    Sussex 393 & 160-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 232

James Coles is back to punch a short ball to point for one off Rahul Chahar.

More delays as Chahar redirects the field. Oli Carter pads up to a harmless leg side ball.

Carter drives to long off for one. James Coles gets one to deep mid-wicket as the fielder walks in to retrieve the ball.

200 up for Kentpublished at 16:03 BST 11 September

    Derbys v Kent 204-7 (Target: 434)

    Kent bring up 200.

This partnership between Grant Stewart and Bertie Foreman is now worth 60. Foreman sweeps coolly and sends Jack Morley to the square leg boundary.

Are we beginning to believe that a draw can be salvaged, Kent fans? Remember they were 38-5.

Ryan Patel is sat down in front of the boundary on the off side.

Here we go. Adam Thomas to bowl.

There is a slip cordon. A very deep one absolutely nowhere near the keeper. Crazy.

A full Thomas delivery is dug out by James Coles.

A short ball is pulled on the bounce to square leg. No run.

The seagulls are chirping more than the fielders now.

    Sussex 393 & 155-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 227

This all feels a bit silly now. The field is taking an age to settle.

Rahul Chahar is over the wicket and Oli Carter lets it go outside off.

Chahar has his shades back on though it is hardly sunny here.

The third ball is driven down the ground. James Coles walks a single and Dan Worrall keeps the ball inside the rope with a well placed boot.

  7. Postpublished at 15:55 BST 11 September

    Derbys v Kent 198-7 (Target: 434)

Jack Morley is bowling well. He gets the ball to grip and turn past Grant Stewart's outside edge. In a flash, the sharp Brooke Guest behind the stumps takes the bails just in case Stewart's back foot has wandered. It has not.

The next ball is an lbw shout, turning back into Stewart when pitching on leg, but it is not doing enough is the umpire's judgement.

  8. Postpublished at 15:54 BST 11 September

    Sussex 393 & 152-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 224

Adam Thomas has never taken a first class wicket and he's bowled with three slips in the latest over.

No alarm bells for Sussex though.

James Coles sees off the Adam Thomas over and Rahul Chahar will continue from the other end.

Chahar has dispensed with his shades, which now rest on the back of Umpire Jack Shantry's hat.

Left by Carter, turn away from the bat, bounce and just evading Matt Fisher, falling backwards at slip.

  10. Durham 'too good for Division Two'published at 15:47 BST 11 September

Quite simply, Durham have been far, far too good for Division Two. With the players they have been able to use this season, they would be more than a match for every single side in the division above.

A shocking batting collapse at Headingley on the final day of last season sent Durham back into Division Two after two years in the top flight, and they have played all season with a determination to erase that painful memory.

David Bedingham was the leading run-scorer in the division with 1,029 runs before he had to leave early to prepare for South Africa's Test series with Australia next month.

That included five centuries, two more than Emilio Gay, who hit three hundreds in six matches in early season to catapult him into the England Test team.

Matthew Potts has not featured for England since the Ashes last winter, but their loss has been Durham's gain with 58 wickets - the leading wicket-taker in the Championship this summer.

Throw in other strong contributions from captain Alex Lees and fellow opening batter Ben McKinney and the evergreen Ben Raine as Potts' new-ball partner and it's clear to see why the north east county have sailed to promotion.

And that's before we even mention Ben Stokes. Durham were already top at the time of his fallout with England in June, but Stokes has thrown himself wholeheartedly into Championship cricket since announcing stepping down as England captain and announcing his retirement from Tests.

Stokes has contributed with bat and ball and to add arguably world cricket's finest player from the last decade to Durham's side has made them untouchable.

Look at the margin of their victories, two by an innings, 10 wickets, nine wickets, eight wickets, 338 runs, they have usually been far too good for their opponents.

The title is only a matter of time as they must surely go down as arguably the strongest second-tier team since two divisions were introduced in 2000.

Four singles off an uneventful Rahul Chahar over in a match that is sliding to the inevitable draw.

Short from Adam Thomas and jabbed away by Oli Carter for one.

