Hand ups! I was one who criticised Root’s field placements. He’s proved me wrong.

Ali Usman blocks the last ball of Josh Tongue's over but I'm with Michael Vaughan, I can't see their resistance lasting a whole lot longer now.

    England are four wickets away.

I'm afraid this isn't going to be long.

Another one for Josh Tongue. I have to say, when I first saw that, it looked a bit high.

    Salman lbw b Tongue 4 (Pak 76-6)

Excellent on-field decision and Pakistan are fading quickly now.

No bat involved, it initially looks a little high but Salman Ali Agha is trapped on the crease, not really moving his feet and so despite it hitting him above the knee-roll, the ball is crashing into the top of leg.

Josh Tongue has figures of 3-7 in just 11 balls!

He's reviewed it straight away. Is it lbw, but he's also been caught in the gully.

  7. Pakistan reviewpublished at 22.5 overs

Has Josh Tongue got a third wicket?

England think so and the umpire raises his finger.

Salman Ali Agha quickly reviews. I think this is for lbw but the ball looped up to gully so if there's any bat involved, that'll be out as well...

  8. Pak 76-5published at 22.2 overs

No one really seemed to realise that was a hat-trick ball, certainly the crowd weren't as ramped up for it as they usually would be.

Probably a good job because it's not Josh Tongue's best, on the pads and whipped away for three by Muhammad Rizwan.

That's not a bad ball. There's a little bit in the pitch for everybody, that one nipped away from Shan Masood, he had to play it though.

He fought, but it's just not enough for Pakistan.

Tongue's done it again! He's taken two wickets, only bowled seven balls! He's actually on a hat-trick now for the second time in the game.

    Masood c Duckett b Tongue 29 (Pak 73-5)

He's got one in his second as well!

Nicely bowled by Josh Tongue, just hitting that probing fourth or fifth stump line and Shan Masood pushes at it.

A hint of movement is all it takes to find the edge and Ben Duckett, England's new first slip, safely pouches the catch.

That was the seventh time in just 13 matches that Josh Tongue has taken a wicket in his first over of the innings. He averages just 17.7 runs per wicket in his first over.

Low full toss from Jofra Archer and stand-in Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha gratefully puts it away for four through square leg.

The right-hander plays around his pad to end the over and needed to get bat on it. Had he not, that would have been lbw all day long.

That is remarkable, Dan Lawrence, away to his right-hand side. You see that position so rarely in a cricket match.

As a captain, after putting someone in that no man's land position, you'd feel quite smug.

Joe Root is having some week. He manoeuvred the field before to aid Archer's wicket. Saud Shakeel can't believe it. Good catch from Dan Lawrence though.

This is a sorry state for Pakistan. You'd be amazed if it goes into day four now.

    Saud c Lawrence b Tongue 14 (Pak 68-4)

    An odd dismissal.

On the pads from Josh Tongue and whipped away by Saud Shakeel.

The ball hangs in the air, though, and Dan Lawrence goes to his right to take a good catch at a deep-ish backward square leg.

A slightly strange position but Joe Root had just put him there so maybe it was a plan? Saud won't be happy, he was timing the ball nicely.

Only two more batters to come, then comes the slightly iffy lower order for Pakistan.

    Gorgeous shot.

Another beautiful drive from Saud Shakeel, back past Josh Tongue, and there's no need to run for that. Four more.

Not far away from a wicket first ball for Josh Tongue.

He finds Saud Shakeel's leading edge as the left-hander tries to turn the ball to leg.

It loops up but drops in no man's land between Tongue and Jofra Archer, coming in from mid-on.
