Strange from McLaren. I'm still trying to get my head around that. He's taken a pit stop and fallen down the order. It seems very early to make a call like that.

So George Russell is sixth, Oscar Piastri is seventh.
But having had a pretty middling outlap, Russell's somehow prospered from Piastri's slow stop.
That hard tyre is hellish when not up to temperature.

McLaren bring in Oscar Piastri in order to get the jump on George Russell and deploy a new set of hards.
But it's unbearably slow and Piastri comes out BEHIND Russell.

Hardly a surprise given Norris is on the soft tyre.

By which I mean it's a bit of a procession for now.

I feel this race highlights Russell's problem this season. No doubt he has also been unlucky but he lacks the killer instinct of his young teammate it's that simple. If Kimi wins the championship it's his skill not Russell's luck that is the reason

Piastri hasn't got the pace to catch up with the front two on those hard tyres but he has gained a position on Russell. Maybe he can start managing his tyres with the breathing room he's been given.

For the drivers on the soft tyre, they're going to have to make an impact pretty soon aren't they?
Charles Leclerc's donned the softs and is all over the back of George Russell's Mercedes.
On the other hand, can Oscar Piastri nurse his hards for the best part of 70 laps and go the distance? Surely not.
The early drama has made this a strategy spectacle.

Kimi Antonelli sets the fastest lap of the grand prix with a 1:16.552 so he's got that medium tyre up to temperature.
And he's now over a second ahead of Lando Norris who's going to be feeling the pressure on that soft tyre soon.
