  1. 'A very sensible innings'published at 17:46 BST 9 September

Durham 188-2 lead Middlesex by 237

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ben McKinney reaches his second century in three games and his third of the year, following 244 at Bristol in April and 140 at Derby a fortnight ago.

It's been a very sensible innings. Although known for his swashbuckling style, he often gets himself out playing the wrong attacking shots at the wrong time. There's been none of that today. Just steady away.

He put on 81 for the first wicket with Alex Lees and 89 for the second wicket with Will Rhodes. It's the seventh century of his FC career.

Durham are in a real position of strength here and a victory this week would see them promoted with two games to go, following their last day relegation a year ago.

  2. Latest from New Roadpublished at 17:46 BST 9 September

Worcestershire are five overs into their second innings after bowling out Northants for 289, despite an innings of 110 by Saif Zaib.

The home side are 19-0, with Dan Lategan 13 not out and Jake Libby on five, still 70 runs in arrears.

  3. Women's One-Day Cup updatepublished at 17:44 BST 9 September

Essex have won an exciting game against Yorkshire at Chelmsford by eight runs, bowling the visitors out for 233 after skipper Grace Scrivens made 87 in their earlier 241 all out.

Somerset beat Lancashire by five wickets at Taunton, chasing down a target of 241 with 13 balls to spare - Jess Hazell finishing on 77 not out.

Surrey and Hampshire were winners earlier in the afternoon.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Ben McKinneypublished at 17:43 BST 9 September

    Durham 252 & 188-2 v Middlesex 203

An elegant stroke away for four from the tall figure of Ben McKinney takes him to his century.

It's come in 128 balls with 14 fours.

A third century of the campaign for McKinney who is now over 832 runs for the season.

  5. Postpublished at 17:43 BST 9 September

    Sussex 371-8 v Surrey

Ari Karvelas advances to 25 with four driven with a flowing bat through mid off.

Four more two balls later, pulling a long hop from Tom Lawes in front of square.

Four leg byes follow and that takes the ninth-wicket stand to 50 in 70 balls.

  6. Postpublished at 17:40 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 84-6

Three close fielders in for Dom Bess - a slip, short backward square leg, and forward short leg.

The first ball of the over turns sharply across Shane Snater - who gets away with a single to square leg.

George Bell responds to the pressure by sweeping from outside off into the Western Terrace for six.

Flatter and straight from Bess, pushed into mid-wicket for no run.

Bell nearly nudges a catch to Adam Lyth at forward short leg but survives the over.

  7. 50 runs

    Derbys 61-1 lead by 142 v Kent

Seven overs left at the Old Racecourse and Derbyshire are steady through Harry Came, 28, and Matt Montgomery, 16.

They raise a fifty stand in 98 balls.

Get through and it’ll be a jolly good day’s work for the hosts and a blow to Kent’s promotion ambitions.

  8. Postpublished at 17:39 BST 9 September

    Lancs 134 v Glos 212 & 63-7

With all that going on in Cardiff, we had to take an eye of this game for a bit.

In that time, Ben Walkden has taken two wickets for Lancashire.

Daz Ahmed top edged an attempted pull shot and Mitch Stanley took an excellent over-the-shoulder catch running back from mid-wicket.

And in Walkdem's next over the same combination accounted for Sai Kishore who got a leading edge as he tried to hit the ball over mid-on.

    The Gloucestershire lead is 141.

  9. Sussex reach 350published at 17:34 BST 9 September

    Sussex 350-8 v Surrey

Sussex reach the 350 mark and a third batting point in the 97th over - as Ari Karvelas drives Tom Lawes through the off side for a single.

Seven overs remaining in the day.

    Vaughan lbw b Rehan Ahmed 4 (Leics v Somerset - 119-2 lead by 328)

A second wicket for Rehan Ahmed.

This time a regular leggie that turns past the outside edge of Archie Vaughan propping forward and he’s plumb lbw.

  11. WARKS BEAT GLAMORGAN BY INNS & 257 RUNSpublished at 17:31 BST 9 September
    Breaking

    Glamorgan 69 & 65 v Warwickshire 391

    Un-be-lievable.

Warwickshire surge to the top of the Division One table - for now - by taking 20 Glamorgan wickets in just 52.4 overs during the game.

