    Kane Taylor helped Oldham finish 10th in League Two last season

    Rochdale have signed Aston Villa midfielder Kane Taylor on loan until January.

    The 21-year-old scored two goals in 16 appearances on loan in League Two with Oldham last season.

    He is yet to make his senior debut for Villa but scored for their Under-21s in an EFL Trophy defeat by Wigan on Tuesday.

    "We're delighted to get Kane in. He brings a lot of athleticism and quality to the team, alongside experience in League Two," Dale boss Ian Watson told the club website., external

    Baba Adeeko arrives at newly-promoted Rochdale after five years with Wigan

    Rochdale have signed central midfielder Baba Adeeko from Wigan on a one-year deal.

    The 23-year-old, who featured 98 times for the Latics across five seasons, joins the newly-promoted side in League Two.

    Adeeko made his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup tie in 2021 and went on to make 80 League One appearances in all.

    The Galway-born player has also represented Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.

    Rochdale open their League Two campaign at Newport (12:30 BST) on Saturday.

    Rochdale have signed Derby County forward Dajaune Brown on a season-long loan deal.

    The 20-year-old Jamaica international scored one goal in 24 league appearances on loan at Port Vale last season.

    He could make his Dale debut in Saturday's Carabao Cup first-round tie at Bradford City.

    Rochdale won the National League promotion final in May to secure a return to League Two

    Rochdale midfielder Will Jenkins faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

    He picked up the injury in Dale's pre-season friendly with Halifax Town last Tuesday.

    Jenkins, 24, followed manager Ian Watson to the League Two club from South Shields this summer.

    "It's the worst possible news," Watson told the club website, external.

    "He's pretty much done everything that you can do inside the knee, which is heartbreaking for him. It was a dream move, and I thought he showed really quickly that he was more than capable at the level."

    Rochdale's first match in League Two for three years is at Newport County on 15 August.

  7. Tutonda signs for Accrington from Rochdalepublished at 17:52 BST 16 July

    Congolese defender David Tutonda has joined Accrington Stanley from Rochdale on a one-year deal.

    Tutonda, 30, came through the youth system at Cardiff City and has played for clubs including Gillingham, Morecambe and Barnet.

    Stanley boss John Doolan told the club website:, external "David is someone we've been looking at a while. He is a very good player, very experienced and knows the league well."

    A previous move to Stanley fell through and Tutonda said: "That was an opportunity I missed, so I'm glad it's come back around."

    Andy Cannon spent the second half of last season on loan at Burton

    Fleetwood Town have signed former Wrexham midfielder Andy Cannon on a three-year deal.

    Cannon, 30, who was released by the Welsh club at the end of last season, has clocked up 330 senior appearances for clubs including Rochdale, Portsmouth, Hull City and Stockport County.

    He spent the second half of last season on loan at Burton Albion.

    Cannon told the Fleetwood website what attracted him to the League Two club and he said: "The gaffer wants to be successful, so do I. He's got ambitions, I've got ambitions. I feel we can work together and hopefully have a successful season."

    A product of Rochdale's academy, Cannon made his first-team debut in 2014 before going on to establish himself as a key figure at Spotland.

    He moved to Portsmouth in January 2019, where he spent two years before joining Championship side Hull.

    In December 2022, Cannon completed a move to Wrexham and played an important role during one of the club's most successful periods, helping them achieve three consecutive promotions, from the National League to the Championship.

    Boston United have signed Connor McBride on a one-year deal after Rochdale released the attacking midfielder following their promotion to League Two.

    The 25-year-old, who was on the books at Celtic as a youth player and counts Blackburn Rovers among his former clubs, featured 61 times in the National League across two seasons with Rochdale.
