    Edavalath lbw b Quinn 8

Matt Quinn shouts in delight after taking a wicket for KentImage source, Shutterstock

    Two down.

Rehaan Edavalath's match with the bat is done. He's forward to Matt Quinn's second ball and hit on the back leg.

It's dead straight but also looks a bit high?

Umpire and Northants have a different take and that's what counts.

Kent have a couple. The need to make every ball count even more so with the light far from great.

  2. Durham lead by 100published at 16:27 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 164-4

Ben Stokes rocks back and dabs Yuzvendra Chahal out through backward point for a single to take Durham's lead into three figures.

They'll want to double that at least.

  3. Slow over ratepublished at 16:25 BST 4 September

    Surrey 156-7 v Yorks - target 185

If Yorkshire lose this they could end up taking no points from the match.

The scoreboard is showing they are three overs behind the required rate which could cancel out their bowling points.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:24 BST 4 September

    Flintoff lbw b Roland-Jones 13 (Lancs 97-4 Target 297)

Not stone dead with Rocky Flintoff taking a stride forward but Toby Roland-Jones has bowled this quite straight and it could have been going on to leg stump.

Lancs did not need that so soon after the start of the evening session and are starting to feel the ropes at their backs here.

  5. Tense at The Ovalpublished at 16:22 BST 4 September

    Surrey 155-7 v Yorks - target 185

    The tension continues after tea.

Surrey have added three more and are 30 away.

George Hill is so close to finding Josh Blake's outside edge.

Adam Lyth turns the bails around in the irrational hope of getting better luck.

  6. These aren't the best conditionspublished at 16:20 BST 4 September

    Matt Cole

Matt Milnes is working up a head of steam.

These aren't the best batting conditions you'd have to say for a side trying to save the game against a Kent seam attack with their tails up.

  7. get involved

Get Involvedpublished at 16:20 BST 4 September

56/58 overs from Yorkshire bowled by just three bowlers… not having a fourth seamer might make the difference? Gotta be some sore limbs across that Yorkshire bowling attack

    Ben, Bristol

Unlike the first innings lbw no doubt that Bedingham was out today. Chahal then accounts for Alex Lees with a similar degree of turn to Stokes dismissal yesterday & Will Rhodes run out twice in the same game. Hosts in the ascendancy

    Martin, Darlington

Notts really struggling for players now. Ben Slater hasn't fielded all day and Tom Giles is now making his first-class debut, replacing an injured Brett Hutton

    Nigel, Derby

  8. wicket

    Neal lbw Barnard 0 (Hants 115 & 131-6 f/o v Warks 398)

Two quick wickets after tea has put Warwickshire within four wickets of victory.

Ed Barnard gets his first of the game trapping Andrew Neal in front.

  9. Rhodes creates unlikely Durham recordpublished at 16:16 BST 4 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 147-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It would appear Will Rhodes is the first Durham player to be run out twice in a Championship match. That's according to the scorer's computer system.

Things were going nicely when he got himself out in the second innings and it's now sparked a mini collapse.

Durham were 118-1 and are 141-4 at tea. The lead is 83.

Yesterday he was run out by James Sales on one when Alex Lees played a ball to cover. That was a direct hit. Today I am not sure what he was thinking of!

He and Lees had put on 64 for the second wicket when Rhodes played the ball straght to Calvin Harrison at deep gully and set off for a run. By the time he realised the error of his ways and tried to get back to his crease it was too late. He was out for 27.

David Bedingham then fell LBW to Yuzvendra Chahal for five, before Lees was bowled for 80, by Chahal, off the final delivery of the session. They lost 3-23 in the run up to tea and in eight overs.

Yesterday their last seven wickets fell for just 48. Are we going to see a similar collapse today?

Bedingham, who is playing his last game of the season, finishes the Championship campaign with 1,029 runs at 73.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:14 BST 4 September

    Mayes st Smith b Suthar 31 (Hants 115 & 128-5 f/o v Warks 398)

First over after tea Ben Mayes comes down the pitch to Manav Suthar and misses.