That's the innings 150 in the 56th over.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Grant Stewartpublished at 15:44 BST 11 September

    Derbys v Kent 190-7 (Target: 434)

That is fifty for Grant Stewart, and well deserved.

On what has been a difficult day for Kent's batting, he - along with Ekansh Singh and Chris Benjamin earlier - has taken the attack back towards Derbyshire and, although the runs required are too many, that has not stopped Stewart from looking to score at every opportunity.

Having fallen two runs short of 50 in the first innings, he makes sure to reach the milestone when his team need him by driving Shoaib Bashir through the covers for a couple.

  13. Postpublished at 15:39 BST 11 September

    Sussex 393 & 145-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 217

Adam Thomas will bowl a bit of medium pace now from the Cromwell Road End.

Oli Carter defends to extra cover. The fizz has gone out of this game and there's an overwhelming feeling of going through the motions.

Short and a short arm pull from Carter brings one.

A single to James Coles clipping to deep square.

  14. DURHAM ARE PROMOTED TO DIVISION ONEpublished at 15:39 BST 11 September
    Breaking

    Durham (252 & 374) beat Middlesex (203 & 330) by 93 runs

Durham are heading back to Division One!!

Brydon Carse has one ball at Naavya Sharma and that's all he needs as the number 11 nicks off a lifter off a length and it's the wicket to seal promotion.

Carse claims his fourth of the innings - 4-116 - to go with five in the first knock as Durham win by 93 runs.

But the jubilant players kindly let Harry Duke leave the field first after his brilliant 100 not out despite Middlesex's defeat - a maiden ton for the 'keeper.

  15. 100 runs

100 for Harry Dukepublished at 15:38 BST 11 September

    Durham v Middlesex 330-9 - target 424

Here we go, Harry Duke goes for another big hoick over leg.

    This must be it...

No, Ben McKinney can't get under it and not only that, the ball goes for four!

    Duke moves to 99.

Next ball, he taps into the offside and goes. Here comes the fielder to throw down at the striker's end.

The ball misses and Harry Duke has a maiden Championship century!

It's come off 127 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.

  16. Postpublished at 15:36 BST 11 September

    Sussex 393 & 143-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 215

Adam Thomas comes in at slip.

    Rahul Chahar bowls wearing shades.

Turn, bounce and James Coles misses with a big drive.

That's not the plan, is it?

Single off the second ball down the ground.

Oli Carter punches off the back foot for one.

This time Coles lets the ball go - but it turns the other way!

    Not far enough though.

Coles is beaten outside off but survives the over.

  17. Play resumes at the County Groundpublished at 15:35 BST 11 September

    Derbys v Kent 175-7 (Target: 434)

We are back playing in Derby, for the final time in the match.

Jack Morley has kickstarted the session with a maiden over to Bertie Foreman and now Shoaib Bashir will bring more spin from the other end when bowling at Grant Stewart.

  18. Postpublished at 15:34 BST 11 September

    Durham v Middlesex 325-9 - target 424

Brydon Carse is coming in for his 21st over of the innings and as we saw so often against India last summer and in Australia during the winter, he will keep charging in.

He persists with the short ball and on the third ball of the over, Harry Duke brilliantly hooks it for six.

The wicketkeeper is five away from his century and he keeps Durham's promotion party waiting.

  19. Final session begins at Hovepublished at 15:32 BST 11 September

    Sussex 393 & 141-3 v Surrey 321 - lead by 213

Both teams will be happy with a draw from here. Surrey will be a little further away from the drop zone than they were at the start of this round and Sussex will retain fourth place.

It's a bit gloomy here now after mostly sunshine this afternoon.

Here's James Coles facing Rahul Chahar on six not out.

Oli Carter is at the non-striker's end on 25.

  20. Postpublished at 15:28 BST 11 September

    Durham v Middlesex 319-9 - target 424

Wily old campaigner Ben Raine is brought back to bowl at number 11 Naavya Sharma.

Well batted Sharma, as he digs out a good yorker off the last ball to survive.
