WICKETpublished at 14:35 BST 9 September

    Coles LBW b Lomror 10 - Sussex 190-4 v Surrey

    Excellent from Mahipal Lomror.

Tossed up, drifting, dipping and striking the pad in front of middle.

James Coles misses an attempted sweep and he will make way for John Simpson.

  2. 300 runs

300 lead for Warwickshirepublished at 14:34 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 370-7

Manav Suthar lofts a ball from Ben Kellaway straight down the ground for six as Warwickshire's lead passes 300 at Sophia Gardens.

Glamorgan have again turned to the off-spinner even though the ball is only eight overs old - and the Bears have 19 overs left after this one to try and add 80 more runs for a full set of batting points.

  3. wicket

WICKET - and Yorkshire all outpublished at 14:32 BST 9 September

    White LBW b Critchley 0 - Yorkshire 390 v Essex

Two wickets in two balls. Matt Critchley ends the innings with 5-85!

Jack White is forward trying to defend, hit on the knee roll in front of off stump.

That's the innings. Back in 10 minutes.

Matt Critchley is a underrated and probably underused bowler what with Simon Harmer normally in the ranks for Essex but has showed what he can do here.

WICKETpublished at 14:32 BST 9 September

    Brown c Patterson-White b Sheat 14 (Notts 377 v Hampshire 159-5)

Ben Brown goes as he edges Fraser Sheat to Liam Patterson-White at first slip.

He tried to get that one away into the off side but it's caught the edge and flown into the fielder's hands.

Hampshire five down and still needing another 69 to avoid the follow on.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 14:30 BST 9 September

Worcestershire are keeping it fairly tight at New Road but have yet to take a Northants wicket since lunch. The visitors are 162-4 in the 53rd over, with Saif Zaib now 72 not out and James Sales on 21.

Lancashire remain in deep trouble on 60-6 against Gloucestershire - but another three runs will at least give them the small consolation of making sure they could not be asked to follow on.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:29 BST 9 September

    Cliff c Killeen b Critchley 14 -Yorkshire 390-9 v Essex

The Ben Cliff cameo is over.

Tossed up by Matt Critchley and Cliff gets a good piece of it as he belts the ball down the ground, but it's taken by Mitch killeen.

    Jack White to bat.

  7. Postpublished at 14:29 BST 9 September

    Sussex 187-3 v Surrey

Dan Worrall is back in the Surrey attack and he gets away with a rare short, wide ball that is played to cover for no run.

James Coles is forward to defend a much better line and length ball.

Worrall gets one to nip back sharply and hit the pad but it's too high for LBW and the appeal is quickly muted.

  8. Postpublished at 14:25 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 390-8 v Essex

    Hello!

Mitch Killeen back into the Essex attack and he could hardly have imagined this shot by Dom Bess.

Marginally back of a length outside off stump and Bess is across, falling on his backside to hook it to fine leg for four!

I've only ever seen Harry Brook and Rishabh Pant play that shot before.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:25 BST 9 September

    Bell-Drummond b Aitchison 34 (Derbys 300 v Kent 149-7)

Another big blow for Kent’s pursuit of any batting points as their last recognised batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond falls.

A ball just short of a good length from Ben Aitchison skids through a touch low and gets through Bell-Drummond playing back and takes out his off stump.

Derbyshire moving closer to a big first-innings lead.

    Nick Kelly receives treatment

Before he was dismissed, Leicestershire batsman Nick Kelly managed to get stung by a wasp!

He’s back in the pavilion now but who knows how that may have affected him.

  11. Postpublished at 14:22 BST 9 September

    Sussex 180-3 v Surrey

James Coles is back and across to Mahipal Lomror, cutting through cover for a single - and Charlie Tear keeps the strike with a single to mid-wicket.

A little pause in play as Tear changes his gloves.

Matt Fisher bowls an off stump line on a good length to Charlie Tear, who plays compactly into the off side then leaves a wider ball outside his off stump.

A push into the off side and an aborted single nearly results in James Coles being run out as Tear sends him back.

  12. Postpublished at 14:21 BST 9 September

    Notts 377 v Hampshire 158-4

Jake Lehmann's scoring rate has understandably slowed down from that red hot start.

He was going at a run-a-ball for a long time with plenty of boundaries and is on 47 from 71 now.

Ben Brown tucks Dillon Pennington away for four to move to 14.

  13. Porter injury compounds Essex problemspublished at 14:20 BST 9 September

    Yorks 382-8 v Essex

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Yorkshire, as they should, are taking advantage of Essex’s misfortune.

They batted sensibly this morning, adding 94 to extend their innings into a fifth session. George Hill again demonstrated his qualities with the bat before being caught and bowled off Shane Snater for 40.

Dom Bess went through to a patient half century with good support from Kuldeep Yadav in a stand of 83.

Essex’s problems were compounded when Jamie Porter had to go off mid session after pulling out of his run up. Porter was due to rest for the last Championship game against Sussex but was soon on the field anyway as a substitute after an early injury to Charlie Bennett.

Six Championship rounds after 20 August always looked ambitious and we are certainly now seeing the consequences.

Essex might be thinking that a draw with a good haul of batting points would be a good outcome from here.

  14. Durham begin second inningspublished at 14:18 BST 9 September

    Durham 252 & 9-0 v Middlesex 203

Alex Lees and Ben McKinney get promotion-chasing Durham under way in their second innings at Chester-le-Street.

They had a healthy lead of 49 runs at the halfway stage and the opening duo will be looking to build that up through the afternoon.

  15. 50 runs

50 partnership for Northantspublished at 14:17 BST 9 September

    Worcs 200 v Northants 152-4

Short ball from Adam Finch which Saif Zaib pulls emphatically over mid-wicket for four runs. He progresses to 63 not out and that brings up a half-century partnership with James Sales.

  16. Postpublished at 14:17 BST 9 September

    Yorkshire 380-8 v Essex

Ben Cliff, batting with a wide stance - gets his first boundary, belting a full ball from Matt Critchley safely through long on for four.

Single to Dom Bess facing Tom Westley - and Cliff gets four more, reaching around to swipe a loopy off side ball round the corner.

  17. Third batting point for Warwickshirepublished at 14:16 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 352-7

Timm van der Gugten comes in from round the wicket and Manav Suthar drives to the short cover boundary as Warwickshire's total passes 350.

They still have another 20 odd overs to try and make it a maximum haul of eight bonus points in the game.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:14 BST 9 September

    Walkden c Bracey b Williams 1 (Lancs 43-6 v Glos 212)

Three wickets gone for three runs as Ben Walkden is caught behind off Will Williams. George Balderson walks out at number eight with his side's first innings in disarray.

How can Lancs Director of Cricket and Coach survive this calamity of a season ?

    Paul, Manchester

  19. Postpublished at 14:12 BST 9 September

    Sussex 176-3 v Surrey

Solid defending down the ground from James Coles to see out the Matt Fisher over.

Left arm spinner Mahipal Lomror continues at the other end and Charlie Tear gets a single to long leg.

  20. Postpublished at 14:08 BST 9 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 343-7

Kai Smith takes a stride forward, turning a ball from Timm van der Gugten into a half volley and cover drives for four.

The way things are shaping, could we have a situation at the end of this round of games when the top three teams all have the same number of points? Wouldn't that be exciting?

Van der Gugten finds a leading edge later in the over but the ball flies into a gap and Manav Suthar adds a single.
