    Yorkshire 349-7 v Essex

Dom Bess continues to accumulate steadily and is surely one of the best number eights on the circuit.

He's added five since lunch and is on 56.

Kuldeep Yadav plays loosely, missing Zaman Akhter outside off.

Akhter pushes the ball out wider, too wide and Kuldeep leaves it.

  2. Postpublished at 13:39 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 300-6

Losing Ed Barnard was a setback, but Warwickshire earn their second batting point as Chris Woakes clips Kiran Carlson to mid-wicket for a single, with Jamie McIlroy making a good diving stop.

    Notts 377 v Hampshire 140-3

Jake Lehmann is on 42 from 43 and has taken every opportunity he's had to find the boundary.

He and Joe Weatherley (25*) have added almost 70 together now.

  4. Postpublished at 13:37 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 346-7 v Essex

Two more to Bess, beating cover and the ball is stopped in front of the Western Terrace.

Single next ball and Kuldeep drives through cover for four.

He's on 33 and a third batting point is in sight.

  5. Postpublished at 13:35 BST 9 September

    Sussex 139-2 v Surrey

Oli Carter is down the track to Rahul Chahar but mid off is set deep and that's only going to be a singles.

Single to Charlie Tear at long off and the next ball spins past the outside edge of Carter's bat. That's the first tangible evidence of turn.

A short ball is pulled square by Carter for four. He's now on 40.

Four more on bended knee and scythed through cover.

    Morgan lbw Carse 0 (Durham 252 v Middlesex 182-8)

Seb Morgan doesn't hang around long - he's gone without scoring from eight balls.

In fairness he can do little about that fine delivery from Brydon Carse that moves off the surface and bashes into his pads.

Carse joins Ben Raine in taking three wickets in the innings.

Two more for Durham to get with Middlesex 70 in arrears.

The last wicket stand yesterday for Durham of 90 is looking priceless

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:32 BST 9 September

    Barnard c Tribe b Carlson 51 (Glamorgan 69 v Warks 295-6)

"He'll now be setting his sights on a hundred", we said. Not any more.

Ed Barnard tries to swing a ball from Kiran Carlson over the mid-wicket boundary but gets too far underneath it and Asa Tribe safely pouches the catch in the deep.

A bit of a gift for Glamorgan, that one. The new ball is just three overs away after this one.

  8. Postpublished at 13:32 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 339-7 v Essex

Shane Snater, one of the last Essex pace bowlers still standing, will bowl the second over of the session.

Single to Kuldeep Yadav at square leg and one more to fine leg for Dom Bess.

One more to Kuldeep and Yorkshire look too comfortable from an Essex point of view.

  9. Postpublished at 13:31 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 299-5

Kai Smith uses his feet well before driving Mason Crane past mid-off for four.

The next ball is shorter and he cuts away off the back foot to make it back to back boundaries.

  10. Delayed resumption at old Traffordpublished at 13:30 BST 9 September

    Lancs 23-3 v Glos 212

A passing shower has held up the afternoon session at Old Trafford but the umpires expect to be back under way again shortly.

Marcus Harris is nine not out for Lancashire and Rocky Flitnoff has two.

  11. Postpublished at 13:27 BST 9 September

    Sussex 124-2 v Surrey

Four runs off the Rahul Chahar over, including a lofted seep for two by Charlie Tear, who keeps the strike with a single off the last ball, going back and across to push the ball into the off side.

Tom Lawes is bowling at the other end. Another single to Tear and Oli Carter blocks down the ground.

  12. 50 runs

for Ed Barnardpublished at 13:26 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 284-5

What a fine, consistent player Ed Barnard is.

He pushes a single off the back foot and reaches his half-century from 72 balls - and will now be setting his sights on a second hundred of the campaign.

  13. Postpublished at 13:25 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 281-5

Mason Crane continues his pre-lunch spell following the resumption and there is certainly some turn there now for the Glamorgan leggie.

His first over ends with a superb delivery which just beats the edge of Kai Smith's bat as he gropes forward.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:23 BST 9 September

    Gohar lbw Raine 2 (Durham 252 v Middlesex 160-7)

Ben Raine picks up where he took off just before lunch by taking the wicket of Zafar Gohar lbw for two.

Raine accounted for Ryan Higgins in the final over before the interval and now takes his third wicket of the innings early in the afternoon session.

Harry Duke (13*) is joined by Seb Morgan with Middlesex trailing by 91.

  15. Good end to the morning for Durhampublished at 13:23 BST 9 September

    Middlesex 156-6 v Durham 252

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The first hour of the day seemed to offer little for the Durham bowlers but things changed when Kasey Aldridge and Will Rhodes were introduced into the attack.

Aldridge could have had a wicket in each of his first two overs, but then got one in his third anyway, as Max Holden edged to Colin Ackermann at third slip. He was on 43 at the time and it ended a partnership of 62 runs with Nathan Fernandes for the third wicket.

Later in the session Middlesex went on to lose 3-23 in 5.2 overs as Fernandes fell for 27, Ben Geddes for 11 and Ryan Higgins for eight - all in the run-up to lunch.

Durham lost two wickets on the cusp of lunch on day one as well. There must be something in the water.

At the interval, Middlesex were still 96 behind at 156-6 and as things stand Durham need 15 more points to go up.

  16. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 13:22 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 335-7 v Essex

Pressure firmly on Essex to wrap up this innings, still without Jamie Porter, who went off apparently injured before the break.

Yorkskhire were 139-5 in the middle session of play yesterday and now look good for at least a third batting point.

It has clouded over a little since lunch but we're ready to go.

Kuldeep Yadav is 26 not out and will face Zaman Akhter to get this session started.

    Dom Bess has 51.

  17. Afternoon session underway at Hovepublished at 13:21 BST 9 September

    Sussex 117-2 v Surrey

Charlie Tear and Oli Carter, both on 31 - are back in the middle.

Spinner Rahul Chahar to bowl first, attempting to Get Carter.

It's an old joke, really... Sorry.

With Jamie Porter injured, is Sam Cook en route as a replacement having been relieved of England duties earlier?

    Richard, Southend

We have no word on that yet, Richard, but what we can tell you is that Shane Snater took his 200th first-class wicket during the morning against Yorkshire.

  19. Women's One-Day Cup updatepublished at 13:09 BST 9 September

Warwickshire bowled out Glamorgan for 69 on day one in the men's County Championship, but it's been a very different story for their women's team today.

They were dismissed for just 55 in the Women's One-Day Cup as Surrey seamer Kate Coppack took 5-22 in seven overs.

Captain Katie George, with 12, was the only Warwickshire batter to reach double figures and Surrey knocked off the runs in just 10.2 overs, reaching 59-0 to win by 10 wickets.

Any hope I had when Notts were 20-3 has long evaporated, doesn't look like Hants or Glam going to do Somerset any favours, looks like rain is the only hope of denying Notts and Warks near-full points.

    Bernard, York

This finish to the County Championship feels remarkably tight: when was the last time three teams were within 5 points of each other at this stage?
