Scottie Scheffler is one good drive from wrapping this up. He's on the par-five last and needs to find the fairway to have a chance of going for the green in two.

Hmmm... interesting, Scheffler's drive disappears into the rough. Rory McIlroy was in there yesterday and he pulled his second shot onto the adjacent first fairway.

Meanwhile, back on the 17th...

OK Viktor, back to you. Again.

Time to roll in just a second birdie of the day... no! Oh wow. Hov drops his putter on the green. A second successive lip out. He can't believe that hasn't dropped.

This is very much in Scottie's hands now.

Over on the 17th and Scottie Scheffler is having a bit of a battle. He hit a great tee shot to leave himself an 85-yard wedge to the hole. But his radar is off. About 40 feet off.

And now he's mis-read the birdie putt, leaking it out to the left and he's going to have a six-footer for par. Dead centre. And breathe Scottie. A fist-bump with caddie Ted Scott and he wanders off chuntering to himself.

Viktor Hovland has to go full out attack and after finding the fairway down the 16th, he takes aim at the flag and his ball hops and skips and dances around the hole, to leave him a six-footer for an essential birdie.

Rory McIlroy coughs up another shot on the 17th, this time putting from inside seven feet for par. His fifth bogey of the day.

He then immediatly atones on the par-five 18th. It's been one of those days for the Northern Irishman, who aside from on Saturday has failed to find his rhythm.

It just hasn't been Viktor Hovland's day, you feel.

He's currently one over for his round and the stats tell the tale...

He was second, fourth and sixth for strokes gained with his putter during the first three days. He's 18th today.

His driving accuracy in this final round is 45%, It was 78.6%, 85.7% and 64.3% over the other three rounds.

Meanwhile, Hovland is on the 15th green, facing what is in fact a 16-footer for birdie. Great camera angle, right behind the hole.

He sets the ball off on a great line but gravity pulls his ball left and it lips out. Just a par.

Ryan Gerard, from nowhere, drains his 28-footer and is up to third.

There has been a suggestion that Viktor Hovland had a rules infraction in a bunker on the 13th hole. The accusation being that he touched the sand before hitting his ball, which, of course is not allowed.

However, because it could not be seen with the naked eye, then there will be no penalty.

With a zoomed in TV camera he did touch a few grains of sand, but it feels like sanity prevails. What do you think?

Adam Scott plays a superb tee shot and run his ball up pin high on the par-three 15th but his putt from around 18 feet then comes up slighty shy of the hole.

That really needed to drop for the Australian.

...and that's because Scottie Scheffler has drained his 11-footer on the 16th to get to 16 under and that gives him a two-shot lead over Viktor Hovland.

Chris Gotterup misses his par putt. Game over.

While Chris Gotterup is struggling with the pressure down the stretch, Viktor Hovland is suddenly loving it.

His tee shot to the par-three 15th is right on line. His ball bounces on the green and trundles up to about 12 feet. He's going to have a great chance to get to 15 under and he might just need to do that...

Is Chris Gotterup running out of steam, or just feeling the heat of playing alongside a purring Scottie Scheffler?

The three-time winner on the PGA Tour this year is in the rough off the 16th tee and can't make the green in two. His third, from 45 yards is bang average and he'll have an 18-footer to avoid dropping another shot.

...you may want to know that Scottie Scheffler is in a fairway bunker off the tee on the 16th...

...but as I'm writing that, he pings his ball from the sand into the heart of the green to leave himself an 11-footer for birdie.

Before you hit those thumbs...

Ryan Gerard has had several birdie chances today but his putter has been stone cold. Another one goes begging on the 14th, his ball dying away to the right.

That par will feel like a bogey.

But Viktor Hovland's par may well feel like a birdie. Big saver there. He stays one back. Bubbling up nicely.

Hit the thumbs - up for a Hovland win, down for a Scottie victory...

It's very much now or never for the Australian who went round in five under on Saturday.

Over on the 15th, Chris Gotterup nudges his ball from the rough up the green but he's not given that anywhere near enough and his ball pulls up 15 feet short.

Here's Scottie Scheffler looking to turn the screw from 17 feet. Oh wow. His ball grazes the right edge. Par.

Will Gotterup follow him in? No! Another timid putt and that bogey could end his hopes.

Viktor Hovland finds himself on the rough down the right of the 14th fairway and gouges another shot out of the thick stuff. A cameraman up by the green searches in vain for his ball. We wait to find out where that's gone.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gerard, from the more easy to play from first cut, finds the green, 30 feet from the hole.

The reason we couldn't see Viktor's ball is because it landed a good 90 yards short of the hole. But the Norwegian has a chance of saving par after nose-diving his wedge to four feet.

Rory McIlroy shakes his head as he rattles a birdie putt in from 23 feet. A couple of those on the front nine might have meant he was still right in this heading down the final two holes.

Instead there's a look of resignation that it's just just come too late to have any sort of impact with him four shots adrift of the leader Scottie Scheffler.

The 218-yard par-three 15th plays over water to a peninsula green.

Chris Gotterup is first up and his ball barely covers the pond. His ball is on dry land but only just, a collar of rough stopping it from retreating to a watery grave.

Scottie Scheffler is on it here though. A bullet of a tee shot lands in the heart of the green and releases up to the hole. It's not quite as good as his shot to the second which left a one-inch tap-in birdie but I'm sure he'd take a 17-footer right now.
