Have your say on England men this summer

Nicely bowled Dilshan Madushanka. He has been hitting the pitch hard and, with these slower deliveries, he is looking to get the seam up. Rehan Ahmed gloves slightly outside his body and he did not wait for the umpire's signal.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 39.5 overs

    Rehan c Kusal Mendis b Madushanka 0 (Eng 259-5)

Another soft dismissal for Rehan Ahmed.

The England spinner gloves the ball down the leg side off Dilshan Madushanka, with Kusal Mendis gobbling up the catch behind the stumps.

Having gone for two at Chester-le-Street, he departs for a five-ball duck today.

  4. Eng 258-4published at 39.3 overs

Would have been a pretty spectacular catch.

Will Jacks punches the ball into the covers off Dilshan Madushanka, where Charith Asalanka attempts a two-handed diving grab high to his left.

Have seen the ball clear Asalanka, Jacks runs two.

I would like to see if Kusal Mendis will do anything different to Rehan Ahmed.

  6. Eng 256-4published at 39 overs

    66 needed off 66 balls

Another Will Jacks single off the third ball of Dunith Wellalage's over, with Rehan Ahmed not scoring off the remaining deliveries.

Rehan made two off seven balls at Chester-le-Street and looked a tad uncomfortable in his brief innings before getting run out.

Getting yourself warm once again could be hard for Jos Buttler.

Jos Buttler hobbles to the other end, but no more than that.

He is now saying: 'I need to come off.'

    A sad sight.

  11. Buttler retires on 67published at 37.3 overs

    Eng 254-4

Jos Buttler's innings comes to an end two balls after his injury.

He fends a swift delivery from Eshan Malinga to point and limps to the other end before signalling that he's coming off.

Rehan Ahmed skips to the medal, rather rubbing salt in the wound.

Buttler could come back if he feels any relief from his symptoms later in the innings - we'll see if he's needed.

Cheers from the crowd as the England physio walks away leaving Jos Buttler in the middle. He's not moving well but is going to try it. Swing for the hills?

That initially looked like a hamstring injury, with Buttler holding the back of his thigh, but the physios seem to be stretching his leg for cramp relief.

The umpires come over to see whether he's going to retire, it seems like Buttler will continue.

Somewhat surprising, he's still limping a bit as he resumes his place at the crease.

On another note, that two brought up the fifty partnership off 54 balls.

That looks a big problem for Jos Buttler.

  15. Eng 253-4published at 37.1 overs

    Uh-oh, what's this?

Jos Buttler starts to hobble as he comes home for a second run off Eshan Malinga.

He looks distinctly uncomfortable, lying on the ground as the physios run on.

Will Jacks is a tall lad, and he gets a big stride in and he has flat batted that. His intention was always clear.

Biggest six of the day, I reckon.

Will Jacks piles on the misery for Dunith Wellalage, sending the ball deep into the crowd down the ground.

Two further dot balls end the over.

  18. dropped catch

Buttler dropped on 63published at 36.3 overs

    Eng 245-4

    Tough chance, but a chance.

Jos Buttler punches the ball to the left of Dunith Wellalage - the spinner dives to his left and gets his fingertips on the ball, but can't hold on.

    Buttler runs a single.

  19. Eng 244-4published at 36 overs

    78 needed from 84 balls

Straight back down the ground off Eshan Malinga.

Will Jacks squeezes the ball between Jos Buttler and the umpire, with the ball speeding across the turf to the boundary.

Will Jacks, on his part, was playing the vacant area, just a bit of a counter-attack to get Dunith Wellalage off that length.

As long as Jos Buttler's out there, England will get there very quickly.
