    Oh dear.

When you're a struggling side, you can't afford to give wickets away.

Michael Jones is run out for 23 and they are 52-2 in the 26th over.

Only himself to blame as he calls for a single to point but Ben McKinney's throw to bowler Callum Parkinson finds him well short of the crease.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:51 BST 26 September

    Notts 251 & 79-9 v Yorks 179

Lyndon James steps down the pitch and launches Ben Coad straight to James Wharton at mid-off.

He really leathered that and Wharton can't hold on. James survives on 10.

Pretty sure this is the poorest Essex side I have seen in 50 years of watching them, the soul has left the club! Way too many has beens or never will be!

    Another one for Ben Allison!

Big inswinger is too good for Yousaf Bin Naeem who tries to play to mid-wicket but makes on contact and is leg-before.

A second one goes down for Surrey this morning.

Tom Abell drives in the air to Adam Thomas in the covers and down goes a pretty regulation chance.

    Giles b White 1 (Notts 251 & 79-9 v Yorks 179)

    Jack WhiteImage source, Shutterstock

Brilliant stuff from Jack White as he moves one away from Tom Giles' defensive push and clatters one into off stump.

That's a first five-wicket haul of the season for White who has four wickets this morning and has given Yorkshire every chance at Trent Bridge.

Notts have lost six wickets this morning for 24 runs and are collapsing in a heap.

  7. Latest from Old Traffordpublished at 11:44 BST 26 September

    Lancs 40-1 v Durham 493

Lancashire lose their first wicket as Keaton Jennings top edges a sweep shot off Callum Parkinson and Shafiqullah Ghafari takes a comfortable catch at square leg.

Jennings made 17 and has been replaced at the crease by Josh Bohannon.

    Kent 353 v Glos 229 & 121-4

Too much width from Matt Quinn. Daz Ahmed flashes hard and although it takes the top edge, the ball flies over the slips and away for four.

  10. Postpublished at 11:41 BST 26 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 129 & 5-0

Ray Toole rips one past Dean Elgar's edge.

The Kiwi then strays on the leg stump so Elgar can trot another single.

    Glamorgan need to be patient.

    Fernandes c Harrison b Conway 3 (Middx 5-1 v Northants - target 134)

Northamptonshire make the perfect start as they look to salvage their season.

Nathan Fernandes shuffles across his stumps and fences at a back-of-a-length delivery from Harry Conway. It hits high up on Fernandes' bat and Calvin Harrison takes a good slips catch.

Skipper Max Holden joins Sam Robson.

  12. 'A wonder catch'published at 11:39 BST 26 September

    Warks 372 v Leics 125 & 85-7 – Leics trail by 162

    Phil Britt
    BBC Radio WM

That’s an absolutely stunning one-handed catch. A wonder catch, you rarely see reactions like that. It’s hit him clean in the middle of the hand. He's caught it almost behind his shoulder.

  13. Postpublished at 11:38 BST 26 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 129 & 4-0

Paul Walter avoids the dreaded 'pair' as a misfield gifts him three runs to get Essex up and running in their second innings.

Dean Elgar nicks a single to end the first over from Timm van der Gugten.

  14. Giles survives Coad's hat-trick ballpublished at 11:38 BST 26 September

    Notts 251 & 78-8 v Yorks 179

Jack White strays on to the pads and Lyndon James takes full advantage, flicking it into the legside for a maximum.

It takes the Nottinghamshire lead to 150.

Tom Giles will now face the hat-trick ball from Ben Coad.

Ooof! Coad jags back one in and hits Giles. Cue HUGE appeal.

But Michael Gough is not getting carried away. Clearly going over. Not out.

  15. Postpublished at 11:35 BST 26 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 129 & 0-0

Out come the Essex openers of Dean Elgar and Paul Walter for a second stab at things.

For South African Elgar this will be his final innings before retirement - normally a study of concentration and patience he will need to come up with a trademark marathon stint to help save his side here.

Glamorgan can continue to attack with 376 runs still in the bank.

The pattern remains the same - but a rare bad ball from Brydon Carse is clipped to the square leg boundary by Keaton Jennings.

    Green c Young b Bamber 3 (Warks 372 v Leics 125 & 84-7 – Leics trail by 163)

    What a catch!

That absolutely flew off Ben Green's bat but Will Young's reactions are excellent - he reaches out a hand - and it sticks!

That ball was almost past him and it's a brilliant take - he takes the plaudits from his team-mates that are absolutely deserved.

Ethan Bamber the bowler among those saying thank you to Young for that take!

Bamber has 4-39 in the innings and 67 wickets for the season now.

    Kent 353 v Glos 229 & 115-4

A couple of fours for Kamran Dhariwal in the latest Keith Dudgeon over, the second run down past the slips to third man. The visitors are now just nine runs behind.

The older I get, the more the County Championship and its traditions resonate with me. Hoping that today sees Kent achieve promotion. In any event Adam Hollioake has proven himself a fine coach at Canterbury

    Hutton c Bess b Coad 0 (Notts 251 & 72-8 v Yorks 179)

Ben Coad is on a hat-trick!

He sends one down wide of off stump. Brett Hutton has no need to play it, but he pushes and edges to Dom Bess who grasps a really sharp chance at third slip.

The wickets have come with the final two balls of Coad's 12th over so he'll have to wait for his hat-trick ball.

Notts are in danger of ending their season with a second consecutive defeat.
