    Gloucestershire 296 v Middlesex 326 & 2-0

Sai Kishore continues from the Pavilion End.

Sam Robson defends the spinner to silly mid off.

There are two slips and a forward short leg for the opener to think about as well, as he defends carefully down the ground on the splice of the bat.

Over bowled. Another maiden for Gloucestershire.

  2. Postpublished at 18:12 BST 16 September

    Gloucestershire 296 v Middlesex 326 & 2-0

Luke Hollman is beaten on the outside edge by JT Langridge.

Some movement off the seam there and only just missing the stumps on height.

Hollman pushes into the off side and the ball is stopped at cover.

He's struck on the pad by the last ball but just outside the line of off stump. Inside edge saves him.

    Seven overs left tonight.

    Kent 64-2 - target 140

Another seven runs from the over for Kent off Mitch Stanley.

Three for Tawanda Muyeye and a fifth four of his innings for Sam Northeast, who now has 23 from 31 balls.

After losing two early wickets and being 22-2, Kent have steadied the ship well in this run chase.

Another 76 needed to win with the safety net of eight wickets.

Warwickshire beat Essex by eight wickets

    Dick Davies
    BBC Essex

From the Essex point of view there can’t be any excuses.

Warwickshire were clearly the better side and Essex hopefully live to fight another day, or another match anyway.

  5. Postpublished at 18:07 BST 16 September

    Kent 57-2 - target 140

These are all very welcome runs for Kent this evening. Sam Northeast drives the final ball of George Balderson's over for four through the covers. The wide delivery gets the treatment.

It's now 83 runs needed to win for Kent.

  6. Close of play and bad light at Headingleypublished at 18:06 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 128-6 v Somerset 201

The umpires are having a chat and we're off for bad light.

Somerset might not mind this actually. They were all over Yorkshire this afternoon when the hosts fell to 54-6.

74 runs have been added by George Hill (50*) and Dom Bess (27*) since then - and Somerset have lost a bit of momentum.

The target is by no means out of reach though.

    Currently the lead is 139.

Somerset bounced back superbly before with the bat from 86-8 thanks to 50s from Craig Overton and Migael Pretorius on a pitch where runs have come a little more easily against the older ball.

Close of play has been confirmed.

  7. Close of play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 18:02 BST 16 September

    Durham 465 v Worcestershire 270-5

Worcestershire skipper Brett D'Oliveira has his middle stump flattened by Matthew Potts in the penultimate over of play at the Riverside.

D'Oliviera made 82 and put on 179 with Adam Hose, who - after being dropped on nought - is 87 not out at the close after also seeing Ben Allison fall lbw to Ben Raine for a duck from the day's final delivery.

Durham's Ollie Robinson fell three runs short of a century during the morning as they were all out for 465 and they had the Pears in some trouble on 90-3 after Ben Stokes took a couple of wickets.

He took 2-56 from 20 overs of wholehearted effort but Worcestershire only need another 46 on day three to avoid the possibility of following on.

  8. 50 runs

50 up for Kentpublished at 18:02 BST 16 September

    Kent 50-2 - target 140

It's not perfectly timed by Tawanda Muyeye from Tom Bailey but he picks up three and Kent have moved along to 50-2 inside 12 overs.

  9. Postpublished at 18:01 BST 16 September

    Kent 47-2 - target 140

Great shot by Tawanda Muyeye with a cover drive to the longest boundary at the St Lawrence Ground off Tom Bailey.

It just about has the legs to go for four.

Kent need less than 100 to win now - 93 to be precise.

  10. Postpublished at 18:00 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 128-6 v Somerset 201

Jake Ball runs in. Dom Bess is struck on the pad and an LBW shout is turned down, perhaps on height and leg side.

Dom Bess pulls a short ball just behind square for four.

Ball goes full outside off and Bess leaves it alone.

Another short ball is dabbed leg side for one.

At what stage do Somerset start getting twitchy? 150 would be quite a task battling last on this pitch.

