  1. Will Rhodes unmovedpublished at 15:10 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 111-1

Northants are desperate for a breakthrough and they're up appealing for a catch behind from Will Rhodes.

The left-hander has played forward to the off-spin Nathan McSweeney. It grips and turns away from Rhodes' bat.

They all go up but there's clear daylight between bat and ball on replay.

    Not out the right call.

Rhodes on 23. Durham 53 ahead.

    Surrey 117-7 v Yorks - target 185

Matthew Fisher tries to duck under a fast, short delivery from George Hill and is hit on the side of the helmet.

The players from his former county are quick to ask him if he's okay.

He appears to be but will undergo the necessary checks.

  3. dropped catch

Hurst dropped on 16published at 15:04 BST 4 September

    Middx 247 & 200 v Lancs 151 & 45-0

Matty Hurst should be on his way but Middx have spilled a fairly regulation that at third slip off the bowling of Naavya Sharma.

Ben Geddes is the fumbler, unable to hold on chest high but close to his body to his left.

Right, Somerset top, let's have two days of rain please. Actually, a month of rain everywhere would do just nicely...

    Bernard, Plzen

Great win Somerset! Can we finally do it this season, I fear we may 'Rew' those three or four batting bonus points we've missed by just a few runs in earlier games and in this one, but I hope so.

    Rod, Bury

They couldn't, could they? All those nearly moments but maybe, just maybe, it's finally going to be Somerset's year.

    Ruth, Oxfordshire

Come on Somerset, win your first County Championship. Time to stop being the bridesmaid, it's time for it to be YOUR special day.

    Lawes c Luxton b Hill 17 (Surrey 115-7 v Yorks - target 185)

Yorkshire fought Lawes and Lawes didn't win.

He hits a couple of big shots but goes for one too many and edges George Hill high to third slip where Will Luxton takes a sharp catch.

Surrey still 70 short. Yorkshire need three wickets.

  6. Postpublished at 14:51 BST 4 September

    Surrey 114-6 v Yorks - target 185

Powerful straight drive from Tom Lawes takes Surrey four runs closer.

Mind you he could have been caught and bowled. Jack White gets a hand to the rapidly travelling ball.

  7. 100 runs

100 up for Durhampublished at 14:45 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 100-1

Faced with a 58-run gap, to wipe that out and add nearly 50 in credit for the loss of only one wicket is fine work from Durham.

Led by Alex Lees, who's 60, they are tiptoeing their way across the ledge before surely reaching much safer ground if they carry on like this.

Northants are starting to look like a side who've lost their car keys.

They must have spares somewhere. Time to find them.

    Lehmann run out (sub-Smith) 42 (Hants 115 & 72-3 v Warks 398)

What a way for the partnership to be broken. Toby Albert goes for a quick single in the covers.

Sub fielder Jordan Thompson swoops on the ball and throws into Kai Smith's gloves who completes the run out of Jake Lehmann.

    Warwickshire celebrate ecstatically.

George Hill has just taken what may be catch of the season for Yorkshire - comparable to Wharton's effort at the beginning of the year.

    Sam G, Oxford

George Hill doing George Hill things. He just gets wickets.

    Sam, Leeds

George Hill is a brilliant cricketer. I wonder if England have noticed him. They probably think he's not quick enough for Tests but this summer's preferred method of attack is basically keepers standing up to skilful medium pacers so who knows?

Lewis Gregory and his Somerset teammates

What a performance from Somerset who have wrapped up a fifth win of the season - Craig Overton picking a drive from Timm van der Gugten off the bowling of Lewis Gregory at cover.

Quality bowling and quality batting missing out on maximum batting points by just nine runs but picking up 20 wickets with a degree of ease and 23 points to the cause.

Every facet of Somerset's side has functioned here.

The seam attack in the first innings were superb taking seven wickets between. The batting was collectively excellent with half centuries for Josh Thomas (59), Tom Lammonby (95), James Rew (52) and Archie Vaughan 68).

And the bowling, catching and fielding in the second innings when Glam fought hard were top notch. Credit to Lammonby for a great catch and Jack Leach for the breakthrough last night.

