Nothing from the umpire, but Sri Lanka are keen and it looks good - they're sending it upstairs.

Unnecessary from Banton. He’s done the hard work, England have done the hard work and now there’s two new batsmen at the crease. And on a personal level he’s missed out on a statement century there.

This is what you pay the money for. Joe Root and Harry Brook.

You have got to earn the right again and rebuild the momentum in the team.

There is plenty of time to build that.

That wasn't needed from Tom Banton.

    England were cruising along nicely.

Banton decided he wanted to run down and hit one into the rugby stand.

In the end, he missed it quite comfortably.

Banton st Kusal Mendis b Wellalage 73 (Eng 153-2)

Not a great way to end a pretty tidy innings.

Tom Banton comes down the wicket and has a big waft at Dunith Wellalage, misses by a distance and is stumped by Kusal Mendis.

He departs for 73, which is his ODI high score.

Earlier in the over, Joe Root picked-up his first four with a sweep through backward square - he will now have to rebuild alongside new batter Harry Brook.

    Thanks, Matthew.

Just going back to the post below, not many people get to frame things "worm-wise", do they?

    Fishermen, I suppose.

Joe Root is almost caught off the leading edge first ball - just to bring a bit of tension to proceedings.

Ben Duckett was trying to keep up with the powerful strokeplay of Tom Banton.

Beautifully bowled by Dunith Wellalage. Duckett trying to get that big drive out.

Probably the first delivery that turned and it knocked him over.

Spin! Not loads but enough to get through the gate of Ben Duckett. He was looking so good and is annoyed to have been able to convert.

It's a good ball from Dinuth Wellalage.

Ahhhh. Ben Duckett gets out his reverse sweep. I said he was starting to swagger. He's certainly found something out there today.

Will Tom Banton start to think about that first century for England? It might be the only thing that knocks him out of this flow.

Sri Lanka are just hoping that one of these batters make a mistake.

Only two runs come from Wellalage's first over. He should continue through a spell.

I can see a banana trying to get a chant going in the Western Terrace. England are comfortable.

Is Tom Banton worth consideration as a Test opener? He seems to bat like Ducky, not a bad thing.

That was, all things considered, a pretty shoddy over. The pitch is flat as anything but four of them were drag downs.
