  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:20 BST 4 September

    Sanderson c Stokes b Potts 19 (Northants 263-9 v Durham 205)

Slapped on the up. Swallowed at mid-off.

Ben Sanderson's ambition gets the better of him.

To be fair it's a handsome stroke - driving on the up - to a decent length ball from Matthew Potts but it's a bit toe-ey rather than out the middle.

That, and it's straight at Ben Stokes at mid-off.

He doesn't drop many. Including that one.

    Durham nearly there now.

  2. Sam Northeast - he's a popular manpublished at 12:19 BST 4 September

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

You could hear the cheers from the Kent fans - he's a popular man here.

After coming back to the club from Glamorgan, it's emotional occasion for him as he removed his helmet.

He gets a pat on the back from captain Daniel Bell-Drummond.

  3. Postpublished at 12:18 BST 4 September

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 61-2

A frustrating opening hour of play for Nottinghamshire as Leicestershire pair Josh Hull (nine from 37 balls) and Rehan Ahmed (30 from 43 balls) stand firm out in the middle.

They've added 39 runs in the past 60 minutes and are digging in as their team need them to do in the current situation.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:18 BST 4 September

    Higgins c Hurst b Anderson 1 (Middx 154-7, lead by 250 runs)

This is moving away as soon as it leaves Jimmy Anderson's hand and Ryan Higgins tries to follow it but is always just inside the movement.

The edge gives a straightforward catch to Matty Hurst behind the stumps.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:16 BST 4 September

Ingram c Rew b Overton 7 (Glam 81-5, still trail by 166 runs)

Craig Overton goes round the wicket and Colin Ingram steps into a defensive push but is undone by a hint of movement away and offers up a straight edge which is snaffled by James Rew.

Somerset are all over Glam here and charging towards a 23 points win.

  6. 50 runs

50 up for Surreypublished at 12:15 BST 4 September

    Surrey 50-2 v Yorks - target 185

It's been slow going for Surrey since they lost their first two wickets in quick succession to Jack White who's bowled uninterrupted for the first hour.

Rory Burns and Josh Blake have ticked off the 50 landmark.

135 more needed and 8 wickets required by Yorkshire.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:12 BST 4 September

    Duke b Balderson 16 (Middx 247 & 154-6 v Lancs 151)

Another for George Balderson who benefits from a slight inside edge which deflects on to the stumps. Just a hint of seam in towards the stumps does the trick.

The lead is 250 with four second innings wickets still intact.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:10 BST 4 September

    Tribe c Overton b Leach 49 (Somerset 441 v Glam 194 & 79-4)

    Jack LeachImage source, Shutterstock

Lovely ball from Jack Leach and very good catch from Craig Overton given James Rew moved his gloves towards the ball and was so close to deflecting it.

Overton kept his eyes on the original trajectory and stayed down to take the catch.

Asa Tribe has battled hard against his own technique and the Somerset's attack which had been right on the money this morning and he misses a half century by one run.

  9. Hampshire to bat againpublished at 12:10 BST 4 September

    Hants 115 v Warks 398

Warwickshire have, as expected, enforced the follow-on.

Hampshire will need 283 to avoid an innings defeat.

They got just two bonus points from the first innings, the Bears earned five.

Get Involvedpublished at 12:09 BST 4 September

Pope and Cook are both in the England squad for the third Test announced on Wednesday. Cook gets pulled from the Essex team but Pope allowed to bat for Surrey?

    David, Chelmsford

Has a county ever had a worse average first and/or second innings score in the County Championship than Hampshire this year? Surely they must have the lowest batting bonus points ever.

    Simon, Hampshire

The John Simpson wicket pitched on leg, umpire’s call at worst. Then it turned back to middle stump. His reaction seems to have ignored that his sweep took him significantly to the off-side.

    Richard, Essex

  11. 100 runs

100 for Sam Northeastpublished at 12:08 BST 4 September

    Kent 210-3 & 238 v Worcestershire 217

    Well played Sam Northeast!

He started needing four to bring up three figures and go to 98 before he nudged one off his hip from Ben Allison down to fine leg.

There was some doubt whether there was any bat in it but, after a stare at the umpire, four was signalled and Northeast could celebrate.

What a return to Kent for Northeast - his second ton of the summer and 21st for the county.

190 balls and a dozen fours.

