    Joe Clarke continues his great campaign in the County Championship by bringing up fifty by scampering back for a second run off Michael Booth.

    The landmark comes up off 92 balls.

    It is not easy conditions for batting, but Clarke has looked largely untroubled.

    Well, he only lasts two balls after his bowling heroics.

    He plays around this one after the not-so-surprising bumper he got first ball.

    Henry Crocombe almost walks for this one.

    Remember yesterday he had Craig Overton controversially adjudged caught down the leg side, so even more fire in those two balls from Overton.

    Sean Hunt, so often ravaged by injury, is not known for his batting, Sussex still trail by nine.

    They're back on for the umpteenth time in Cardiff.

    Division One's bottom side Hampshire will want to wrap this up quickly and take a slender first-innings lead.

    Another good catch in the slips from Tom Abell who took three in the third innings off Jack Leach at home to Essex last week.

    This time he is showing Craig Overton how to do it off the North Devon man's bowling, a good length, squaring the Northern Irish batter up.

    Just 10 balls, three runs for Jack Carson.

    Five-fer and hat-trick hero, Surrey bound next month, Henry Crocombe in at nine with no Ollie Robinson for this match.

    Surrey, dominant for so many recent seasons in domestic cricket, are in the midst of a relegation fight in 2026.

    Essex continue to pile on the runs at Chelmsford with Dean Elgar up to 86 and Charlie Allison on 40 in a stand worth 107.

    Surrey have only won once all season - they might struggle to add to that here.

    Great start for Leicestershire and a key wicket.

    James Wharton goes to his second ball of the day as Ian Holland gets one to nips away and take the outside edge.

    A fifth catch for Jonny Tattersall behind the stumps.

    Dom Bess joins George Hill and Yorkshire are in real trouble.

    Back to back boundaries for Daniel Bell-Drummond, opening the face effortlessly to run James Sales to the vacant third rope and then cracking the next ball through the covers to the fence.

    The Kent skipper is into the 40s.

    After a single Matt Milnes carves through the covers for four off the fourth ball, a no-ball, and all of a sudden Kent are eight away from the second batting point after an expensive over from James Sales.

  9. Delayed day two begins at Scarborough

    Yorks 144-5 v Leics

    We managed almost 53 overs yesterday before the deluges arrived over North Marine Road.

    Finally we're back. Josh Hull completes his over with a single ball which is wide and left alone by George Hill

    A profitable over which removed Jonny Bairstow - albeit almost 23 hours ago.

    James Wharton played well yesterday for his 70 but now it's time to reset with Yorkshire's innings in the balance.

    Yuzi Chahal is having a breather so James Sales has returned to the attack with a ball now 72 overs old.

    A second bonus point was the minimum Kent would have expected this morning, but it feels a very long way away at the moment.

    A quiet period after lunch as Colin Ackermann and Ollie Robinson rebuild after the slightly overly confident batting of those above them in this morning's session.

    Risk free cricket from them has the lead now at 127 with power bowling allrounders to hit out later if needed.

    Golden arm Dan Mousley in after lunch to complete his first over after removing Ben Martindale with his second ball.

    Jack Haynes nudges his first ball just past leg slip and it runs for four. That wasn't so far away.

    A more convincing shot next up brings a single, before Joe Clarke flick adds one more to his total and brings up within six of a half-century.

  13. Sussex 188-6 v Somerset 202

    John Simpson had his luck before lunch, dropped off Lewis Gregory, now he edges the man who dropped him for four.

    Craig Overton's mood worsens, but he mostly has himself to blame as he was the one who dropped the catch.

    He may have mellowed in his first week as a father, but we do not often see his mood after two dropped catches in a session.

  14. Division Two latest

    Lancs are now 70-5 at New Road as Arav Shetty has holed-out to mid-off, driving spinner Fateh Singh, for just four.

    Not a great choice in the context of the game.

    Rain has delayed the resumption at Derby where the hosts are 79-3 against Middlesex.

    Matt Milnes goes on to the back foot and crunches Calvin Harrison through the covers for a couple to get off the mark.

    Reading some of the comments from Somerset fans there seems to be a sense of entitlement to winning. Shame England didn't send Ollie and Jofra back for this game at Hove. But that would be unfair!

    Sai Kishore resumes proceedings after lunch at CLS to Colin Ackermann who is 15*.

    Ollie Robinson started with a four and a two first two balls, but now resumes on 11* off 19 at the non-striker's end.

    Still 73 overs remaining weather permitting.

    Dean Elgar and Charlie Allison resume batting for a dominant Essex.

    Elgar is up to 73 with his 10th four of the innings.

    What sort of lead can the hosts build? They're only 45 in arrears.

  20. Resumption at Hove

    For potentially the last time in August first-class cricket at Hove a session will resume with just one ball remaining, not due to the weather.

    From October the MCC laws state they have to complete the over before the session ends.
