  1. It's a bit unsatisfactorypublished at 12:53 BST 4 September

    Kent 264-3 & 238 v Worcestershire 217

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It's all a bit unsatisfactory in a sense, you can't help feeling when you're 270-280 behind the last thing you want to be doing is feed easy runs - but they've got no choice Worcestershire.

It's not great cricket at the moment.

  2. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 12:51 BST 4 September

    Glos 237 v Derbyshire 253-5

A good morning for Derbyshire who have added 91 runs to their overnight total and taken the lead in Bristol.

Matt Montgomery's 50 got them off to a steady start before they had a wobble, losing three quick wickets, before recovering to move into a 16-run lead with five wickets in hand.

Jack Morley's innings of 37 from 105 balls has been the bedrock, allowing others around him to get some runs on the board.

  3. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:48 BST 4 September

    Somerset 441 v Glam 194 & 111-5

Jack Leach concludes the morning session and it has been all Somerset's with four wickets falling and at regular intervals, too.

Glam still trail by 136 runs with five wickets remaining and it seems only a matter of time before the hosts wrap up this win.

It will be a big one as well with 23 points likely to be heading their way from this round.

  4. 250 runs

    250published at 12:47 BST 4 September

    Kent 256-3 & 238 v Worcestershire 217

Sam Northeast milks a single off Brett D'Oliveira - the Worcestershire skipper is rolling his arm over to help the Pears' over-rate - to being up the Kent 250.

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Northeast again, pinch singles to finish the over.

Jake Libby is on to turbo charge that over rate now (-3 atm)

Kent will be loving this. Non-specialst slow bowlers on (without being unkind) with the lead 276.

  5. Postpublished at 12:47 BST 4 September

    Surrey 59-3 v Yorkshire - target 185

    Another maiden from Ben Coad.

While they're not taking wickets as quickly at they did in the first innings, Yorkshire are bowling accurately and making it hard for Surrey to score runs.

Still 126 runs away the victory target seems a long way off for Surrey.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:45 BST 4 September

    Goodman c sub (G Bell) b Ahkter 6 (Sussex 173-7

Dom Goodman sets up outside leg stump and it no surprise that he has edged this delivery, seaming away from him as he walks over to get in line.

Sub wicketkeeper George Bell formerly of Lancs, who replaced Michael Pepper, takes the catch.

  7. Northants take first innings leadpublished at 12:41 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham.

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

For the second time this season Northants have ended up with a first innings lead against Durham.

In June it was 45 runs in CLS. They lost. Today on a really tricky track at Wantage Road, it's 58. That's sizeable given the nature of this game and what looks like a low-scoring epic.

Durham have not lost yet this season but the second division leaders will be really tested this afternoon. They capitulated against the Northants spinners yesterday and lost their last seven wickets for just 48 runs. They will have to do a lot better today if they are to get anything from this game.

In terms of bonus points, Northants have taken four from this match to Durham's three. So the lead at the top of the table has been cut to 39 points.

It looked like neither side would get a batting point but Lewis McManus was tenacious and added 36 runs with Ben Sanderson for the ninth wicket to see them past 250.

  8. 50 runs

50 for James Colespublished at 12:39 BST 4 September

Sussex 166-7 (lead by 264 runs)

James Coles has not hung around through the 40s and a couple of boundaries, the second pouncing on a short ball to pull to square leg, has brought up his half century.

His 52 has come in 89 balls and has contained seven fours.

His partnership with Jack Carson which yielded a quickfire 63 has turned this match back towards his team when it looked like it was slipping away at 90-6.

  9. Durham start second inningspublished at 12:38 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 5-0

Ben Sanderson opens the bowling in Durham's second innings as the home side hunt early wickets.

The lead on first innings is 58 - so they'd love to get a few before that's wiped out to pile the pressure on the Division Two leaders.

Alex Lees sees out the first over without alarm as Durham make a calm start.

Ben McKinney gets one with a bit of width from Luke Procter at the start of the second and he larrops it through backward point to the fence.

That's four dismissively chipped off the deficit.