Ed Barnard has Timm van der Gugten lbw to finish with 5-13 as Warwickshire take 22 points away from Sophia Gardens.

Asa Taribe (27) and Kiran Carlson (11) were the only batters to reach double figures in Glamorgan's second innings. We don't want to be unkind - but 'woeful' is certainly one word to describe it.

  12. wicket

    Elgar LBW b Bess 34 - Yorkshire 390 v Essex 75-6

Out! the key wicket of Dean Elgar has fallen to Don Bess.

Flight and in drift from the spinner and Elgar has missed a defensive push, struck on the back pad in front of off.

Can Essex make it through to stumps?

    In comes Shane Snater.

  13. When will enough be enough for Somerset?published at 17:30 BST 9 September

    Somerset 363 & 119-2 v Leicestershire 157

    Image caption,

It's been a frustrating day in the field for Leicestershire

This has, to put it kindly, not been a thrilling day of cricket.

Firstly, Leicestershire's last two partnerships seemed to have a tactic which was: 'See if Somerset will die of boredom bowling to us' - it was moderately successful.

Since then, Somerset's new opening pair have come in and had found things comfortable - making their second century partnership of the game.

For Leicestershire and the rest of us, it's simply a case of waiting for Somserset to decide they have enough runs (450 probably about right) and aim to bowl Leicestershire out on day three and four.

There is some criticism about Somerset's decision not to enforce the follow-on with such a sizeable lead. I'm probably in that camp, though Lewis Gregory may be struggling with injury (he bowled just six overs in the Leicestershire innings) and so Somerset might be a bowler down, and may have wanted to make the game safe.

But it's led to quite a dull period of play. However, I have been educated in Somerset pastimes. I know all about making cider now (there hasn't been much to talk about on commentary, you see).

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 BST 9 September

    Currie b Sheat 35 (Notts 377 v Hampshire 262-7)

Scott Currie's long vigil at the crease comes to a close as he is bowled by Fraser Sheat - stumps out of the ground!

Currie was in for over two hours and faced 143 balls in his fine support act for Jake Lehmann - in fact it was more than that - it was a great innings in its own right and has made a huge difference to his side.

He has helped them avoid the follow-on and reach a first batting point since coming in. Currie and Lehmann were just three runs short of a 100-run partnership.

An emphatic dismissal from Sheat though - it had been a long time since Notts claimed a wicket.

  15. 6 runs

Hunt goes for goldpublished at 17:29 BST 9 September

    Sussex 347-8 v Surrey

A full toss from Rahul Chahar, whacked over mid-wicket and towards the indoor school by Sean Hunt for six.

Eight overs left in the day.

  16. Postpublished at 17:28 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 390 v Essex 75-5

Kuldeep Yadav continues his marathon spell and George Bell takes two fours off the wrist spinner's over.

He drives one through cover point and sweeps square, safely past the forward short leg fielder three balls later..

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:27 BST 9 September

    McIlroy b Suthar (Glam 69 & 65-9 v Warks 391)

A quicker ball from spinner Manav Suthar is far too good for Jamie McIlroy who continues the Glamorgan procession back to the dressing room.

You can only imagine what head coach Richard Dawson will be saying to his team at the end of this game.

Suthar has three wickets in the game and has yet to conceded a run.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:25 BST 9 September

    Rhodes c Geddes b Morgan 34 (Durham 252 & 170-2 v Middlesex 203)

A first wicket for Seb Morgan in his eighth over as he dismisses Will Rhodes for 34.

The Durham man has a big swing at it but can only send it into the hands of Ben Geddes at gully.

  19. Postpublished at 17:25 BST 9 September

    Sussex 336-8 v Surrey

Ari Karvelas drives Rahul Chahar down the ground and a good stop from Tom Lawes running to long on keeps it to two runs.

10 overs left here tonight and we have plenty of autumnal sunlight beaming on the field.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:24 BST 9 September

    Cooke b Suthar 9 (Glam 69 & 65-8 v Warks 391)

    Oh dear.

Chris Cooke attempts a paddle sweep off Manav Suthar and is bowled behind his legs.

Warwickshire two wickets away from a victory which will put them top of the table pending the results in the Somerset and Notts games.

But how costly will missing out on that fourth batting point prove?
