Reading comfortably advanced to the third round of the Carabao Cup after a 3-0 win over Stevenage at the Sporta Arena.
The Royals had eased into a 2-0 half-time lead without ever really getting out of first gear.
Jacob Brown got the first after nine minutes, sliding home a Paddy Lane cross from the left after a quick break.
Lane then got the second himself 14 minutes later as he took advantage of hesitation from Stevenage defender Terence Vancooten and his keeper, Filip Marschall.
The Reading man simply got in the middle of them as they both watched Vancooten's header bounce backwards, and he lofted it into the empty net.
Stevenage had offered little in the opening 45 but were much more focused after the break.
They had the ball in the net after 53 minutes, only for Olly Sanderson to be denied by an offside flag.
Boro debutant Michael Mellon came off the bench to narrowly head a Dan Butler cross wide.
Reading keeper Joel Pereira also needed to produce a smart save to stop team-mate Liam Fraser from scoring an own-goal.
Randell Williams then wrapped it up after 85 minutes, tapping in Kyreece Lisbie's shot at the far post.
