    We were doing well in terms of the weather, with a few heavy showers drifting to the north of us. But the last one had a sting in its tail and dropped a lot of water on us very quickly.

    The big covers are now on and the umpires have called an early tea which will start at 3.30pm. The sky to the west, which is delivering today's weather, does not look the best at the moment.

    There are a few more heavy showers bubbling up and as things stand the radar doesn't seem to show any improvements until about 5pm.

    But, the game is advanced and Durham are in an excellent position to try and push on for another three-day win. They are 160 ahead at 297-7.

    David Bedingham fell for 122 before lunch, while only one wicket has fallen in the afternoon session, as Colin Ackermann was caught behind off Sai Kishore on 38.

    It is a bit embarassing when you have to rely on your young fast-bowling allrounder at seven to bail the experienced top order out.

    But bail out with Tom Bailey, Ben Walkden is.

    The outfield seems to be quickening after yesterday's rain.

    His partner George Hill comes down for a word. He has a fifty in his sights and does not want to run out of partners.

    The chat didn't work. Four balls later Coad looks to go down the ground but chips an easy catch to Hamza Shaikh at mid-off.

    A third wicket for Hull and Ben Cliff is next man.

    Left-armer Jaydev Unadkat takes it after hitting two sixes for his 12 before being the last man to fall.

    Josh Thomas takes his first ball for two continuing his positive breakthrough season as an opener for Somerset.

    Daniel Bell-Drummond departs, nicking Luke Procter behind to Lewis McManus as he tries to flick a single.

    From 162-0 to 256-8 and now 345 all-out. Kent fans must have whiplash from the rollercoaster.

    it means Northants have closed within three points in the race for Division Two promotion, and they can narrow it further if they can build a first-innings lead.

    45 overs left on the slate today. Huge not just for the this game, but potentially for the context of the season.

    The Indian all-rounder has Elgar caught by Rory Burns for a fine 113.

    13 balls negotiated by last-man Matt Parkinson, who is yet to get off the mark, but has supported Daniel Bell-Drummond, who takes Kent within five runs of a batting point with a lovely drive to mid-on off Luke Procter.

    Josh Hull bowls a full ball outside off stump, tempting Dom Bess to drive.

    The trap works and Bess smacks it straight to Nick Kelly at backward point.

    Somerset wrap it up and it is the very miserly Jack Leach.

    1-12 off 7.4 is superb work on a non-turning pitch.

    Jack admitted at Taunton last week he had not yet found near his best form this year having barely bowled in pro cricket across August. Somerset's three spinners in their list-A top five meaning his services were barely required so he more often turned out for Taunton Deane on Saturdays.

    He tied up an end and eventually saw Jaydev Unadkat miss a sweep.

    John Simpson left 64* but at least he saw his side to one batting point.

    Dom Bess pulls a short ball from Josh Hull around the corner and finds the gap between the boudnary riders for four.

    It takes Yorkshire past 200.

    Next target will be the first batting point.

    Dom Bess picks up a single off Tom Scriven and that's the fifty partnership for the seventh wicket with George Hill.

    And boy did Yorkshire need it. The partnership has come off 90 balls. Nicely played.

    Only dealing in sixes it seems now and is that Jack Shantry's car hit in the boundary side car park!?

    They are not going to delay play for the umpire to run over and check, he faces a nervous wait until this last wicket falls or the tea interval comes.

    Somerset can only blame themselves and their poor catching for still being out there, Josh Shaw being targeted whilst they are quite restrained against Jack Leach.

    Kent skipper Daniel Bell-Drummond has passed 10,000 first-class runs as he moves to 62* for the visitors.

    Matt Parkinson has showed solid defence in his scoreless seven-ball stay so far, but Kent are still 13 shy of a batting point.

    21 overs left to score bonus points, and 50 left on the slate for the day.

    I fear Somerset will again lose a promising young bowler (JT Longridge) due to favouring a poorer but older player. How Josh Shaw gets into any somerset team is beyond me.

    I want a glass of whatever is being served at Edgbaston if Bears supporters are not celebrating wickets against the best batting side in the league and Notts supporters are able to judge the exact flight of the ball more accurately than a professional umpire.

    Another stylish drive from Joe Clarke brings the Notts batter his 14th boundary. A single off Olly Hannon-Dalby then takes him to 80.

    He scored 94 and 82 against the Bears at Trent Bridge and is having another big impact today.

    Nine more for 1,000 Championship runs this season.
