GOAL - Birmingham 1-1 Brentfordpublished at 20:27 BST 25 August

    Demarai Gray (28 mins)

The free-kick is taken short to Demarai Gray, he takes a touch out of his feet and drills one through the players in the box and past Hakon Valdimarsson.

    Trouble for Brentford now.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:27 BST 25 August

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Leeds

Jannik Schuster has the ball taken off his toe deep in his own half by Luis Vazquez and the Brentford defender makes the decision to bring him down and take the yellow card.

Vazquez made sure it was a booking, too.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:27 BST 25 August

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Leeds

Leeds' Ao Tanaka hacks down Igor Jesus and gets a yellow card.

  4. Leeds 'upping the tempo of the game'published at 20:26 BST 25 August

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Leeds

    Brian Laws
Former Nottingham Forest defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Leeds have played it really well, little triangle and whipped the ball down the right hand side. James was in acres of space, Longstaff is picked out and should've scored really. It was a glorious chance. Probably the best chance of the night so far.

Leeds are upping the tempo of the game.

  5. Postpublished at 20:26 BST 25 August

    Ipswich 0-0 Leicester

Harry Howell injects a bit of pace into Leicester's attack and goes inside to Conor Chaplin.

The former Ipswich man has eyes on the bottom corner but forces Christian Walton into the save.

GOAL - Stoke 1-0 Hullpublished at 20:24 BST 25 August

    Róbert Bozeník

    The Championship side are ahead!

Sorba Thomas is always a threat with his crosses and it is no surprise that one of them leads to a goal as he picks out Róbert Bozeník to head in.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:23 BST 25 August

    Birmingham 0-1 Brentford

That's a huge chance for Birmingham.

The corner is deep and Hakon Valdimarsson is pinned to his line but Christoph Klarer heads wide from about four yards out.

  8. Postpublished at 20:23 BST 25 August

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Leeds

Big chance for Leeds. Dan James beats the offside trap, gets to the byeline and cuts it back for Sean Longstaff - but his first-time effort is straight at Matz Sels.

  9. Postpublished at 20:21 BST 25 August

    Ipswich 0-0 Leicester

It's all well and good wanting to play the ball out around the back but you need the players to do so.

Jakub Stolarczyk tries to pick out his left-back but pings it into the crowd.

The long throw-in is getting very fashionable. Both teams are using it and adopting it in their own ways.

A few years ago, it was being frowned upon.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:20 BST 25 August

    Ipswich 0-0 Leicester

Better from Ipswich now. They're seeing more of the ball and force Jakub Stolarczyk into a fine save.

I think it even bounces off his own man from the corner.

  12. Postpublished at 20:19 BST 25 August

    Stoke 0-0 Hull

A decent attack by Stoke ends with Sorba Thomas finding Tomas Rigo, who sends a shot just over.

  13. Postpublished at 20:19 BST 25 August

    Plymouth 1-2 Coventry

Plymouth have responded very well to going two goals behind and Harvey White volleys wide from 20 yards.

Leeds not created much yet. Lukas Nmecha had an effort blocked and Ao Tanaka fired over.

  15. Postpublished at 20:17 BST 25 August

    Ipswich 0-0 Leicester

Jakub Stolarczyk makes a real mess of trying to punch the corner clear and the ball ends up bouncing off the bar.

A foul is given in favour of the Leicester keeper but I think he's rather lucky there.

Both teams will have come into this game having to stay positive. They'll recognise they'll have to play well to get this done in 90 minutes.

They might as well play off the front foot and really go for it.

  17. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:17 BST 25 August

    Plymouth 1-2 Coventry

Plymouth are inches away from being level. Dan Bentley spills a long-range effort but the keeper makes amends by deflecting the follow-up effort from Will Hughes onto the post.

Brentford looking quite bright here. I know it's only early in the competition but they could go far.

  19. Cardiff's defensive injury crisis gets worsepublished at 20:15 BST 25 August

    Cardiff 0-1 Norwich

Noah Anyadike's debut at 15 years and 98 days comes to an early end as he hobbles off at the Cardiff City Stadium.

You would hope that is only a precaution from boss Brian Barry-Murphy. Cardiff's already desperate centre-back crisis has just gotten worse. They are once again without a centre-back.

    Ipswich 0-0 Leicester

Chuba Akpom is played in one-on-one with the goalkeeper but he takes an age over getting a shot off and Olabade Aluko gets a great foot on it.

    Chance that.
