  1. Postpublished at 13:28 BST 4 September

    Somerset 441 v Glam 194 & 112-5 (trail by 135 runs)

Just one run added in two overs since the resumption after lunch with Sean Dickson, formerly of this Taunton parish, nicking a single off his old teammate Jack Leach.

WICKET and lunch at Northamptonpublished at 13:27 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 54-1

The loss of Ben McKinney to the last ball of the morning will be annoying for Durham.

Up until then the Division Two leaders had given an excellent response to being 58 runs behind on first innings - a situation that could have got out of hand quickly.

But Alex Lees and McKinney were unfussed in almost getting to lunch unscathed before McKinney misjudged the length of one from Calvin Harrison, went back to one he might have come forward to, and was cleaned up.

It did spin quite a bit too - which will give Northants hope this afternoon they can still wrestle this game back in their favour after they were bowled out for 263 this morning - putting on 38 for their last three wickets - followng an hour's delay to play by rain.

Surely there will check the pitch at Surrey with so many wickets falling on first two days. I remember Somerset getting checked for it so why not Surrey.

    Colin, Wales

The last wicket partnership from Middlesex has taken the game away from Lancashire. The number 11 only faced seven balls in nearly ten overs, very poor bowling from Lancashire.

    Kevin, Flyde

Yorkshire's hopes of victory are still alive.

    Asif, Pakistan

  4. Lunch at Northwoodpublished at 13:25 BST 4 September

    Middx 247 & 200 v Lancs 151 & 7-0 (Target 297)

Steady start to Lancs chase with a couple of hopeful shouts for lbw and a single four, edged by Keaton Jennings to the left of third slip.

Just the three overs and that is lunch. Plenty of graft needed for Lancs if they are to get to this total.

  5. 'Essex will want to clean up the Sussex tail quickly'published at 13:22 BST 4 September

    Essex 177 v Sussex 275 & 190-8 - Sussex lead by 288 runs

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

Exactly 100 runs scored in the session by Sussex and a more than useful lead of 288 at lunch.

However, that doesn't tell the whole story as Sussex lost two wickets without adding a run first thing this morning, although the dismissal of John Simpson lbw to Simon Harmer looked debatable.

Jack Carson then set about the Essex bowling with a brisk 42 in just 37 balls adding 62 for the seventh wicket with James Coles who has batted beautifully in reaching 62 at the break.

On a pitch increasingly taking turn Harmer has picked up four wickets, but Essex will want to clean up the Sussex tail quickly after lunch before the lead becomes unassailable.

  6. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:20 BST 4 September

    Surrey 81-5 v Yorkshire - target 185

So that's lunch and Yorkshire are on top.

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley offered resistance for a while but once they were split wickets started falling frequently.

Runs have been hard to score and Ollie Pope tried to get Surrey going with two sixes before becoming the first of two victims claimed by Ben Coad.

Jack White also has two and with five more wickets needed Yorkshire are looking good for a fourth win of the season.

  7. 50 runs

50 - Durham almost in creditpublished at 13:20 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 51-0

Openers Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have done the first part of their jobs - the deficit of 58 is almost gone.

They've done it in pretty serene fashion to it has to be said.

The twin spin threat of Yuzvendra Chahal and Louis Kimber hasn't posed the same threat as in the first innings - even when the ball does turn, they have time to adjust.

Lunch is round the corner and the home lead is now single figures.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:13 BST 4 September

    Foakes b Coad 3 (Surrey 81-5 v Yorks - target 185)

A switch to the Vauxhall end for Ben Coad has paid off as he claims his second wicket of the morning with a peach of a delivery.

Ben Foakes has his off stump knocked over, and that's lunch.

  9. Interval - Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:11 BST 4 September

    Kent 264-3 & 238 v Worcestershire 217

Sam Northeast in action for KentImage source, Getty Images

So the loss of DBD has taken a dab of gloss off Kent's morning's work but they will tuck in satified nonetheless with their excellent position in the match.

Sam Northeast's emotional hundred - continuing his fairytale return to the club from Glamorgan this summer - has been the backbone of Kent's push for a fourth win in their last five red-ball games.

