What target can Kent leave themselves?

Work to do with the ball trailing how by 93 but a first wicket as Yousaf Bin Naeem goes to pull Hasan Mahmud but gets a top edge that loops up to the wicketkeeper.

    Glam 69 & 34-1 v Warks 391

You can't bowl at Asa Tribe's pads.

Once again, the Glamorgan opener despatches a wayward delivery, this one from Olly Hannon-Dalby.

  3. Postpublished at 16:31 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 42-4

Dean Elgar drives George Hill through wide mid on for a rare four.

Overpitching on that occasion in an otherwise superb spell.

A single next ball. Luc Benkenstein safely shoulders arms.

    The deficit is 348.

    Leics v Somerset - 42-0 lead by 248

Steady away here for Somerset as they look to stamp their dominance on this match.

A solid second dig to get the lead over 400 will do it.

Josh Thomas has driven Nathan Gilchrist through cover for four and pulled a short ball by Ben Mike through midwicket.

Tom Lammonby has twice very sweetly taken Gilchrist through the covers and then in the space of five balls, angled a back of a length ball from Ben Mike over the slips cordon and turned a fuller ball to long leg.

    Sussex 294-6 v Surrey

A good line with flight and dip from Rahul Chahar and Jack Carson is blocking rom the crease.

He's across to work a ball to leg for one - off the mark to his 10th delivery.

That's 80 bowled. Are Sussex taking the new ball?

Dan Worrall is moving to the Sea End. Yes, new ball taken and Worrall is coming on.

Regarding Mike in North Tawton [see 4.13 entry], the weather won’t turn. It doesn’t work like that. I’m a meteorologist and there’s a small chance of a shower late afternoon tomorrow in Leicester but otherwise the weather won’t be a factor at all. I’m sure Somerset considered that before making their decision

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 33-4

Batting looks fiendishly hard against this Yorkshire attack.

Dean Elgar plays and misses George Hill, the ball going straight through to captain-keeper Jonny Bairstow.

Definite movement off the pitch for Hill, who has continued his fine form after so nearly bowling Yorkshire to victory at the Oval last week.

Kuldeep will bowl to Luc Benkenstein.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 16:21 BST 9 September

Gloucestershire have begun their second innings at Old Trafford after bowling out Lancashire for 134 - Will Williams taking 6-24.

They are 7-0 and lead by 85.

Northants have lost another wicket at New Road with Ben Sanderson bowled by what may have been Usama Mir's googly.

Harry Conway has now joined Lewis McManus and they are 246-8, a lead of 46.

Spinner Rahul Chahar bows again - and here comes Jack Carson.

  11. Middlesex seek du Plooy U-turn from ECBpublished at 16:17 BST 9 September

Middlesex say they remain hopeful that captain Leus Du Plooy can play again this season, despite a ruling making him a overseas player with immediate effect.

On Saturday, Middlesex announced Du Plooy would leave at the end of the season as he wanted to recommit his international future to South Africa, voiding his current deal with the county.

They believed it would only change his status for next year, but the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) told Middlesex on Monday that Du Plooy's stated intentions reclassify him as an overseas player.

"We'll continue to work with our legal teams and discuss this with the ECB, and hope for a positive resolution which means that Leus can play domestic cricket in England for the rest of the season," said director of cricket Alan Coleman.

Some people have asked for an explanation of the substitute rules in the County Championship. You can find that here - but events at Headingley are still baffling....

Cook is actually in as a replacement for Killeen (designated at the toss), who subsequently comes back in the side as an injury replacement for Porter.

    Tear c Worrall b Chahar 89 - Sussex 269-5 v Surrey

Not to be for Charlie Tear but a fine innings even so.

Quite a loose delivery from spinner Rahul Chahar, full and wide of off.

Tear has scythed it to Dan Worrall on the off side as Chahar turns around and literally takes a bow.

    Jack Leaning is in.

Luc Benkenstein joins Dean Elgar in the middle.

    Worcs 200 v Northants 237-7

    Out next ball.

Beautiful flight and dip from Kuldeep Yadav.

Charlie Allison is barely in front of the crease and on the knee roll in front of middle.

Very out indeed. Matt Critchley to bat next.

    Glam 69 & 28-1 v Warks 391

Ethan Bamber is not finding bowling quite as easy this time around.

He overpitches on middle and leg and Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson flicks it away for four runs.
