    Dom Bess crunches a drive through the covers for four and then cuts the former Somerset bowler behind square for two more.

    A lot rests on this pair if Nottinghamshire are to put on a decent first inninsg score after being out in.

    Joe Clarke flashes at the fifth ball and will be relieved to see the outside edge bounce straight into the ground.

    A big landmark in his sights as he closes in on 1,000 Championship runs for the season. Will he beat Durham's David Bedingham to become the first to reach four figures?

    Northants getting a touch frustrated as the ninth-wicket partnership between Daniel Bell-Drummond and Matt Milnes reaches 61.

    The hosts have not helped their cause one bit by allowing 36 extras, including 18 no-balls, all from the David Capel End.

    The highly-capable Kasey Aldridge in to bat at number nine, with Brydon Carse and Matt Potts still to come!

    Remember that impressive final game at Taunton Aldridge century last September before he moved up north.

    Durham just bat ludicrously deep this match with no Duanne Olivier and Callum Parkinson.

    Ollie Robinson is 22* and can just keep batting, he should not fear running out of partners any time soon if the other three bat anywhere near what their potential shows.

    Sai Kishore gets a second reward this innings for a long afternoon spell.

    He had been bowling around, then changes to over the wicket and gets Colin Ackermann

    Seven fours in his 69 balls and a very swift, march off exit from Ackermann who is fuming, I have not seen someone walk that quickly off a pitch that is not a seam bowler running off to get his bowling boots on!

    The skipper's sixth boundary of the innings, pulled to the deep square rope with the first delivery with the new ball, brings up Daniel Bell-Drummond's half-century from 81 balls.

    The next ball is absolute chaos, however, a huge lbw appeal, a leg-bye run and almost a calamitous run-out, with some suspect fielding to boot.

    The kind of clip that goes viral on social media accounts featuring the word 'village'.

    Kyle Verreynne is okay to continue.

    Joe Clarke continues to impress as he climbs into a cover drive to pick up three more.

    But Division One's top scorer this season finally coughs up a chance.

    A super ball from Ethan Bamber gets high on Clarke who edges it just in front of Sam Hain at first slip.

    A probing over ends with a thick edge for four as Clarke moves to 65.

    Dan Douthwaite (20*) and Timm van der Gugten (13*), both with first-class averages north of 20, are handy to have coming in at eight and 10.

    The deficit is just 18.

    Decent fight from Sean Hunt, hanging in there for his senior batting partner John Simpson who is 33* off 69 balls.

    Hunt's first scoring stroke, a one off Craig Overton, gets them there.

    Good rebuilding from these two without the crash, bang, wallop of those above them, eking out batting points, ensuring Durham take maximum batting points potentially and maybe only have to bat once in this game.

    Colin Ackermann 37* and Ollie Robinson 22* as the Glos loanee seamers rotate again.

  15. Second batting point for Kent

    Northants v Kent 304-8

    Daniel Bell-Drummond and Matt Lines have steadied the ship with a useful stand of 48 which has brought up a second batting point for the visitors.

    Milnes has 25* from 52 balls with DBD on 45 at the other end.

    Still 30+ overs to try and find another 50 runs for a third bonus point and there's a small but noisy contingent of travelling fans from the Garden of England who seemingly want them to do just that.

  16. Division Two update

    Keaton Jennings has fallen for 55 at New Road.

    After bringing up his half-century from 112 balls he's been caught by Adam Hose at second slip, edging off Beyers Swanepoel and Lancs are 102-6.

    Still off for rain at Derbyshire v Middlesex.

    Yorks 150-6 v Leics

    Josh Davey's line strays a little and George Hill takes advantage to tuck him away off the backfoot and get off the mark with a boundary.

    It also brings up the 150 for the hosts.

    Durham earnt their first batting point, but have continued to be progressing slowly against improved Gloucestershire and loanees' bowling.

    JT Langridge impressing further now David Bedingham has gone to stop taking him down.

    The lead 133 now.

    Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar gets Charlie Allison just as he was looking nailed on for a half-century.

    Jack Haynes takes a step forward to an Ethan Bamber ball which moves away and takes the outside edge.

    It flies quick and low to Yates at second slip who dives to his right to take a fine low two-handed catch.

    The Bears are right on top again.