He'll resume 132 after the break with Kent not quite out of sight - 292 on - but getting smaller in Worcestershire's vision.

The Pears need a massive afternoon.

  10. Postpublished at 13:09 BST 4 September

    Surrey 76-4 v Yorks - target 185

Surrey have at least batted longer than they did in the first innings having lasted 30 overs.

But it continues to be hard going and they're only scoring 2-and-a-half an over so if they are to reach their target they may have to battle on for another 40 overs.

  11. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:08 BST 4 September

    Essex 177 v Sussex 275 & 190-8

It has been Sussex's morning but that is lunch.

Despite the loss of four wickets excellent knocks from Jack Carson (42) and James Coles (62*) have dragged this game back into Sussex's grip.

At 90-6 the lead was only 188 with only four wickets remaining but that now stands at 288 runs with two wickets still up.

It will take a mighty performance from Essex to win this now but they will quite rightly still feel they are in it.

  12. wicket

MIDDLESEX 200 ALL OUTpublished at 13:05 BST 4 September

    Roland-Jones c Hurst b Walkden 37 (Middlesex 247 & 200 v Lancs 151)

An excellent rearguard from Middlesex led by their skipper has hauled them into a commanding lead of 296 runs.

Matty Hurst takes a superb diving catch to dismiss Ro-Jo and end the innings with Ben Walkden finding the edge.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:04 BST 4 September

    Bell-Drummond c&b Allison 44 (Kent 271-4 & 238 v Worcestershire 217)

Middled but Ben Allison holds on - to the immense gratitude of his knee caps.

Daniel Bell-Drummond's eyes would've lit up at that length ball. He got hold of it but perhaps wasn't expecting Allison to get down so far so fast AND hang on in his follow through.

But the Pears seamer did. Worcestershire REALLY needed that.

  15. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:02 BST 4 September

    Hants 115 & 40-2 v Warwickshire 398

Another good session for Warwickshire as they take six wickets against a struggling Hampshire batting line-up.

Ethan Bamber produces a good spell to take two first innings wickets and the home side are dismissed in 38 overs.

Following on, Hampshire lose both opening batters to Chris Woakes who looks to be in a good rhythm.

Hampshire need a further 243 to avoid an innings defeat.

  16. Durham rattling alongpublished at 13:01 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 27-0

Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have taken a large bite out of Northant's 58-run lead at the start of their second innings.

Nothing wreckless really - although Lees came perilously close to playing on aiming a bit drive off Luke Procter that hissed past his stumps down to fine leg.

He has 14, McKinney 11 with the pair going at four an over.

Yuzvendra Chahal is now on to see if he can apply the anchors.

  17. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:00 BST 4 September

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 73-2

Rehan Ahmed (37*) and Josh Hull (14*) have safely seen Leicestershire through to the lunch interval.

The duo have added exactly 50 runs in the morning session and done a great job in fending off Notts' bowling attack.

The Foxes still trail by a massive 378 runs but their plan to keep wickets intact has worked like a dream.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:56 BST 4 September

    Pope lbw 12 Coad (Surrey 75-4 v Yorks - target 185)

    They get him this time.

With Jonny Bairstow standing up to the stumps Ollie Pope stays back in his crease and is hit on the pads.

Yorkshire were convinced they should have had Pope a short while ago. This time they get the verdict.

    Six more needed by Yorkshire.

  19. Five-wicket haulpublished at 12:53 BST 4 September

    Lancs seamer George Balderson

Hands up... in the excitement surrounding whether George Balderson could nail his hat-trick we missed the chance to mark his five wicket haul.

So trumpets out, fanfare blaring, red faces glowing, congratulations to the Lancs seamer whose two wicket burst delivered a five for. His current figures are 5-54.

  20. 6 runs

for Ollie Popepublished at 12:53 BST 4 September

    Surrey 75-3 v Yorks - target 185

    Well that's suddenly changed.

After ten runs, including four leg-byes, come off a George Hill over, Ollie Pope hits his second six off Ben Coad.

This is concerning for Yorkshire as Coad has a confident LBW appeal against Pope turned down.

110 needed by Surrey. 7 wickets required by Yorkshire.