  10. Ahmed flashes while Hull frustrates in Foxes' fightbackpublished at 12:37 BST 4 September

Rehan Ahmed may hold the key to a Leicestershire comeback

Two of Leicestershire's bright young things have been tasked with rebuilding their innings today after two late wickets last night.

Rehan Ahmed, you will know, the England international has played some swashbuckling cuts and pulls, and looks in good touch. You can tell he's playing well when he starts playing flamingo shots off the back foot, raising his back leg.

At the other end is Josh Hull - also a test capped international. He is a proper number 11 really, but has batted with real diligence and resilience. He has frustrated Notts no end this morning - blocking well and, put simply, not getting out.

He's tried a few booming drives which he was a few miles away from, but other than that he's blocked and defended with real purpose.

There's a long way to go, but fears The Foxes might be skittled this morning have faded.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:34 BST 4 September

    Gubbins c Yates b Woakes 5 (Hants 115 & 12-2 v Warks 398)

Chris Woakes strikes in consecutive overs.

Nick Gubbins plays forward and edges to second slip where the reliable Rob Yates takes the catch.

It's grim stuff for bottom of the table Hampshire.

  12. Somerset nearing win over out-of-form Glamorganpublished at 12:33 BST 4 September

    Somerset 441 v Glamorgan 194 & 104-5

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan’s batting struggles since the resumption of Championship cricket continue, with Somerset set for a three-day win in Taunton.

Only Asa Tribe, with 49, has got going for Glamorgan before the spin wiles of Jack Leach proved too much as he edged to slip.

With Leach wheeling away happily from the river end and three seamers alternating menacingly from the Trescothick end, there has been little relief.

Supporters of both teams could be forgiven for looking at other scores already - with very different hopes as Somerset battle at the top and Glamorgan hoping their drop in form does not bring a relegation struggle.

  13. 6 runs

for Ollie Popepublished at 12:32 BST 4 September

    Surrey 58-3 v Yorks - target 185

It takes Ollie Pope two balls before he clips George Hill off his toes for a maximum.

  14. No hat trick for Baldersonpublished at 12:32 BST 4 September

Middx 160-9 (lead by 261 runs)

A dot but no wicket for Balderson as Toby Roland-Jones pulls it to deep midwicket but turns down the single.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:30 BST 4 September

Carson lbw b Ahkter 42 (Sussex 153-7, lead by 251 runs)

Zaman Ahkter fires one in that keeps low and Jack Carson cannot get his bat down in time and a good innings comes to an end.

That has been an aggressive knock with 42 coming from 37 balls with six fours and two sixes and it has yanked the game into Sussex's control.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:27 BST 4 September

    Orr b Woakes 7 (Hants 115 & 9-1 v Warks 398)

Class from Chris Woakes. He gets one through Ali Orr's defences.

Warwickshire need nine more wickets for victory.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:26 BST 4 September

    Burns c Bess b Hill 20 (Surrey 52-3 v Yorks - target 185)

Rory Burns is squared up by George Hill and edges to Dom Bess at slip.

Ollie Pope in now and his innings could be critical.

    Yorkshire need seven more.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:25 BST 4 September

Helm lbw b Balderson 0 (Middx 160-9, lead by 256 runs)

And it is two in two for George Balderson who traps Tom Helm leg before first ball. The Middx man felt it was high but Simon Widdup was pretty convinced that was good.

Balderson will be on a hat-trick at the start of his next over.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:24 BST 4 September

    Chahal b Potts 0 (Northants 263 v Durham 205)

    And that's that.

An unfair fight to be honest. Last man Yuzvendra Chahal backs away a touch to his first ball from Matthew Potts, exposing his stumps - which are duely rearranged.

He's not paid to score runs Chahal, his day job's with the ball. And he showed in the first dig, he's worth every penny.

    Potts ends with 4-49.

    Northants have a 58-run lead.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:24 BST 4 September

    Zafar c Hurst b Balderson 0 (Middx 160-8, lead by 256 runs)

A good catch at the second attempt by Matty Hurst, standing up to the medium pace of George Balderson.

The Lancs keeper juggles it high then takes a calm catch at the second attempt.
