I thought it was a very good Test pitch, Richard. Something for everyone.

Yes, there was something in it for the seamers but England put up 400 in their first innings and the surface wasn't doing masses in Pakistan's second innings either.

Salman Ali Agha basically said that the game ended in three days because Pakistan made too many mistakes rather than as a result of the pitch - "it had everything for the bowlers and the batters", was his assessment.

Pakistan were poor but was the wicket up to Test standard? Too much seam and spin. Joe Root said moisture in the wicket when he won the toss? Why? Shame and costly for cricket three-day games!

No need to split it this time, Ollie Robinson is awarded the player of the match trophy after taking eight wickets in the match.

He says he didn't really feel in rhythm. You worry for Pakistan when he does...

Pakistan stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha, speaking to BBC Test Match Special: "England have outplayed us, they've been outstanding in every department. We need to flush this game out and turn it around at Lord's.

"In batting and bowling, we weren't consistent enough. In England you have to be consistent.

"I was expecting the pitch to play like that, it had everything for the bowlers and the batters, it was a good pitch. England were consistent with length and the pace, that's how they outplayed us, with bat and ball.

"We'll have two days off, then go to Lord's and sit down and think about what mistakes we did and what we can think about in the next game. We'll come back stronger."

Yep, those two end the match with eight wickets apiece - and half of the first-innings ball as a memento.

It was Josh Tongue who really got things moving after lunch. He took three wickets in his first 11 balls to pretty much confirm that this Test would end today.

Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson have split the ball from the first innings, so they can split the trophy for player of the match.

Well, that was more of a "Simple" than a "Test" for England.

England just far too good for Pakistan in this Test match, if we're being totally honest.

They have dominated for the majority.

I've got to say it will probably be England's easiest innings win. They only had to play half throttle. For Pakistan, a lot to ponder.

Outstanding stuff from Joe Root and company. The pace attack was great and the tactics were brilliant.

Abbas c Lawrence b Archer 6 (Pak 135 all out)

England's new era starts with a comprehensive win inside three days.

Muhammad Abbas tries to heave Jofra Archer over the leg side but can only send the ball spiralling upwards.

When it comes down, Dan Lawrence is underneath it at gully.

England were superb, Pakistan were not.

Muhammad Rizwan plays that shot, it's just too quick, up, moved back and created a gap between bat and pad, he really had to go like this. He took a bit of a chance but he's done.

Pakistan, almost done and dusted. Another disappointing Test match for them.

One wicket left to take and Jofra Archer is on to try and finish the job for England.

He's got Pakistan's numbers 10 and 11 to try and get through.

Gus Atkinson finally joins in, his first wicket of the match. A lot down to Muhammad Rizwan's shot, almost a one-day shot there.

    Rizwan b Atkinson 41 (Pak 131-9)

Gus Atkinson was the only England seamer without a wicket in the match - not anymore!

It's a horrible hack across the line from Muhammad Rizwan and the ball cannons into off stump.

Atkinson deserves that, he's bowled well today and finally gets his reserve to put Joe Root's side on the brink of victory.

Muhammad Abbas is very much playing from the crease, just dropping his hands.

Muhammad Abbas plays and misses twice more before the over is out but he survives.

Pakistan are clinging on for the time being.

Muhammad Rizwan takes a single first ball, clearly thinking Muhammad Abbas can deal with the slightly more gentle pace of Ollie Robinson.

The two tentative plays and misses that follow suggest the Pakistan wicketkeeper may have misjudged that.

Gus Atkinson draws a play and miss from Muhammad Rizwan in a decent first over back.

He'll be disappointed to waste one of two balls at Muhammad Abbas, though; sending it down leg.

A bouncer end the over. We've just got another 40 minutes or so until tea. Will Pakistan last that long?

What England have done so well is bowl at that fuller length that's required at Headingley. It's not that easy to do, it is quite a lot fuller than other wickets in England.

For them to be able to execute that as a group has been outstanding.