Kai Smith juggles with the ball but Mayes hasn't got time to get back before the stumping is completed.

Not a great way to get out but nevertheless some promise shown by the 18-year-old in that innings.

  11. Back under way at Northwoodpublished at 16:13 BST 4 September

    Lancs 87-3 Target 297

Zafar Gohar gets the evening session up and running and he has Matty Hurst (28) in his sights with Rocky Flintoff the non striker (11).

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:11 BST 4 September

    Lategan lbw b Milnes 5 (Kent 238 & 358 v Worcestershire 217 & 6-1)

    Four balls later...

Lategan is across rather than forward to a ball from Matt Milnes from round the wicket and it hits him on the way to leg stump.

I think height was maybe the only thing that could've saved the left-hander but it looked a decent shout.

Kent will fancy getting the guts of this done tonight.

  13. Worcestershire start pursuit of 380published at 16:09 BST 4 September

    Kent 238 & 358 v Worcestershire 217 & 6-0)

Worcestershire are off and running in their, you have to say, unlikely chase of 380 to pull of what would be a remarkable win.

There's still a bit in this pitch but, as Kent showed, there are also runs.

Dan Lategan flicks the last ball of the second over off his legs to the fence.

  14. Back under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:06 BST 4 September

    Essex 100-3 Target 329

Welcome to the evening session Charlie Allison, who pulls the second ball from James Coles for four through square leg. Another couple of singles bring up three figures.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:00 BST 4 September

    Lees b Chahal 80 (Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 141-4)

Are we seeing the turning point? (We are literally)

That's spin a long way and it's lovely stuff from Yuzvendra Chahal.

The India white-ball star has tossed it wide from over the wicket, drawn Alex Lees forward and then it's ripped back between bat and pad to knock the left-hander over.

Chahal, and the other Northants spinners, have been searching for a bit of inspiration in this second innings.

    That might be it.

    Durham's lead is 83.

  16. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 15:58 BST 4 September

    Surrey 152-7 v Yorks - target 185

So we go into the final session of the third day with this remarkable match still in the balance.

Josh Blake has played a classic red ball innings of concentration and determination and goes in on 34 off 139 balls.

Surrey need 33 more and Yorkshire may be glad of the break and the opportunity to re-group as they chase the last three wickets.

  17. Tea at Northwoodpublished at 15:55 BST 4 September

    Lancs 87-3 Target 297

Middx look in control of this contest with a session remaining after three wickets in eight balls ripped through the top of the order.

Matty Hurst (28) and Rocky Flintoff (11) will have to bat a significant portion of the final session if they are to give themselves hope on day four.

Naavya Sharma 2-27 has been the pick of the Middx bowlers.

  18. 'Sussex won't be counting their chickens just yet'published at 15:50 BST 4 September

    Essex 177 & 94-3 v Sussex 275 & 230

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

Sussex are slowly but surely working their way through the Essex batting order, and a win that would go a long way to securing their Division One future.

That being said Essex still smarting from their collapse yesterday are battling hard, although with Michael Pepper hampered by a finger injury and possibly unlikely to bat, they could be a batter short

Much will depend on this pairing of the impressive Charlie Allison and Matt Critchley and certainly Sussex won't be counting their chickens just yet.

  19. 150 runs

150 for Surreypublished at 15:49 BST 4 September

    Surrey 150-7 v Yorks - target 185

Josh Blake and Matthew Fisher have added 35 now and Surrey are 35 runs away.

They're progressing at less than three an over but that's fine as time is not an issue.

Yorkshire turn to Matthew Revis in the hope of breaking the partnership.

  20. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:49 BST 4 September

    Hants 115 & 123-4 v Warks 398

A much better session from Hampshire who lost just two wickets and one of those was the run out of Jake Lehmann.

Teenage batter Ben Mayes has looked good in making 31 not out.

They still have a long way to go, needing another 160 to make Warwickshire bat again but the home members are seeing some fight from their team.

For the Bears Manav Suthar was the only bowler with a success between lunch and tea but they can afford to be patient.