  12. 250 runs

250 for Northamptonshirepublished at 12:07 BST 4 September

    Northants 250-8 v Durham 205

Good tussle this between Matthew Potts and the home batters Ben Sanderson and Lewis McManus.

The England pace bowler has troubled both with his lift from a length but the pair have had their moments too - Sanderson has just punted him back down the ground for a four.

    They survive.

Ben Stokes starts a new over and McManus takes a simple single to bring up 250 and Northant's first batting point.

  13. wicket

Derbyshire lose three wickets for seven runspublished at 12:01 BST 4 September

    Glos 237 v Derbyshire 215-5

After a promising start to the day, Derbyshire are having a wobble.

Matt Montgomery made 65 before getting out to leave his side on 204-3 but captain Wayne Madsen (1) and Martin Andersson (0) have both fallen in quick succession since then.

Gloucestershire are fighting back well with Derbyshire still requiring another 22 runs for parity.

  14. wicket

End of innings for Hampshirepublished at 12:01 BST 4 September

    Abbott c Young b Bamber 4 (Hants 115 v Warks 398)

It's taken Warwickshire 38 overs to bowl Hampshire out.

The lower order played a few shots before Kyle Abbott clipped one to Will Young at mid wicket to give Ethan Bamber his third wicket and the Bears a 283 run first innings lead.

Abbott, walking off, then turns to check whether he'll be bowling soon. It seems unlikely as it's hard to see why Warwickshire wouldn't enforce the follow on.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:59 BST 4 September

    du Plooy b Balderson 15 (Middx 247 & 137-4 v Lancs 151)

Leus du Plooy gets himself into a right tangle, squared up trying to turn George Balderson and bowled leg stump.

He was looked caught between turning the ball to leg and hanging a bat defensively in front of his stumps only to do neither.

  16. Potts deniedpublished at 11:57 BST 4 September

    Northants 233-8 v Durham 205

    Matthew PottsImage source, Getty Images

Matthew Potts is almost sitting on the edge of the pitch, arms outstretched, such is the gusto of his appeal as he thuds one into the pads of Ben Sanderson.

Sanderson waves his bat at it a touch but it's going down leg side surely.

    Umpire unmoved.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:54 BST 4 September

    Brown c Smith b Bamber 21 (Hants 107-9 v Warks 398)

Kai Smith, brought into the Warwickshire team ahead of Alex Davies, makes amends for dropping Ben Brown earlier.

Standing up to Ethan Bamber the wicket keeper takes a sharp catch.

Surely Warwickshire will enforce the follow on after they take the final wicket.

  18. Can The Foxes fight back?published at 11:53 BST 4 September

Dylan Pennington took two wickets last night to leave The Foxes in trouble

For glass-half-empty Leicestershire fans who perhaps did a rain dance across Groby, Ratby and other assorted villages across the county, you have been partially successful.

We had a 45 minute delay, with The Foxes behind the game - though those of a glass-half-full disposition will think they are well in this.

Two late wickets last night, with both openers dismissed, have made things much more difficult. Their task will be to reach 302 to avoid the follow-on.

With that, they will start to pick up bonus points which will be vital in ther hunt for relegation. With Surrey and Hampshire struggling, they could be crucial.

The pitch seems to be doing less than earlier in the match, so hopefully Rehan Ahmed, and a deep batting line up, can tuck in.

One small issue - The Foxes are -3 on their run rate from the Nottinghamshire innings. The points deductions start kicking in after bowling for eight hours - that first innings took seven-and-a-half hours. So that will be in the back of their mind all day.

  19. Postpublished at 11:51 BST 4 September

    Essex 177 v Sussex 275 & 108-6

There was a bit of feeling in that as Jack Carson batters Simon Harmer straight back down the ground for a huge six.

It follows a pulled four two balls before and Carson clearly feels there is nothing to be gained in terms of the match situation by allowing Harmer to put the handbrake on.

Sussex's lead is already 207 and half an hour of Carson in this mood could potentially put the game out of reach for Essex.

  20. 6 runs

from Ben Brownpublished at 11:51 BST 4 September

    Hants 107-8 v Warks 398

Hampshire captain Ben Brown strikes a blow in adversity.

It's a glorious looking shot and he holds the pose after hitting Ethan Bamber straight down the ground.
