Essex are finding runs hard to come by.

The run rate is exactly one per over and now they have lost a second wicket.

Paul Walter goes for an 18-ball duck as he edges low to Colin Ingram who takes a fine catch off the bowling off Timm van der Gugten.

Charlie Allison joins Tom Westley in the middle.

    Lancs 6-0 v Durham 493

Final session under way at Old Trafford and Keaton Jennings glances Duanne Olivier fine for four.

  3. Sussex stretch lead to 250published at 16:05 BST 25 September

    Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 134-2

Tom Haines (62 not out) and Oli Carter (34 not out) are going along nicely for Sussex, who are in a fairly dominant position now against Hampshire.

  4. Notts begin second inningspublished at 16:04 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 & 3-0 v Yorks 179

Ben Coad gets us up and running after tea as Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater walk out to bat for the final time this season.

There's a change for the home side as Olly Stone has been replaced for the rest of the match by Tom Giles who comes in as an official injury sub.

Stone walked off the pitch straight after taking his fifth wicket shortly before tea.

The 32-year-old's career has been littered with injuries, but his fitness looked to have turned the corner this season.

  5. 150 runs

150 up for Somersetpublished at 16:02 BST 25 September

    Somerset 152-3 v Surrey 422

Tom Abell drives to the cover boundary and Somerset reach 150.

Batting looks the easiest it has all day.

  6. Postpublished at 16:01 BST 25 September

    Worcs 214 & 146-8 v Derbys 88

Matthew Waite runs a ball from Mo Abbas down past the slips for four. He angled the bat, a deliberate shot. Worcestershire now 272 ahead and Waite is 41 not out.

  7. 350 up for Warwickshirepublished at 15:59 BST 25 September

    Warks 352-9 v Leics 125

Sam Hain lofts Ajaz Patel back over his head for another four and Warwickshire have a third batting bonus point.

It's fairly academic as bonus points matter little now in the wider scheme of things - if the Bears avoid defeat, they will be champions.

  8. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 15:57 BST 25 September

    Somerset 147-3 v Surrey 422

Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell bring up a 50 partnership together.

They still trail Surrey by 275 runs.

  9. Postpublished at 15:54 BST 25 September

    Warks 347-9 v Leics 125

Sam Hain, now batting alongside last man Olly Hannon-Dalby, crashes two fours to the off-side fence and is now 123 not out off 268 balls.

Warwickshire need three more runs for another batting bonus point.

  10. wicket

    Elgar c Cooke b van der Gugten 2 (Glamorgan 505 v Essex 2-1)

    An early one for Glamorgan.

Dean Elgar is retiring at the end of the season so this might be his final innings for Essex.

He edges behind off Timm van der Gugten.

Essex skipper Tom Westley is in to join Paul Walter.

Somerset's Tom Abell (20*) goes to 1,000 first class runs for the summer.

He is building a good stand here with Tom Lammonby (67*).

  12. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:52 BST 25 September

    Lancashire 2-0 v Durham 493

Lancashire's openers survive a five-over mini-session before the interval with Brydon Carse roaring in at one end after hitting an unbeaten 58 at the tail-end of Durham's marathon first innings.

They added 138 to their overnight 355-5, with Ollie Robinson also passing 50, despite the best efforts of spinner Noman Ali, who took 6-166.

It's a decent batting track and the Durham attack lacks its usual strength in depth, but this is - as we have already said - a very big task ahead for the Red Rose.

    Compton c Hammond b Taylor 126 (Kent 326-8 v Gloucestershire 229)

    Ben ComptonImage source, Shutterstock

Last over before tea and Ben Compton's long vigil comes to an end.

The left-handed opener tries to cut a wide ball from Matt Taylor and is caught behind by stand-in keeper Miles Hammond - a far easier chance the one Hammond took to remove Ekansh Singh earlier on.

Compton batted for over six hours, faced 244 balls and hit 14 fours.

His dismissal brings tea at the St Lawrence Ground with Kent 97 ahead, and with two batting bonus points in the bag.

  14. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:47 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 165-4

Zafar Gohar in for the final over before tea and there's a little controversy as Max Holden believes he has caught James Sales with the penultimate ball of the session.

But the umpire says the ball has bounced on its way into his mitts.

Comfortably Middlesex's session as they pick up four wickets for 90 runs.

Northants looked well set at 104-1 to bridge the first innings deficit wth minimal damage.

But two wickets for Danru Ferns and Zafar Gohar has left the visitors nursing just a 13-run lead with six wickets intact.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:43 BST 25 September

    Bamber b A Patel 21 (Warks 337-9 v Leics 125)

And there is the ninth wicket.

Ethan Bamber is bowled by a ball from Ajaz Patel that turned quite a way.

  16. Postpublished at 15:42 BST 25 September

    Warks 337-8 v Leics 125

No sign of Warwickshire pulling the plug on their first innings. With two first-innings wickets remaining, they want to keep extending that lead, which is now up to 212.

They're in the 102nd over, so Leicestershire have about eight overs to take one more wicket for a third bowling bonus point.

With Warwickshire now seemingly firmly on course for the title, there have been lots more thoughts from you about today's batting hero Sam Hain.....

Hain has been the rock in Warwickshire's batting line up this season, but with a strike-rate in the mid 40's it would seem unlikely that he will ever be picked for England. Works well for Warwickshire, but England have long moved on from the Barrington type player.

    Jay, Birmingham

Sam Hain totally deserves to be in the test squad for South Africa. Another excellent season for Warks. Has the temperament & technique to bat no.3.

    Stuart, Sutton Coldfield

Sam Hain, Mr Warwickshire gets a 100, gets us the extra batting points and pushes us towards the title. Keys to the Kingdom for Sam Hain.

    Prit, Harpenden

Sam Hain, going down as one of the best to never play Test cricket for England? Is it purely a case of right man, wrong time for his position?

  18. Yorkshire all out for 179 and tea. at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:35 BST 25 September

    Hill st Hay b Patterson-White 58 (Notts 251 v Yorks 179)

George Hill charges down the wicket to attack Liam Patterson-White and is comfortably stumped by Mitch Hay.

A brilliant knock from the in-form all-rounder comes to an end as Yorkshire cede a 72-run first innings deficit.

Not great for the visitors who were skittled in 53.1 overs, but it would have been a whole lot worse without Hill.

The Notts second innings will begin after tea.

  19. Tea at New Roadpublished at 15:32 BST 25 September

    Worcestershire 214 & 137-8 v Derbyshire 88

Despite the best efforts of Muhammad Abbas, Worcestershire are very much in the driving seat at New Road.

They go into tea with a 263-run lead, with Matthew Waite and Tom Taylor still together.

Abbas has 4-48 from 21 overs but with 28 wickets taken in the first five sessions of the game, it's going to need something special by Derbyshire in the fourth innings to win this game.

  20. Five-wicket haul for Olly Stonepublished at 15:28 BST 25 September

    Cliff c Patterson-White b Stone 6 (Notts 251 v Yorks 171-9)

Olly Stone celebrates a wicketImage source, Shutterstock

A fifth five-wicket haul of the season for Olly Stone!

The Notts quick gets one to lift and find the edge high on Ben Cliff's bat. It gives Liam Patterson-White a routine catch at first slip.

It's also a 50th Championship wicket of the season for Stone who could be pushing for an England recall if he can maintain his fitness.

Jack White is the last man in.
