    Aaaaaand they've gone off for rain again at Sophia Gardens. I think that's the fourth or fifth rain delay so far.

    Milnes lbw b Procter 37 (Northants v Kent 336-9)

    A precious stand of 80 between Daniel Bell-Drummond and Matt Milnes has Kent 14 runs shy of a third batting point, but they only have one wicket left.

    Milnes has played brilliantly for his 37 but looks to the sky after getting his line wrong as he tries to drive Luke Procter down the track and is thumped on the pad infront.

    Up goes the finger and Matt Parkinson is the man tasked with trying to help Kent find these 14 runs to match Northants' now three bonus points.

    Now John Simpson joins the six hitting to add to his six fours off his 90 balls faced.

    Josh Shaw has not had a good game, backing questions as to why he was chosen over the differing left arm angle of JT Langridge for this game.

    Sussex are getting close to a batting bonus point now as the next ball is carved for four too, too short and wide from Shaw.

    First-class century number 56 for Dean Elgar and a hundred that has put his side in complete control against Surrey.

    Essex's lead is up to 26 and they still have seven wickets in hand.

    Surrey are staring down the barrel.

    Shot!

    Ed Barnard overpitches and Joe Clarke plays a lovely straight drive back past the bowler for back-to-back boundaries.

    The Bears skipper then strays onto the pads of Lyndon James who clips a welcome four. Will that get the all-rounder going?

    Mixed bag here from Josh Hull but he looks the man most likely to make the breakthrough.

    George Hill looks to pull but gets a big top edge. It flies high in the air but drops agonisingly safe and runs for four.

    The Yorkshire batter is squared up by the final ball, but he plays it with sift hands and runs past gully for a single.

    Whisper it, Yorkshire fans, but a decent partnership is beginning to build.

    Anything short, particularly with a short leg side is in danger of going there for six.

    He hit two at Edgbaston and his two scoring shots today are leg side sixes!

    Ball lost and famous ball lady Brenda brings out the box of spares.

    Ben Sanderson had some joy with celebrappeals earlier on, but not this time.

    He thumps Daniel Bell-Drummond on the pad and wheels away with the ball in the air but it looked high and leg-side and the finger remains down this time.

    The skipper remains on 55* with Matt Milnes on a breezy 37*.

    Ed Barnard throws his hands in the air as Lyndon James almost chops on.

    Instead the inside edges misses the stumps and runs for four to get the all-rounder off the mark. It brings up the 150.

    A big play and miss from James as an attempted drive flies past the edge.

    Lancs are 115-7.

    George Balderson is bowled by Beyers Swanepoel for five, playing inside the line at one which straightened up and clattered the top of off.

    Worcestershire are trying to force themselves into the promotion race, make no mistake.

    A good comeback over from Josh Hull which tempts George Hill into flashing a ball outside off stump which gets some nice lift and beats the bat.

    That's what he can bring.

    James Hayes may not start his 15th over.

    Olly Hannon-Dalby returns to the Bears attack after his six-over burst this morning.

    As well as removing Haseeb Hameed, OHD has been in the thick of things in the field, too. On the money and challenging the stumps. Maiden.

    Sussex 224-9 v Somerset 202

    There it is, as expected, the dynamic lower order batter Jaydev Unadkat does like hitting sixes, and does so for his first scoring shot.

    Josh Shaw is at long leg, that ominous catching position that saw Tom Lammonby and Archie Vaughan caught there unprofessionally in the Somerset first innings, but the Indian clears him.

    That is the only scoring shot of Miggy Pretorius' 14th over.

    Back out after a short rain delay at New Road where Lancashire are 110-6.

    No such luck at Derby though where the game against Middlesex is still delayed.

    James Hayes thought he had Ollie Robinson caught behind on 26, he heard a noise and James Bracey takes a good catch low in front of first slip.

    Maybe it was pad not bat?

    LBW would not have been far away either surely a good shout one way or t'other?

    Here's a question... Kent are 31 shy of a third batting bonus point, Northants are one wicket away from a third bowling point.

    Given the iffy weather forecast over the next couple of days should Daniel Bell-Drummond declare on himself to ensure parity, preserving their four-point advantage in the Division Two standings?

    Matt Milnes has moved to 27* which is his 1,000th First Class run for Kent.

    The leaders are in bother as the Bears strike again.

    Ed Barnard traps Kyle Verreynne in front and has to go.

    The South African is not happy and indicates he got an edge on that, while Joe Clarke at the non-striker's suggested it was doing too much and going down leg.

    But he's on his way and passes new man Lyndon James.

    Hunt c Lammonby b Pretorius 6 Sussex (210-9 v Somerset 202)

    A battling six from Sean Hunt does not look impressive, but 30 balls took it past the frustrating level for Somerset, and he helped John Simpson get Sussex into an eight-run lead before being caught at point.

    The dangerous Jaydev Unadkat (averages 16 with a best of 92 in fc) in at 11.

    I thought he would bat at nine ahead of the two young English seamers, but anyhow, he won't likely hang around, likes to feel bat on ball, this usually goes one of two ways!
