Summary

Have your say on England men this summer

  1. Eng 239-4published at 35 overs

Will Jacks adds another four through mid-wicket.

It's not the cleanest shot off Dunith Wellalage, but Jacks finds a gap between two fielders to reach the ropes.

  2. Not outpublished at 34 overs

    Eng 233-4

No, that's bouncing over - Will Jacks survives.

It was a strike above the pad on the back leg, so it didn't matter that he was quite deep in crease.

That was the penultimate ball of the over and Jacks takes a single through backward square off the final delivery to retain the strike.

My initial view is that Will Jacks flinched, so that means it is high. He is on his toes. This has got to be high.

The height could be an issue...

But has Eshan Malinga got his revenge?

He strikes Will Jacks on the back leg above the pad - it looks a little high but the umpire's finger goes up.

    Will Jacks reviews.

  6. Eng 232-4published at 33.1 overs

Crikey, no building back slowly after drinks.

Will Jacks absolutely smokes a whipped shot past short mid-wicket, sending the ball racing along the ground to the ropes.

I'm not sure the fielder regrets not being able to get in the way of that - it was close to him but it came so swiftly there was no chance of the ball being fielded.

Jacks makes a bit of a "ooooh" expression.

The TMS crew must have an excellent view of the sunset. The sky looks good from the western terrace, so it must look even better from up in the box!

On how Sri Lanka should bowl against Jos Buttler...

Get him off strike as much as you can. Bowl at Will Jacks.

If I am a seam bowler, I am bowling at his hip.

Get him off strike and do something to upset his rhythm.

Four sixes for Jos Buttler in 10 overs is not a massive task for him.

    And another one!

England go into drinks with a bit of momentum as Jos Buttler clears the ropes again off Sachindu Colombage, launching a second over-pitched delivery over long-off.

He clears the ropes wide of long-on to reach the landmark from 36 balls.

This chase is turning into a good challenge for the lower middle order. Will be interesting to see how they cope under a bit of pressure!

Jos Buttler adds two through backward square from Asitha Fernando, then takes a single with a shot that flies just wide of mid-wicket.

Jos Buttler is kind of dreamy to watch.

  17. Eng 209-4published at 30 overs

England's batters are content to knock Asitha Fernando around, taking four singles from his over.

No concerns about the required run-rate - it's 5.65 runs an over from here, with England currently running at 6.96.

  18. Eng 205-4published at 29 overs

Will Jacks gets off the mark from his second delivery, knocking Sachindu Colombage towards mid-on.

I don't think I have ever seen Joe Root get out like this.

He has just hit it crisply to extra cover. I have never seen him get out like that.

Has it held in the wicket? Has it spun a little bit? Normally, he just knocks it in the gap.

Sharp catch and it was there to be crashed. Joe Root has placed it into short extra cover.
