York City and Gillingham can both be happy with the starts to their respective seasons.

The Minstermen, after gaining promotion to League Two in dramatic circumstances last season, have taken to life in the fourth tier well despite changing managers in the summer.

Led by Scott Lindsey, a former Gillingham player, they sit inside the play-off places before today's action.

Gillingham, led by Gareth Ainsworth, are having a much better season than they were last year and are currently outside the automatic places by just one point.

The two sides have met each other just twice in the Football League this century - with both meetings ended in draws back in the 2012-13 season in which Gillingham were promoted as League Two champions.

Bristol Rovers were flying high at the top of the tree in League Two but back-to-back defeats has seen them slip to sixth.

Head coach Steve Evans committed his future to the Gas last week before their defeat at Grimsby Town amid speculation linking him with the vacant Hibernian job which subsequently went to Dutchman Marink Reedijk.

At least the Gas have their excellent home form to lean back on as Evans' side are today bidding for a club record 11th straight league victory on their own turf, stretching back to February.

They welcome Exeter City who have an excellent recent record at the Memorial Stadium, winning on each of their last three visits.

However, the Grecians have not won on the road in the league in their last 12 games - a run that spans from their relegation season last term.

Matt Taylor is in the dugout for the visitors having spent a pretty uncomfortable and unsuccessful 11-month stint in charge of Rovers as they were relegated from League One in 2024-25.

Do not expect a blue and white quartered carpet to be rolled out for him.

Argyle host Burton, who could climb into a play-off spot with victory, while the U's take on an AFC Wimbledon side also trying to muscle into the top six.

Similarly, Reading and Wycombe - who meet today - and Stockport aren't too far back from the play-off places.

With league-leaders Barnet's match against Crawley Town postponed this afternoon, there is a big opportunity for the chasing pack to head to the top of the table in League Two today.

Second-placed Walsall could go top as they head to Tranmere Rovers, who sit outside the play-off places, while third-placed Grimsby Town will hope the Saddlers drop points and they overcome Newport County in South Wales.

At the bottom, Port Vale's game against Northampton is postponed which gives Accrington Stanley a good opportunity to stretch the gap from the relegation zone against Swindon Town.

Many people's tips for promotion before a ball was kicked this season, Salford City, sit mid-table meawhile as they face Oldham Athletic in the evening kick-off.

    Good afternoon, everybody.

If club football is your thing, then you are in the right place.

With the international break ongoing, there is no Premier League or Championship action this weekend.

That means League One and League Two get to take centre stage.

National team call-ups mean we only have four games in the third tier, but we've got 10 matches in the fourth, so still plenty to look forward to.

    Welcome along.
