That's not a bad way to start a final, is it? England's Ben East is the first to go and he puts down a lifetime best throw of 81.12m.

Neeraj Chopra of India was an Olympic champion in 2021 and he won silver at Paris 2024, but he can't match East's throw - 80.97 for him.

We've just been informed the wind speed was too high for Olivia Breen's opening jump to count as a Games record.

Record goes back to the original owner... still Olivia with 4.86m which won her gold in Gold Coast in 2018.

England boxer Ruby White said that she was "off to get a steak" to celebrate making Saturday's finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 19-year-old from Dorset progressed from the semi-finals with a second-round stoppage of Namibia's Mischa Araes.

“I wanted to be in there for the full three minutes, I was enjoying it so much," she said.

"Couldn’t ask for better. I’m a little bit lost for words, the job is not done yet. I’ve got to bring that gold medal home.

"I’m making everyone back home proud, which means the world to me.

"I’m going to give my mum a big fat cuddle and then I’m going to have an early night and get a steak before bed, that’s my good luck charm."

White is one of seven England boxers to reach the finals, equalling the country's best tally at a Commonwealth Games after also reaching seven finals in 1986 and 2018.

We're getting to the business end of the women's pole vault final.

Australia's Nina Kennedy, New Zealand's Imogen Ayris and Eliza McCartney are the last three standing and they're currently battling it out for gold at 4.55m.

The final action of the day in the velodrome is the Australian anthem ringing out after Agnoletto claims his gold, with 19-year-old Hobbs collecting bronze and Stewart's silver getting a huge cheer.

England's Sammy Ball has plenty of work to do if he's to get on the podium in the men's decathlon.

He was sitting in third earlier this evening, but a last-place finish in the javelin might have derailed his hopes of winning a medal.

Ball is now fourth, 109 points behind Tejaswin Shankar in the bronze-medal position with just the 1500m to go.

It's a new Commonwealth Games record first up for Olivia Breen.

She only gave up 0.17cm on the board, very, very good!

Only Maddie Down has jumped over 5m in her career in this field so far, boding very well for the Team Wales captain, who turned 30 on Sunday.

The Commonwealth Games is a chance for Wales' Olivia Breen to forget the heartbreak of Paris two years ago.

Breen just missed out on Paralympic bronze in the French capital by the narrowest of margins. She achieved the same distance of 4.99m as Columbia’s Karen Palomeque Moreno but lost out on a medal on the countback rule.

Hopefully she can get on the podium this evening. The 30-year-old has already secured a silver medal in the T38 100m earlier this week.

She kicks the final off with a season's best jump of 5.09m. She looks absolutely delighted with that!

Mohammed Azizulhasni Awang of Malaysia is a very popular winner of the men's keirin - a new anthem will out in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at these games.

The 38-year-old is tearful and breathing very heavily as the Malaysian flag is hoisted aloft.

It's silver for Leigh Hoffman of Australia and England's Harry Ledingham-Horn won an incredible bronze after an epic final packed with global talent.

How must it feel to be a decathlete?

Throwing the javelins into and almighty headwind, doing your best, then 20 minutes later watching the men's javelin competition warm up and throw 10 metres beyond any of your best efforts.

Five of the 12 finalists have PBs over 90 metres and they're casually chucking them over 70m just to get loose.

Time for the final medal ceremonies of the evening.

England boxer Ruby White says she is confident she can bring home the gold medal after powering past Namibia's Mischa Araes in the women's 51kg Commonwealth Games semi-final in Glasgow.

White, 19, set up a final against India's Sakshi after the referee stopped her contest against Araes in the second round.

"I can't believe it - 19 years old, my first year as a senior and I'm into the finals of the Commonwealth Games," White told TNT Sports.

"I'm so confident. I know I have got the skills and the tactics to win that gold medal and I just can't wait to bring it home for England and my county Dorset."

Mark Stewart rode an incredible race and led all the way to the final lap but Blake Agnoletto of Australia had conserved his energy and broke away to take the gold medal.

It's a brave silver for Stewart with a bronze for Henry Hobbs of England

England and Scotland are guaranteed a medal.
