WICKETpublished at 18:03 BST 21 August

    Slater c Foakes b Worrall 37 (Surrey v Notts 77-3 - lead by 99)

Good catch by wicketkeeper Ben Foakes diving to his left to take the low chance.

A decent effort from Ben Slater as Notts try to build on their narrow first innings lead.

  2. 200 runs

200 up for Worcestershirepublished at 18:03 BST 21 August

    Glos 150 v Worcs 205-7

Beyers Swanepoel has come out with a very positive mindset and he confidently sweeps Ed Middleton away for four.

The left-handed South African has 22 from 19 balls and Worcestershire's score is past 200 and they now lead by 55.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:00 BST 21 August

    Madsen c sub (Aldridge) b Rhodes 28 (Derbys 89-3 v Durham 283)

Will Rhodes gets Wayne Madsen with the final delivery of his over.

The Derbys man had looked a bit sketchy lately despite getting to 28 and he has edged a rising delivery to second slip where Kasey Aldridge takes a sharp catch.

  4. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 17:57 BST 21 August

    Middlesex 244-9 v Kent 350

Some excellent biffing and Bosching from this last pair for Middlesex.

Eathan Bosch and Tom Helm have clubbed 41 runs in double-quick time since the resumption and their partnership is now worth 51.

Bosch has 39 and last man Helm has 24.

Of course, Helm played a great knock to get Middlesex to the One-Day Cup final on Sunday.

  5. Postpublished at 17:53 BST 21 August

    Lancashire 21-0 v Northants 284

A good battle in the opening eight overs between bat and ball.

Ben Sanderson has been his usual accurate self, while Luke Guthrie has bowled with energy to send down his left-arm slingers.

But Marcus Harris has 12 and Keaton Jennings, four, as they try to steer the Lancashire start to safer waters.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:52 BST 21 August

    Whiteman b Baker 15 (Hants 197 v Yorks 173 & 99-2)

Sonny Baker comes around the wicket and angles it in sharply towards a fourth stump line.

A nip off the pitch takes it sharply back towards the wood and the Hants' quick has a wicket as Sam Whiteman loses his.

  7. Postpublished at 17:50 BST 21 August

    Derbys 80-2 v Durham 283

Duanne Olivier has brought the wicketkeeper up after a lbw decision is turned down principally because Wayne Madsen is half the way down the track.

The move makes sense but has discombobulated the South African who is smashed for three consecutive fours, two in the offside as he strays short, and the other off his legs as he goes down the other way.

  8. sun

Play resumes at Northwoodpublished at 17:48 BST 21 August

    Middlesex 204-9 v Kent 350

Not sure the sun graphic is apt, but the players are playing again in the surrounds of Merchant Taylors School.

If we carry on for any length of time, surely Kent will be starting their second innings at some point.

  9. Patel cuts loosepublished at 17:43 BST 21 August

    Leics 22-0 v Glam - lead by 21

Rishi Patel appears to have decided to take the attack back to the bowlers.

After his six he strikes two powerful boundaries in the next over bowled by Timm van der Gugten.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:43 BST 21 August

    Taylor c Bancroft b Middleton 4 (Glos 150 v Worcs 177-7)

Wicket number 12 of the day at Cheltenham, ladies and gentlemen!

It's a double test of spin from both ends for the Pears batters and Tom Taylor is undone.

Nice bit of bowling from Ed Middleton as he tosses one up, it moves away from Taylor and it's edged low to slip.

Three for left-armer Sai Kishore and now two for the leggie and Worcestershire are only 27 ahead.

  11. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:37 BST 21 August

    Leicestershire 13-0 v Glamorgan - lead by 12

First six of the match as Rishi Patel pulls a Ray Toole delivery over the long mid-wicket boundary.

The Leicestershire lead is nice and easy to calculate. Just take one off their total.

  12. Essex follow-onpublished at 17:37 BST 21 August

    Somerset v Essex 0-0 trail by 311

No surprises that Somerset have enforced the follow-on wirh such a huge lead and only 42 overs on the clock.

Essex will be reeling after such a poor effort with the bat.

Their situation seems pretty hopeless with so much time left in the game but they will hope for some fight second time around.

Get Involvedpublished at 17:36 BST 21 August

For Essex I thought it would be tough. Their four wins have come against the bottom two, but a performance like this could get them into a relegation battle.

    Kevin, Essex

That is a very valid point, Kevin. Essex have really taken advantage of the fixture quirks of a 14-game 10-team league. That could be a big factor come the end of next month.

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:34 BST 21 August

Notts 61-2 lead Surrey by 83

A defiant response to losing his batting partner from Ben Slater.

He launches a Tom Lawes delivery over mid-wicket for the third maximum of the match.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 BST 21 August

    McCann c Foakes b Fisher 22 (Surrey v Notts 55-2 - lead by 77)

One run short of what would have been only the third half-century stand of the match, Notts' second wicket pair are split.

Freddie McCann tries to drive Matt Fisher but edges to Ben Foakes behind the stumps.

That's 11 wickets in the day now.

  16. Ben Stokes off with injurypublished at 17:27 BST 21 August

    Derbys 52-2 v Durham 283

Ben Stokes was about to bowl his fifth over but has left the field after clutching at a muscle in his abdomen/left side.

He was stretching his back too so it is difficult to see exactly what the injury or niggle is but he is off the field now getting it looked at.

Brydon Carse takes over and that will presumably be the end of Stokes' night you would think.

Any more than that will all be revealed.

  17. WICKETpublished at 17:26 BST 21 August

    Waite lbw b Middleton 3 (Glos 150 v Worcs 167-6)

Gloucestershire continue their final session revival with the ball.

Ed Middleton is into the wickets as the leg-spinner gets a leg-before shout against Matthew Waite.

The batter is looking to play with his bat hiding slightly behind his pad and the umpire decides it's pad first and time to depart.

The Pears lead by just 17.

  18. wicket

Essex all outpublished at 17:25 BST 21 August

    Pepper c Nicholls b Vaughan 35 (Somerset 469 v Essex 158)

Michael Pepper had done his best to add a few more for Essex but he's last out for 35 and Essex have been rolled for just 158.

The visitors enjoyed the better of the morning session with the ball - until the 10th wicket stand and since then they've had no response.

A timid effort with the bat, some decent but far from spectacular Somerset bowling on a blameless pitch.

Archie Vaughan with a second wicket to finish things off and now Somerset have the game at their mercy with a giant lead of 311.

  19. Notts building a leadpublished at 17:19 BST 21 August

Notts 48-1 lead Surrey by 70

This stand of 42 between Ben Slater and Freddie McCann is looking a significant one in a low scoring match.

It's still not easy for the batters and both have taken blows to the hands and body.

But crucially for Notts they're still there and accumulating important runs.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:18 BST 21 August

Hughes lbw b Bamber 0 (Warks v Sussex 0-1 trail by five)

First ball of the Sussex innings and another wicket in this wild match!

Ethan Bamber, from round the wicket, nips one into the left-handed Daniel Hughes and the Australian is plumb lbw.
