With AJ Brimson, you've got to hold a clean defensive line against him. A fractured line from the Kumuls and he ate the ground in front of him.

    Dom Young (19 mins)

    More like it.

England finally get the play through the hands right again, getting out to Dom Young to score in the right corner.

This time Savala's kick hangs right and misses.

You get some spectacular views at the Wollongong Showground - those here for the England v Samoa women's match earlier caught the daylight and could see right out towards the sea.

Darkness has fallen for the men's match, but the view is still pretty special. Paul Eastwood, the British High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, is at the end England are attacking in the first half, and had a great sight of the teams emerging before kick-off.

There's playing hot and there's overplaying. That's overplaying. Hugo Savala not only throws a bad pass but a forward pass. Don't get overwhelmed with the occasion.

The Kumuls are finding the going tough. Papua New Guinea cannot find a break.

    England 12-0 Papua New Guinea

England do brilliantly to turn the ball over from the drop out, Herbie Farnworth with an improvised kick for AJ Brimson to chase - who is checked off the ball. Should have been a sin-bin.

England swing the ball back out to the right, but the chance goes begging.

Every point matters tonight. Hugo Savala, putting those two kicks - both tries scored on the sidelines - hugely important.

Harry Smith hangs high a kick to the left - dropped!

PNG have to ground on their own line and will drop out. Another scoring chance for England.

It's about building pressure. England need to keep the pressure on the Kumuls, keep them on the back foot, make them get offside. They could be crisper with their passing and catching.

The real space is being created around the edges where the big back-rowers are running.

13 minutes played, 12 points to England.

This is the start they wanted and needed.

Smith swings to Williams, they've gone right and Brimson goes himself! England are making hay. The Kumuls cannot live with the power, pace and strength of this England team.

CONVERTED TRY - England 12-0 Papua New Guineapublished at 09:20 GMT

    AJ Brimson (12 mins)

A driven kick by PNG is brilliantly caught overhead by AJ Brimson, who has been a standout player for England at this tournament.

Brimson leads the counterattack - and is the one to drive over for the second English try.

Hugo Savala makes it two from two, both from wide.

I think England's ferocity has slightly surprised the Kumuls.

Papua New Guinea turn the ball over 30 metres from their line - but England cannot take advantage as the ball gets away from Dom Young.

I think Brian McDermott will be disappointed the scoreline isn't 12-0.

    England 6-0 Papua New Guinea

A reminder that if England win by 68 points tonight, any Tonga win over Samoa on Sunday is good enough.

A win by any less means they need Tonga to make up the shortfall.

That's what you do when you have a try nearly scored against you, you fight back with some of your own really attractive, attacking rugby league.

Matty Ashton doesn't need an invitation to the tryline.

Farnworth releases Ashton, who gets his head down and scores! Brilliant try from England, they made the hard yards and executed out wide. Having almost been bust open at one end, they race up the other and open the scoring.

    Matty Ashton (7 mins)

This needs to be the first of many.

Lovely quick hands from the England backs, Herbie Farnworth teeing up Matty Ashton to score in the corner.

Hugo Savala scored 13 of 14 goal kicks against France last week, and brilliantly sends this one over from the left.

Dotoi indeed was just forced over the side line, but a real warning for England.

They need lots of points tonight, but they won't get them for free.
