    2UP Henseleit/Maguire v Lee/Duncan (12)

Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan have been beaten up a bit at times by Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit but the Americans, being Americans, won't go quietly and are fighting to the end.

They salvage the 12th hole with a half to stay just two back and that can change very quickly in foursomes.

It's a busy weekend of golf and the DP World Tour's Irish Open is into day two.

    Hull/Woad v Corpuz/Korda 5UP (13)

Oh dear! Europe's top pair make more mistakes as the USA win another hole to go dormie five in golfing speak - five up with five to play meaning that they are guaranteed at least half a point and cannot lose this match now.

Of course, they'll now look to close out an emphatic win in the next hole or two and it shouldn't take too long as both Charley Hull and Lottie Woad look utterly deflated by the entire experience this morning.

Woad tried too much with a chip that stuck into a slope on the green before Hull blazed her putt miles past the hole. Woad made the one coming back but it was all too sloppy and left Nelly Korda an easy task to claim the hole.

It's been hugely disappointing stuff from Europe's lead-off pair.

  4. US back in bottom matchpublished at 09:36 BST 11 September

    2UP Stark/Grant v Zhang/Kupcho (11)

A fightback in the bottom match.

About 10 minutes ago Maja Stark and Linn Grant were cruising but Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho have halved their deficit.

They win the short 11th with a birdie after Zhang's tee shot landed four feet from the hole and Kupcho holes the putt.

Grant had already missed from around 18 feet.

  5. Big roar on the 12th green...published at 09:31 BST 11 September

    Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Coughlin/Lee 2UP (12)

...and that can mean only one thing. Nanna Koerstz Madsen has drained the 25-footer for birdie!

And that means Alison Lee's pin-seeker is not going to lead to another hole win for the US. Lauren Coughlin knocks in the birdie putt for a half. Great match play.

    2UP Henseleit/Maguire v Lee/Duncan (11)

Europe restore their two-hole advantage in this one on the 11th and it's richly deserved with the way Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire have played this morning.

There's still plenty of mileage left in this match but the European pair are well on top.

  7. US get a hole backpublished at 09:28 BST 11 September

    3UP Stark/Grant v Zhang/Kupcho (10)

The bottom match is on the 10th green. Maja Stark has a birdie chance for Europe but leaves it above ground.

That leaves the American pair with two putts to win the hole after Rose Zhang powered her second shot on the green to leave Jennifer Kupcho a 12-footer for eagle.

Stark signals that Kupcho doesn't need to putt. Hole conceded.

Kupcho takes the putt anyway (as you are allowed to do for practice) and she drains it. Easy when the pressure is off.

  8. All over?published at 09:26 BST 11 September

    Hull/Woad v Corpuz/Korda 4UP (12)

Lottie Woad of Team Europe and Charley HullImage source, Getty Images

It is a 4up lead for the USA in this top match and with just six holes left to play surely this one is all over bar the shouting?

  9. Team Europe winning experiencepublished at 09:24 BST 11 September

Not as many majors on the European team but still plenty of winning experience, overall there's more tournament wins in this team than the USA squad.

Even in terms of the LPGA if you take out Nelly Korda then the 11 remaining USA players haven't even won as many LPGA events as Europe.

So perhaps there's an underlying strength in depth here in terms of getting tournaments over the line?

  10. Postpublished at 09:24 BST 11 September

    Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Coughlin/Lee 2UP (11)

Celine Boutier has been a bit all over the shop this morning but from the middle of the 12th fairway, she finally fires one at the pin. Her ball trundles 25 feet past the hole though.

Alison Lee doesn't appear to like her shot into the green but I'm not sure why?! She's hit a pin-seeker into around three feet. Big chance for the US to open up a commanding lead here.

  11. Team USA winning experiencepublished at 09:24 BST 11 September

A load of tournament wins here, but Nelly Korda does a lot of that heavy lifting, and if you just count LPGA sanctioned events she has 19 and the rest of the team combined have just 15.

  12. As it stands...published at 09:22 BST 11 September

All four foursomes matches are now past the front nine at the Bernardus Golf Course and although USA's red dominates the first two matches.

Team Europe have some blue on the leaderboard for captain Anna Nordqvist.

  13. Get Involved: USA the stronger team?published at 09:22 BST 11 September

    Solheim Cup

I disagree about there not being a lot between them. The average European ranking is 55 whereas the average USA ranking is 39. It's not just about the top few players.

    Mark from Portsmouth

Thoughts folks? While I agree that on paper the USA team looks stronger on the rankings, that doesn't always translate into matchplay events does it? There's also plenty of tournament wins in the European team, more than the USA team in fact so that could also count for a lot....

Make sure to let us know your thoughts.

  14. Swedes scramblingpublished at 09:19 BST 11 September

    4UP Stark/Grant v Zhang/Kupcho (8)

Linn Grant plays a controlled shot out of the heather but she can't reach the green, her ball trundling into a bunker.

And a first big error from the Swedes as Maja Stark leaves her ball in the sand. But this hole isn't over yet. Linn Grant has holed from the bunker for par!

Rose Zhang still has a chance to win the hole. But rather than thinking they might have two to claw back a hole, this must now go in... 20 feet, left-to-right... wanders off right. Hole halved. Somehow!

  15. Boutier big puttpublished at 09:16 BST 11 September

    Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Coughlin/Lee 2UP (11)

From pin-high just off the left edge of the 11th green and Nanna Koerstz Madsen is a little aggressive with her chip, the ball kicking on a good six feet past the hole.

Lauren Coughlin has a 20-footer to win the hole but that never threatens to drop.

Celine Boutier needs to hole this to stay within touching distance. She does. Big putt.

  16. Troublepublished at 09:16 BST 11 September

    Hull/Woad v Corpuz/Korda 3UP (11)

Allisen Corpuz sticks one in close on the 12th while Lottie Woad is hitting out of the rough, catches it fat and sees her ball drop into the ditch in front of the green.

    Four-hole lead loading....

  18. Recent Solheim Cup resultspublished at 09:10 BST 11 September

    Solheim Cup recent results

It's currently level in the foursomes and that could be a theme for the entire tournament given how close recent Solheim Cup results have been.

  19. Postpublished at 09:09 BST 11 September

    Koerstz Madsen/Boutier v Coughlin/Lee 2UP (10)

Celine Boutier playing military golf right now. She was right down the ninth and 10th, she's left on the par-three 11th.

It's not disastrous, just off the edge of the putting surface, but Alison Lee has already found the green.

  20. Great puttspublished at 09:08 BST 11 September

    Hull/Woad v Corpuz/Korda 3UP (11)

Allisen Corpuz drains the putt on 11 to the surprise of absolutely nobody that's been watching her play this morning.

Lottie Woad has all the pressure on her to respond but respond she does, matching Corpuz to halve the hole and stay three back.

It's getting closer to the end the way this USA pair are playing but Europe's job now is to drag this out as long as possible and hope for some frustration to kick in.