This morning and afternoon Gregory (3-68), Leach (3-46) and Overton (3-29) were right on the money.

Gregory's side have given themselves every chance going into the final three games of the season with two away and Surrey at Taunton on the final round of games.

    Walter c Tear b Coles 1 (Essex 3-1 Target 329)

Paul Walter almost falls over trying to heave that over square leg instead loops a top edge up to short leg where Charlie Tear takes an easy catch.

A breakthrough early for Sussex as they defend this big target and for spin with James Coles adding to his 3-7 in the first innings.

  12. Hampshire pair offering resistancepublished at 14:36 BST 4 September

    Hants 115 & 77-2 v Warks 398

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

"This partnership is just making the bowlers work a little harder.

It's giving Ed Barnard a little more to think about than he had in the first innings about who to bowl when and where to put the fielders.

He didn't have to worry about that in the first innings."

  13. Postpublished at 14:33 BST 4 September

Glam 168-9, trailing by 79 runs

Mir Hamza is having an almighty swing after every delivery here and has risen to 13 from 16 balls after connecting with a few down the ground from Lewis Gregory.

Two big blows put eight on to the score - both met with lusty cheers from the small section of Glamorgan supporters at the County Ground - and he caps the over with an ostentatious defensive block.

  14. Confidence booster for Leespublished at 14:31 BST 4 September

    Durham 81-1 v Northants

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

A much-needed 50 for Durham opener Alex Lees. It's only his third this season - a season in which he struggled for form and is averaging 28.

It comes in 71 balls and includes a hefty six onto the committee balcony and 4x4.

His 129 at Bristol came in the first away game of the season. He also made 63 at Derby a couple of games ago. Both were Durham wins.

They are now 81-1 and lead Northants by 23 runs.

  15. DERBYSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 278published at 14:31 BST 4 September

    Glos 237 v Derbyshire 278 - Derbyshire lead by 41 runs

Gloucestershire sweep up the Derbyshire tail in double quick time.

Ollie Price is the star for the hosts, with the spinner taking his first career five-wicket haul - finishing with 6-45 from 21.4 overs.

Derbyshire had put themselves into a position to build a decent lead but that late collapse gives them a lead of just 41 to take into the second innings.

The game very much in the balance.

  16. 100 up for Surreypublished at 14:29 BST 4 September

    Surrey 102-6 v Yorks - target 185

A whipped offside shot from Tom Lawes for three allows Surrey to reach a landmark they couldn't make in the first innings.

It's been a better batting performance and they still have a chance.

They need 83 more. Yorkshire need four wickets.

    Tense stuff.

    Well played Alex Lees.

His half-century has been crafted without too many alarms, save for one false shot that almost clattered into his stumps off an inside edge, and has come off 71 balls with four fours and one muscular six down the ground off Yuzvendra Chahal.

    Durham lead by 19.

Ari Karvelas starts with a maiden as Essex as Paul Walter dots back six balls to get Essex's chase up and running, or at least up.

  19. Foxes need 302 to avoid the follow-onpublished at 14:22 BST 4 September

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 112-3

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Leicester commentator

    Josh HullImage source, Shutterstock

Rehan Ahmed reached an attacking but disciplined half-century before departing just as he and David Gower... sorry, excuse me, Josh Hull, were approaching a century stand.

Normally a number 11, Hull is actually a very pretty batsman, he plays some very languid drives and has played through mid-off nicely. He's been very dogged, defending stoically and building really solid foundations for a good score.

Ahmed defended well and launched at anything wide. It's him at his best. He's showing England what they are missing.

302 is the first target to avoid the follow-on, carry on like this though and they could get a decent score.

WICKETpublished at 14:19 BST 4 September

    Thomas c & b Hill 5 (Surrey 95-6 v Yorks - target 185)

What a catch... Adam Thomas gets a leading edge trying to whip the ball through the leg side.

Bowler George Hill grabs the ball one handed.

Catches win matches they say... and that one has taken Yorkshire closer to victory.