    The lead is 139.

  11. WARWICKSHIRE WIN BY EIGHT WICKETSpublished at 18:00 BST 16 September

    Essex 134 & 189 v Warwickshire 191 & 138-2

Dan Mousley hits the winning run to give the Bears the win over Essex.

It all slowed down a bit at the end there but the start made by openers Zen Malik and Rob Yates got the visitors in the position to win it tonight rather than come back tomorrow morning and they duly did so.

What looked like it could be a tricky chase became anything but with the win keeping the Bears in the title hunt going into the final round of games next week.

Essex are still in relegation trouble and have a showdown next week with Glamorgan to prepare for.

  12. Postpublished at 17:59 BST 16 September

    Sussex 284-6 v Notts 240

It does feel a little like these two sides are both waiting for day three now.

But finally something to shout about as Jack Carson plays a nice cover drive off Mukesh Kumar and it races away for four.

Carson is 20* and Tom Price is 39*. Sussex are comfortable at the moment.

    Northants 291-9 v Derbyshire 372

Ben Sanderson falls for 27 from 26 balls as Brett Randell claims a third wicket.

Northants need nine more runs to make it to a second batting point with one wicket in hand.

  14. Gloucestershire all outpublished at 17:58 BST 16 September

    Gloucestershire 296 v Middlesex 326

Daz Ahmed runs out of partners on 90 not out as number 11 JT Langridge is bowled by Luke Hollman, who marks his birthday with figures of 3-36.

To only trial by 30 is decent effort by Gloucestershire, who were 128-7 before Ahmed and Sai Kishore (71) came together in a stand of 144.

Ahmed hit three sixes and nine fours in his 117-ball innings.

  15. Postpublished at 17:56 BST 16 September

    Warwickshire 130-2 – target 133

Dean Elgar is on for a bowl!

I repeat Dean Elgar is on for a bowl - what a way for the Essex man to sign-off in his final home performance before retirement.

    Can he get a wicket?

  16. 50 runs

50 for George Hillpublished at 17:55 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 122-6 v Somerset 201

Jack leach bowls to George Hill on 49.

He's forward to the third ball, driving down the ground for the single.

This is his fifth half century of the season.

68 balls, six fours and a six. He's played a huge part in rescuing this innings from 54-6 with Dom Bess.

    The lead is now 134.

  17. Close of play at the Ovalpublished at 17:54 BST 16 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 339-5

    Asa TribeImage source, Shutterstock

What an effort by Glamorgan opener Asa Tribe.

He bats through the entire second day at the Oval to finish on 142 not out, with his side in a commanding position on 339-5, 356 ahead.

The Welsh county added 309 runs, having resumed on 30-0, with the pitch transformed after 20 wickets fell on the opening day.

Tom Lawes and James Taylor took two wickets each, but Kiran Carlson (57) and Ben Kellaway (43) supported Tribe well and Glamorgan will hope to stretch the lead well beyond 400 in the morning.

  18. Postpublished at 17:53 BST 16 September

    Warwickshire 130-2 – target 133

    Jack AuldImage source, Shutterstock

If there's one bright spot for Essex at the end of this one it is the debut performance of teenager Jack Auld who has taken his maiden first class wicket and shown plenty of promise.

One for the future, and one for now it seems.

  19. Postpublished at 17:53 BST 16 September

    Sussex 279-6 v Notts 240

Slow going with the bat at the moment for Sussex but it's Nottinghamshire who need to attack this game if they are to keep their title defence alive.

Sussex lead by 39 runs. Notts still need another four wickets to bowl them out. We've got nine over remaining today at Hove.

  20. Postpublished at 17:52 BST 16 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 121-6 v Somerset 201

Lewis Gregory continues to rotate his bowlers in short spells and Jake Ball comes back into the attack.

We're down to the final 10 overs of the day.

The second ball is tickled around the corner by Dom Bess for one.

George Hill faces and whips the ball away through the leg side for four to move to 48.
