  1. Game 'drifting' at Old Traffordpublished at 14:58 BST 25 September

    Lancashire v Durham 486-9

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I am not sure why Durham are still batting, the game just appears to be drifting at the moment, but Brydon Carse has at least reached 50.

    Comes in 114 balls, 3x6 and 1x4.

Obviously Durham will be looking to only have to bat the once, but the last time Lancashire scored anything upwards of 300 was back in April!

The conditions are a lot brighter now but we have had endless overs of spin from Lancashire, even with Durham nine down. Tom Bailey has been bowling a lot of those.

  2. Notts' title defence comes to an endpublished at 14:58 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 140-8

George Hill comes down the pitch to have a word with Ben Cliff after his batting partner drives at Brett Hutton and misses.

So he tries again next ball. And misses.

Bad news from Edgbaston as Warwickshire have a second batting point which ends Nottinghamshire's title defence.

The best Nottinghamshire can now do here is a 20-point victory which would take them to 208 and level with the Bears' current tally.

In the unlikely event that things stay that way and the leaders pick up no more points, they would still beat Notts on countback. Got that?

  3. Division One title - the latest permutationspublished at 14:57 BST 25 September

    So...

Warwickshire getting to 300 and a second batting bonus point means a draw in this match against Leicestershire will be enough to secure the title.

It also means that Nottinghamshire are out of the race - they can only draw level on points now with the Bears, and the tie-breaker that would count is the number of points gained in matches played between the two teams.

Both meetings were drawn but Warwickshire took more points from those two games than Notts.

So it's a straight fight between Warwickshire and Somerset for the title.

    And breathe...

  4. 50 runs

for Brydon Carsepublished at 14:56 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 486-9

It had to be that way, didn't it.

Tom Bailey's occasional off-spin is clobbered over Brydon Carse's favourite mid-wicket are and a six carries the England paceman to 50 off 114 balls.

Given Lancashire's season of struggle - this feels very like salt into wound.

van der Gugten lbw Cook 0 (Glamorgan 490-9 v Essex)

    Plum.

Sam Cook gets a second wicket in the over as ne hips one into the pads of Timm van der Gugten who is out for a two-ball duck.

Ray Toole is the last man in.

  6. 100 runs

100 for Sam Hainpublished at 14:52 BST 25 September

    Warks 300-7 v Leics 125

Brilliant batting from Sam Hain, who gets to three figures in a key match for his side.

Those two runs also seal a second batting bonus point, which has ramifications in the title race - which will be explained shortly...

Only four boundaries in Sam Hain’s century. That is some batting.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Tom Lammonbypublished at 14:52 BST 25 September

    Somerset 112-3 v Surrey 422

Tom Lammonby gets to 50 from 94 balls with seven fours.

He has found some decent late-season form.

  8. Essex fight back in Cardiffpublished at 14:50 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 490-8 v Essex

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It’s been Essex’s afternoon as they have managed to chip away at the Glamorgan innings following a patient marathon of 184 from Asa Tribe and a half-century for Billy Root in his final match - one of three retirees in a row in the batting order.

Root managed to push the rate along with a typically busy knock, his 59 off 88 balls including seven boundaries as he dominated the stand of 103 with Tribe.

But Essex managed to put the brakes on the scoring rate and then force breakthroughs as Root top-edged Simon Harmer to slip and Zaman Akhter had Tribe caught behind, the Jerseyman's marathon effort lasting 383 balls.

Mason Crane was caught behind off Akhter and Chris Cooke followed as Essex were able to give themselves a chance of bowling the hosts out rather than waiting for a declaration.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:50 BST 25 September

    Singh c Hammond b Ahmed 31 (Kent 282-6 v Glos)

Stand-in keeper Miles Hammond goes into a high-stepping routine in celebration after a brilliant catch brings Ekansh Singh's innings to an end at Canterbury.

Daz Ahmed finds the edge and Hammond dives full length to take it in his right glove. Great moment for him.

