    Sussex 67-2 v Surrey

Oli Carter sweeps and misses Mahipal Lomror and the left-arm spinner appeals for LBW. Not out.

Perhaps doing a bit too much.

The fifth ball of the over is flicked away to square leg for four.

Four more next ball as Carter is back and across to slap the ball through point.

  2. Postpublished at 11:53 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 295-7 v Essex

Essex looking to Mitch Killeen and Shane Snater to knock over the Yorkshire tail with Jamie Porter off the field with a possible injury.

A tight line and length from Killeen.

Dom Bess tries to get the ball away to leg but there's no run.

    Albert lbw Giles 31 (Notts 377 v Hampshire 73-2)

    Tom GilesImage source, Shutterstock

Tom Giles grabs a wicket in his second over!

It's a full and straight delivery which does for Toby Albert as he tries to play across his pads but misses and you can tell from his reaction he knew the umpire's finger would go up.

It was kind of a muted appeal from Giles himself with the appeals mainly coming from the wicketkeeper and slips!

Giles' first over was a little wayward but that one - a wicket maiden - was much improved as he claims a fourth first class wicket.

  4. Gloucestershire all outpublished at 11:52 BST 9 September

    Lancs v Glos 212

    Mitch StanleyImage source, Shutterstock

Mitch Stanley brings Gloucestershire's first innings to an end as Matt Taylor flashes at a wide one and Keaton Jennings leaps to take the catch above his head at third slip.

The visitors added 48 to their overnight 164-6 - only one of them for George Balderson, who finishes one wicket short of a five-for.

Highlight of the morning, though, was James Anderson's brilliant diving slip catch to remove Will Williams and give Stanley his first success.

    Haines c & b Fisher 20 - Sussex 58-2 v Surrey

Matt Fisher strikes in his fifth over.

The ball is back of a length, angled across Tom Haines - who has tried to work it to leg and got a leading edge back to the bowler.

    Oli Carter is in next.

  6. Porter injury concernpublished at 11:47 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 291-7 v Essex

Worryingly for Essex, Jamie Porter has pulled out of his run up during his 21st over and is now leaving the field.

Mitch Killeen will complete the over and Sam Cook's return to the team cannot come soon enough.

  7. Division Two updatepublished at 11:47 BST 9 September

Northants have lost their second wicket at New Road with Calvin Harrison, on 24, edging Adam Finch to the keeper.

An easy catch for Henry Cullen and the visitors are 62-2, replying to Worcestershire's 200 all out.

Lancashire are almost there but Matt Taylor has hit Noman Ali over long-on for six as Gloucestershire advance to 212-9 at Old Trafford.

    Holden c Ackermann b Aldridge 43 (Durham 252 v Middlesex 116-3)

    Kasey AldridgeImage source, Getty Images

Kasey Aldridge makes the first breakthrough of the morning for Durham!

Visiting skipper Max Holden looks disappointed to lose his wicket as he tries to drive Aldridge back down the ground but gets a thick edge to Colin Ackermann who pouches it at second slip.

Holden goes for 43 and that breaks a promising partnership he had been building with Nathan Fernandes which added 62.

  9. Postpublished at 11:44 BST 9 September

    Sussex 58-1 v Surrey

Another bat change - this time for Charlie Tear, who may have damaged the toe of his former bat facing those Tom Lawes yorkers.

There's a bit of width outside the off peg from Lawes this time and Tear safely shoulders arms.

Tear tries to work away a leg side full toss but misses. Good work behind the stumps by keeper Ben Foakes.

He gets a single to fine leg off the last ball to keep the strike.

No news yet. You are going to have to be patient, Andrew.

  11. Postpublished at 11:39 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 286-7 v Essex

Kuldeep Yadav has looked reasonably at ease in his innings so far, confidently playing Shane Snater down the pitch.

He pushes a single into the off side.

50 for Daaryoush Ahmedpublished at 11:38 BST 9 September

    Lancs v Glos 197-9

    Daaryoush AhmedImage source, Shutterstock

The man known as 'Daz' turns a ball from Arav Shetty away for a single and reaches his maiden first-class 50 from 118 balls.

His 119th is his last as he edges the first delivery of Shetty's next over to slip where James Anderson takes his second catch of the morning.

No dive needed this time - but the reflexes were very impressive!

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 231-4

Full toss from Mason Crane and Ed Barnard's unceremoniously thumps it over the square leg boundary for six.

  14. Postpublished at 11:37 BST 9 September

    Sussex 51-1 v Surrey

Sussex reach the innings 50 in 14 overs.

Charlie Tear is nearly yorked by Tom Lawes, digging the ball out with the toe of his bat, moving his actual toes towards square leg.

    Awkward but he survives.

  15. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 219-4

Ben Kellaway is too full as he floats one up outside off stump and a slog-sweep by Ed Barnard sends it skimming out to the mid-wicket boundary. The Warwickshire lead is now exactly 150.

    Hill c & b Snater 40 - Yorkshire 281-7 v Essex

Shane Snater strikes with the seventh over of the new ball.

George Hill is forward to drive the bowler and bunts it straight to him at knee height.

Good catch taken on the follow through.

Kuldeep Yadav is the Yorkshire number nine.

  17. 50 runs

up for Kentpublished at 11:30 BST 9 September

    Derbys 300 v Kent 53-3

Bertie Foreman works Martin Andersson off he legs for three past square leg and that brings the 50 up for the visitors.

    Foreman onto 27.

  18. Postpublished at 11:28 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 281-6 v Essex

Dom Bess moves to 29 with a four clipped to square leg on the front foot off Jamie Porter.

A slight pause in play as Shane Snater checks out the delivery mark at his end.

Two slips await and George Hill is forward blocking into the off side.

Accurate bowling but there is little threat in the air or off the pitch for the Essex attack with this new ball so far.

  19. 100 runs

100 up for Middlesexpublished at 11:25 BST 9 September

    Durham 252 v Middlesex 102-2

The 50 partnership comes up for Nathan Fernandes and Max Holden as the Middlesex duo take their side over 100.

It's been a good opening hour for the visitors.

  20. Postpublished at 11:24 BST 9 September

    Sussex 45-1 v Surrey

Charlie Tear is forward to Dan Worrall, playing the bowler safely into the covers.

Tom Lawes is bowling round the wicket to the left-handed Tom Haines, who gets a single to point off the back foot.

Just the single off a much better over from Tom Lawes, who has now found the ideal length.

Another bowling change. Here comes Indian left-arm spinner Mahipal Lomror.
