Gregory begins the fourth innings in Leicester, bowling at Rishi Patel, with a maiden.

    Derbys 189-4 & 300 v Kent 219

Martin Andersson has just lifted Bertie Foreman back over his head for six. That was a mighty blow.

Derbyshire are now 270 runs ahead of Kent and Andersson has moved quickly onto 45.

  10. 50 runs

50 up for Surreypublished at 12:12 BST 10 September

    Sussex 393 v Surrey 50-3

Ben Foakes is half forward to Tom Haines, defending into the offside.

The third ball of the over is clipped square and Foakes is off the mark to his fourth ball.

That's also the Surrey 50 in the 24th over. It's been a tough shift with the bat this morning.

    Melinda Farrell

  12. 300 up for Durhampublished at 12:10 BST 10 September

    Durham 252 & 304-4 v Middlesex 203

That is a thumping way to bring up Durham's 300 as Ben McKinney emphatically pulls out a reverse sweep to Zafar Gofar to send it to the rope at point.

Durham's lead ticks past 350 as well, although they are not in full-on declaration mode yet.

Colin Ackermann has 21 from 47 balls and Middlesex's bowling has been tighter in the second half of the morning.

  13. Postpublished at 12:09 BST 10 September

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 171 & 9-0 f/o

Another play and miss from Dean Elgar, facing the ever dangerous George Hill. Elgar survives.

Paul Walter punches a ball from Jack White into the off side but there's no run.

A straight ball is whipped square and well stopped by Matthew Revis.

There's no stopping this delightful drive down the ground though.

    Four runs.

  14. SOMERSET DECLARE ON 316-5published at 12:08 BST 10 September

    Somerset 316-5d & 363 v Leicestershire 157

    Henry NichollsImage source, Shutterstock

Somerset waited until Henry Nicholls had brought up his century, in 112 balls, and they have now declared on 316-5.

They will now have a go at Leicestershire's top order before lunch. The hosts are chasing a modest 523 for victory.

  15. 100 runs

100 for Henry Nichollspublished at 12:05 BST 10 September

    Somerset 310-5 & 363 v Leicestershire 157

    That is Henry Nicholls' century!

There has been some brutal hitting this morning from the New Zealander, but also some classy shots, too. Nathan Gilchrist bowls a wide ball outside of off and Nicholls helps it on its way to the point boundary.

  16. wicket

    Pope b Haines 2 - Sussex 393 v Surrey 47-3

Ollie Pope had been playing solidly into the off side without quite managing to get the ball away - and now he's the third wicket to fall this morning.

He's forward to Tom Haines to defend and the ball has crept past him to clip the top of off stump. Ben Foakes is in.

  17. Lancashire begin run chasepublished at 12:03 BST 10 September

    Lancashire 0-0 v Glos - target 248

Keaton Jennings and Matty Hurst are out in the middle to begin the fourth innings of this match.

Jennings is going to face on-loan Somerset bowler and left-armer JT Langridge first up.

  18. Postpublished at 12:03 BST 10 September

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 171 & 4-0 f/o

No runs forthcoming for Essex - who are very much in survival mode at this stage.

    Three successive Yorkshire maidens.

Jack White is into his second over from the Howard Stand End with three slips in place.

Runs for Dean Elgar with a thick outside edge on the drive between the slips and point for four.

Ball change at Grace Roadpublished at 12:01 BST 10 September

    Somerset 310-5 & 363 v Leicestershire 157

As Henry Nicholls lifts yet another six, we have a ball change.

    Nicholls is now on 96.

Why are Somerset not prioritising first ever CC title over Henry Nicholls' 24th FC century? Mind-boggling...

  20. Postpublished at 12:00 BST 10 September

    Notts 377 & 6-0 v Hants 304

Pressure on the Notts batters now.

A lead of 73 means they need to bat positively to give their bowlers enough time to bowl Hampshire out a second time.

Ben Slater has been passed fit to bat despite the blow on the arm from Eddie Jack that he suffered in the first innings and prevented him fielding this morning.

"It's just interesting that (Jake) Lehmann is off the field after batting for quite a while," says BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James.
