It's also his first century at Edgbaston at the 31st time of asking, across County Championship, white-ball and England under-19 appearances. Nice milestone.

Wth Notts beginning to race along, Bears skipper Ed Barnard decides to take the new ball with just two overs of the day remaining.

Joe Clarke sensibly gets off strike with a single off Ethan Bamber's second ball to go to 145.

He may be happy to watch the final 10 balls from the non-striker's end.

Fraser Sheat pushes at the final ball and edges just in front of Sam Hain at first slip who takes it on the half-volley.

Short and wide from Jordan Thompson and Joe Clarke cuts imperiously for four. You can't bowl there.

Was that a drop? Clarke looks to hook but it deflects off either glove or arm behind to Alex Davies. The wicketkeeper can't readjust in time to take the catch.

A single takes Clarke to 144.

Fraser Sheat continues on his merry way with a fourth boundary. And two more takes hm to 27 and Notts within three of a second batting point.

Ethan Bamber is back for a fourth spell today perhaps warming up for the new ball which is available in just two overs' time.

Somerset win day two, having batted much better in sunnier conditions second time round.

Craig Overton dropped two slip catches this morning, but also finished with four wickets as John Simpson made 64* with the lower order. Sussex just reaching the sole batting point of the match thanks to two sixes from number 11 Jaydev Unadkat. He fell lbw to Jack Leach missing a sweep with his side on 250.

Tom Lammonby and Josh Thomas had a brilliant opening partnership which saw the latter just miss out on 50, getting a leaper from Sean Hunt.

But Lammonby continued his great form from the One Day Cup, reaching 74* alongside overseas Henry Nicholls (12*), professionally knocking it around with ease.

Can Notts get up to that second batting point?

You feel this pair may have to do the bulk of the heavy lifting if that's the case, with only former Bears paceman Olly Stone and Dillon Pennington to come.

And Sheat survives a drop on three.

Swing from Jordan Thompson draws the outside edge and it flies at a comfortable height for Rob Yates at second slip.

He's taken a couple of crackers today, but shells the easier one despite a couple of grabs in vain.

Henry Crocombe goes for three singles off his tenth over, he has bowled a fair spell, but I guess with him moving to Surrey at the end of next month, Sussex should make the most of him and bowl him as much as possible, especially with their depleted seam stocks.

Fraser Sheat is in for his debut knock for Nottinghamshire.

The New Zealander was drafted straight into the side following his signing this week.

It's his second taste of Championship cricket after a spell with Glamorgan a few years back.