Kent lead by 53 as Matt Milnes replaces Singh.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 BST 25 September

    Cooke c Bell b Cook 20 (Glamorgan 490-8 v Essex)

A fourth wicket since lunch for Essex.

Sam Cook gets the edge of Chris Cooke and he is taken comfortably by George Bell.

Timm van der Gugten is in for Glamorgan.

  11. Postpublished at 14:48 BST 25 September

    Warks 292-7 v Leics 125

Sam Hain's eyes would have lit up when, on 97, Josh Hull served him up a full toss outside off stump.

Unfortunately, he picked out the fielder on the boundary and had to settle for a single.

Two more needed for a richly-deserved century.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:47 BST 25 September

Ghafari st Hurst b Ali 18 (Lancs v Durham 474-9)

Shaf Ghafari loses his balance as he stretches forward to try and stifle the spin from Noman Ali, but it beats the edge and Matty Hurst whips off the bails.

No declaration from Durham as last man Duanne Olivier strides out to the middle.

If my calculations are correct (& may not be). 300 runs for Warwickshire means Notts can only go level on points with a win. So 350 keeps them above Notts and with Somerset struggling, probably the title.

    Russ, Glossop

Assuming Notts bowl Yorkshire out for under 250, the maximum number of points they can take from the game is 20 - giving them a total of 208 for the season. Warwickshire have already taken four points from their game, putting them on 207. Double check that, though!

  14. 100 runs

100 up for Somersetpublished at 14:42 BST 25 September

    Somerset 103-3 v Surrey 422

An edge down to the deep third rope brings up three figures for Somerset.

We still have not seen Rahul Chahar in the Surrey attack.

He retired while batting earlier before returning at the fall of the ninth wicket despite feeling unwell and by all reports is too ill to bowl at the moment.

Nathan Barnwell is the sub fielder for Chahar.

    Miller lbw b Gohar 6 (Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 112-3)

Zafar Gohar celebrates a Northamptonshire wicket with a team-mateImage source, Shutterstock

    The hole deepens for Northamptonshire.

Spin does the trick again for Middlesex as Gus Miller tries to sweep a Zafar Gohar ball which straightens and thuds into his front pad. The spinner has two wickets.

After that 75-run opening partnership this morning, the visitors have lost three wickets for 37 this afternoon. They trail by 40.

  16. Postpublished at 14:38 BST 25 September

    Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 44-1

Sussex have pushed their lead to 160 runs against Hampshire.

There's very little resting on the outcome of this match, with Hampshire already down and Sussex out of the title picture.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:37 BST 25 September

    Coad c Haynes b Ali 5 (Notts 251 v Yorks 124-8)

    Yorkshire falling in a heap.

Jack Haynes makes amends as he takes a third catch of the innings to make up for the drop off Mohammad Ali's previous over.

Ali jags one back into Ben Coad who edges a simple chance straight to second slip.

The visitors are looking at a sizeable first innings deficit unless George Hill and Ben Cliff can put on a few here.

  18. 100 runs

for Ben Comptonpublished at 14:35 BST 25 September

    Kent 271-5 v Glos 229

Did you know that Ben Compton's middle name is Garnet?

This has been a jewel of an innings and he reaches his second Championship century of the season off 203 balls with a four to square leg off JT Langridge.

It's also the 20th first-class hundred of his career.

  19. Postpublished at 14:34 BST 25 September

    Kent 270-5 v Glos 229

Ekansh Singh has been chancing his arm against spinner Sai Kishore.

Nothing wrong with that one, though, as he drills a full length ball from paceman JT Langridge back past the stumps for four.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:34 BST 25 September

    Nicholls lbw Worrall 15 (Somerset 97-3 v Surrey 422)

    A big wicket.

Bowling around the wicket, Dan Worrall strikes the front pad of Henry Nicholls.

The appeal seems a little half-hearted but is met with the approval of the umpire.

Tom Abell is the next man in for Somerset.
