  1. 50 runs

50 for Tom Bantonpublished at 11.3 overs

Tom Banton gets to his fifty from 24 balls. It's another knock that consolidates his place in this England middle order in T20s.

England's fantastic record at Sophia Garden's looks set to continue as they are motoring towards victory here.

If they get the job done tonight it will be 10 wins from 12 T20I matches in Cardiff.

  3. Eng 137-4published at 11.1 overs

England only need nine to win now as Will Jacks faces up to his first delivery.

I have to say, that's poor batting from Jordan Cox. That was his opportunity to get his team over the line. A soft shot.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11 overs

    Cox c Udara b Rathnayake 12 (Eng 135-4)

Chipped to long-off. Jordan Cox misses his chance to be unbeaten at the end.

Tharindu Rathnayake's first wicket comes with his left arm rather than his right.

It feels like England have really done their homework. A criticism of Brendon McCullum is that his team haven't done their preparation, but they seem to have really thought about where they can score off each bowler.

  7. Eng 135-3published at 10.5 overs

It's all falling apart from Sri Lanka's perspective. After that superb catch earlier, Eshan Malinga slides to stop a Tom Banton sweep on the boundary but manages to knee the ball over the rope having initially made the save.

England motoring here - I like this ruthlessness, it's like the rebuild under Eoin Morgan.

  9. 6 runs

    Eng 130-3published at 10.3 overs

Would England win the T20 World Cup if it started next week? Sadly for them they've got to wait until 2028 for another.

Jordan Cox is caught this time but, sadly for Sri Lanka, it's by a man in a blue bandanna in the crowd.

  10. Eng 122-3published at 10 overs

Need 24 more runs from 60 balls

This was special to dismiss Harry Brook, however.

  11. Postpublished at 21:08 BST 17 September

I reckon this six or Harry Brook's over square leg have been the biggest hits of the night...

  12. How's stat?!published at 21:07 BST 17 September

England vs spin in T20s this summer: 461 runs off 237 balls, six dismissals - 78.63 average, 194 strike rate.

  13. drinks break

Drinks breakpublished at 21:05 BST 17 September

That ball has been lost too so they're going to take drinks.

England need 25 from 61 balls.

It's been a trend of his, when Malinga gets hit for a boundary he goes to that slower delivery. Tom Banton was waiting for it, hitting down the ground.

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 121-3published at 9.5 overs

    Beautifully hit over long-off!

England look a brilliant T20 side right now.

Such a good shot from Tom Banton. It was a really good short ball and Banton's managed to catch-up with that and hit it into the wind over fine leg.

  17. 6 runs

    Eng 115-3published at 9.4 overs

Six on the pull from Tom Banton now. The ball thuds into the brick building at fine leg.

It looks like England have discussed where they want to hit Hasaranga. Every single batter tonight has gone for the same option.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 104-3published at 9 overs

Need 42 more runs to win

Tom Banton joins England's distance-hitting competition by thwacking Wanindu Hasaranga over the leg side. Brook's third effort in that previous over is still winning.

England could do this with seven overs to spare.

Maybe he should have stuck with the left-arm spin there. So far England have been a little short with the spin and England have really capitalised.
