Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 13-1
Good accurate stuff from Somerset in these first seven overs.
They also have the bonus of the wicket of Dom Sibley in the bank.
How long will it be until we see Jack Leach thrust into the attack?
Lancs 290-5 v Durham 493
From looking at the field, it doesn't seem Durham are too concerned about applying pressure to the batters.
Just a single slip for Duanne Olivier and Kasey Aldridge and no other close fielders - but that isn't helping them to cut off the boundaries, with Josh Bohannon adding two of those just now.
He's on 135, with Ben Walkden now 19 not out.
Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 13-1
Rory Burns gets off the mark from his 19th delivery as he guides Craig Overton along the ground past second slip for four runs.
He is tucked up by the next delivery and lets it hit his body.
Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 9-1
Ryan Patel guides Lewis Gregory away to the cover rope for a first boundary of the Surrey innings.
But there was success for Gregory in that over to give his side hope of maybe forcing a win.
Surrey trail by exactly 300 runs.
Lancs 278-5 v Durham 493
Josh Bohannon picks up another couple of singles to advance to 128 while Ben Walkden scores his first runs of the morning, a neatly-cut boundary off Duanne Olivier.
Lancashire are creeping towards that follow-on target, with another 66 needed to ensure Durham have to bat again - time and weather permitting, of course.

I seem to recall from yesterday that our correspondent from Greece was mildly dissed for his 600 runs and let Leach loose today comment. Any further thoughts?

Sibley c Abell b Gregory 0 (Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 3-1)
Now then...
Lewis Gregory finds the edge of Dom Sibley and Tom Abell (who else?) pouches the catch in the slips.
Ryan Patel is in.
Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 3-0
Surrey are up and running with a Lewis Gregory no ball before a leg bye is run, but still no runs from the bat.
Dom Sibley has previous when it comes to long vigils at the wicket and will need to have all his levels of concentration and patience to help his side see this one out.
Lancs 272-5 v Durham 493
Image source, ShutterstockDuanne Olivier gets proceedings moving after that rain delay, whizzing one past Josh Bohannon's outside edge.
Just a single off the bat in that first over, but Lancashire also pick up four byes after a grubber from Olivier that goes past both Bohannon and wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson and flies to the boundary rope.
We asked you yesterday, and again this morning, to nominate your choice of the 2026 county player of the year. This young man has earned himself plenty of admirers with his 69 Championship wickets.
County player of the season should be Ethan Bamber. Without doubt he has been one of the main reasons Warwickshire won the Championship. Consistent opening bowler and always the go-to bowler if Warwickshire needed a breakthrough. Tireless and top wicket taker of the season. Can't win Championship without decent bowlers.

Back-to-back maidens to start with for Somerset.
They will want to keep the pressure on for as long as possible.

Mad as it sounds after that innings, almost feel sorry for Abell falling one run short of the season's top scorer. Can they let Surrey score enough runs to set a target of half a dozen and let Tom open??

Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 0-0
A maiden first up from Lewis Gregory.
Surrey trail by 309 runs but that stat is largely irrelevant.
Craig Overton will open from the opposite end.
Lancs 267-5 v Durham 493
The rain did make a brief reappearance - but fingers crossed, it's now dry again and the sky is looking brighter.
So as it stands, the players will be back out shortly for an 11:15 BST start and there are 84 overs scheduled for the remainder of the game.
Somerset 731 v Surrey 422 & 0-0
Lewis Gregory opens the bowling for Somerset and immediately there is a loud shout for lbw against Rory Burns.
He then rips one past the outside edge of the visiting skipper.
There is pressure on Surrey.

We mentioned earlier on that having been called out of Surrey's game by England, Dan Lawrence has not been included in the XI for today's one-day international against Sri Lanka, and wondered if it is possible for him to return to Taunton and replace his replacement.
Regarding replacing the replacement, why not? The call-up was a stupid panic move and, in fairness, Lawrence should be allowed to return. In fact, the ECB should hire a helicopter to get him there. Battersea heliport is virtually next door to the Oval!

With Somerset regularly finishing in the top 3 of the County Championship, with players like Tom Abell regularly getting big scores, and Craig Overton always taking wickets, it begs the question, why haven't more Somerset players played for England?
Neil, Plymouth
Going back a few seasons, you could add the name of James Hildreth to your list.
Abell c Thomas b Topley 307 (Somerset 731 v Surrey 422)
It is over.
Tom Abell goes aerial and Adam Thomas takes a steepler at long-on off Reece Topley.
He has already broken all sorts of records but Abell finishes second in the list of this season's run scorers with 1,287 compared to Joe Clarke's 1,288.
