Both Chris Gotterup and Scottie Scheffler are studying birdie putts on the 13th green.

Chris is first up and he gives his uphill 15-footer a proper rattle. Too much in fact as his ball clips the right edge and stays up.

Scheffler is looking at a left-to-righter to take the lead... he sets his ball off on the left edge and it bends into cup.

Solid from Ryan Gerard who barely touches the back of his ball to set it on its way towards the hole. It's got a dozen feet to travel and drops in the front left corner.

Hovland nudges in for his three too.

Ryan Gerard is on the par-three 11th and in a bunker that protects the front of the green. It's deep. So deep he can't see the putting surface. A decent splash out but he'll have 12 feet for par.

Viktor Hovland has found the green with his tee shot but he's got a bendy 40 footer to navigate. The world number 15 is aiming about six feet right of the hole and needs to get the speed spot on.

Another great putt by the Norwegian who coaxes his ball to within a couple of feet.

Chris Gotterup makes a chip-in birdie from 20 or so feet on the par-four 12th after just missing the green with his second shot. He's suddenly just two back.

Scottie Scheffler is in a great position to match that birdie but his 25-footer is shy of pace. Criminal.

Alex Fitzpatrick saves his par on the 18th, with a perfectly judged putt from eight feet to sign off for a four-under 66.

He is the highest-placed Englishman in the field in a tie for eighth at present, with Tommy Fleetwood in the clubhouse at 10 under overall.

The player that ends up eighth is scheduled to win around $1m (£739,000).

Viktor Hovland's lag putting has been on point today and he rolls another one to within four feet on the 10th hole to notch up another par.

Ryan Gerard is a little shy with his pace from 20 feet. That feels like a big miss given there wasn't much of a break in the putt.

The six-time major champion plays a laser-guided wedge into seven feet on the 12th and drops in another birdie. A couple more shaprish might make this very interesting indeed for the Northern Irishman.

"Go. Go. Go," implores Hovland as his ball lands on the front edge of the green. He's looking at a putt in excess off 40 feet for birdie. Gerard is around 20 feet away.

That's horrible for Ludvig Aberg, who finds the fairway bunker on the 10th and then struggles to get back in to decent shape with his second.

His wedge on flies almost 30 feet past the pin and he drops a shot just as his playing partner Adam Scott wafts an iron into three feet and then collects his first birdie of the day.

Stress-free pars for Scottie and Chris on the par-three 11th, although Gotterup may be slightly disgruntled to miss a birdie try from 18 feet.

This could be some fight down the closing nine holes. Nobody has been better on this stretch than the Norwegian this week.

Although, don't count out Ludvig Aberg just yet - the Swede has played the final three holes in a cumulative seven under par this week, with seven birdies and two pars.

But Scottie Scheffler is not passing up this opportunity. His ball never looked anywhere other than heading for the centre of the cup after it left his putter. He's back in a share of the lead.
