    Kent 318-7 v Glos 229

Wide half-volley from Matt Taylor, bowling with the new ball, and Ben Compton strokes it through the covers for four. He looks like a man who is enjoying his work.

Ideal situation is for Kent to end up with no more than 3 batting points, and chase 250 to win. Northants to set Middlesex around the same. Could be a fun weekend!

  2. 50 runs

50 for George Hillpublished at 15:27 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 171-8

George Hill scoops Olly Stone for an outrageous six as he continues to drag Yorkshire out of the mire.

He then runs the next ball down to third man for the single which takes him to a sixth fifty of the season.

It's come at a really good lick, too, off 46 balls, and is giving the visitors a sniff here.

  3. Postpublished at 15:26 BST 25 September

    Lancs 1-0 v Durham 493

Lancashire have been bowled out for under 200 in their last nine all-out Championship innings.

The task they are facing for the remaining two days and 30 odd overs is therefore a mammoth one.

Michael Jones gets the scoreboard moving with a single off Brydon Carse.

  4. Postpublished at 15:22 BST 25 September

    Kent 308-7 v Glos 229

Keith Dudgeon flips a ball from spinner Sai Kishore over square leg for four.

A shot not without risk if it had turned out of the foot marks. Fortunately, for the Dudge, it didn't.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Tom Hainespublished at 15:21 BST 25 September

    Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 101-2

Sussex opener Tom Haines gets to a half-century just before tea at Utilita Bowl.

The visitors have been scoring at just under four runs per over in their second innings as they look to press home their advantage against Hampshire

Their lead at tea is 217 runs.

  6. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 25 September

    Worcs 214 & 134-8 v Derbys 88

This is a vital partnership between Matthew Waite and Tom Taylor for Worcestershire.

They have added 30 in tandem since the dismissal of Henry Cullen and pushed the lead up to 260.

Waite is 33 not out and Taylor has 12.

    Vasconcelos lbw b Ferns 69 (Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 155-4)

    A big blow for Northamptonshire.

Danru Ferns swings one into the pads of Ricardo Vasconcelos as the opener plays across the line.

A little doubt whether it might have been missing, but it's given and his 178-ball vigil is done.

James Sales, who played well for 43 in the dismal first innings, joins Saif Zaib who has a brisk 33.

  8. Glamorgan all outpublished at 15:18 BST 25 September

    Douthwaite c Auld b Akhter 21 (Glamorgan 505 v Essex)

Five wickets for 83 runs after lunch is a good comeback from Essex but they are still facing a huge task to save this game already.

Asa Tribe's 184 was what the Glamorgan innings was built around and they will go on the attack with the ball now.

Tom Douthwaite chips one in the air to end the home side's innings and Zaman Akhter has a five-wicket haul (5-107).

The players will now also take tea.

  9. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:16 BST 25 September

    Warks 329-8 v Leics 125

Sam Hain raises his batImage source, Shutterstock

Warwickshire are on the brink of the Championship title, thanks to Sam Hain's fantastic unbeaten century.

Ed Barnard fell just short of his own hundred but a stand of 165 alongside Hain has put the Bears well in command.

They should go on to win this match, with a lead of 204 and counting, and they have the safety net of knowing a draw will be enough for them to be champions if it hoses down with rain for the next two days.

  10. Northamptonshire move into the leadpublished at 15:16 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 154-3

Danru Ferns oversteps and the no-ball sees Northants' 152-run deficit on first innings finally wiped out.

Can they now add enough runs to give their bowlers a sniff?

  11. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:13 BST 25 September

    Somerset 126-3 v Surrey 422

Tom Lammonby's unbeaten 61 has steadied Somerset with wickets falling at intervals at the other end.

The home side trail by 296 runs with the race for second place now seemingly the only thing up for grabs.

  12. Postpublished at 15:13 BST 25 September

    Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 90-2

Hampshire have taken a second Sussex wicket, Andrew Neal bowling Charlie Tear for 20, but the visitors have stretched their lead to 206.

Opener Tom Haines is 44 not out and has not been afraid to play some shots.

  13. Durham all outpublished at 15:13 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 493

Durham's first innings finally comes to an end as Duanne Olivier pulls a short ball from Mitch Stanley straight to Rocky Flintoff at mid-wicket.

Olivier goes for five, leaving Brydon Carse unbeaten on 58, made from 120 balls, and featuring three sixes over mid-wicket.

Noman Ali finishes with 6-166 from 48 overs and if there is any comfort for Lancashire, they'll be facing a Durham attack without Matthew Potts, Ben Raine or Ben Stokes - 132 Championship wickets between them this season - when it's their turn to bat.

  14. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:11 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 152-3

Ricardo Vasconcelos has been patient after lunch as he looks to anchor this rearguard action, but gets a life on 68.

He pulls Danru Ferns straight to Ben Geddes in the deep.

It looks a comfortable enough catch but out it pops as Geddes falls forward painfully, on his elbow.

  15. Second batting point for Kentpublished at 15:10 BST 25 September

    Kent 300-7 v Glos 229

Keith Dudgeon drives Daz Ahmed for four and that's another point closer to promotion for Kent.

If they could reach 400 inside 110 overs and avouid losing this game, it wouldn't matter what Northants do against Middlesex at Lord's.

    At least, we think so!

  16. 6 runs

500 up for Glamorganpublished at 15:08 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 503-9 v Surrey

The home side want to squeeze out every run they can.

There is no sense of this final pair giving away their wickets.

Dan Douthwaite flails a Zaman Akhter delivery over the rope for six to bring up the 500 - no risk with that shot as the ball was short and asked for it.

  17. 150 runs

150 up for Yorkshirepublished at 15:07 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 152-8

George Hill continues to impress in this brittle Yorkshire batting order as he launches Olly Stone - back for his third spell - for four.

It takes him to 34 and brings up 150 for Yorkshire with two wickets in hand.

Notts turn to spin for the first time as Liam Patterson-White is introduced.

  18. Postpublished at 15:04 BST 25 September

Sam Hain celebrates his centuryImage source, Shutterstock

It's been such a patient knock by Sam Hain, who has held the Warwickshire innings together.

He has struck only five boundaries in his 107 not out and is approaching 250 balls faced.

No wonder he celebrated his century so exuberantly - it's put the Bears on the brink of the Championship title.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:01 BST 25 September

    Milnes c sub b Ahmed 5 (Kent 288-7 v Glos 229)

It's a good job a full haul of batting bonus points might not be needed by Kent, because it doesn't look like they're going to get anywhere near 450.

Matt Milnes drives at a wide one from Daz Ahmed and sub fielder Ed Middleton takes a sharp catch safely in both hands at first slip.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:00 BST 25 September

    Suthar lbw b Hull 19 (Warks 308-8 v Leics 125)

Manav Suthar is stone dead lbw to Josh Hull, who has a third wicket of the innings, but Suthar's job is done - he's helped Warwickshire past the 300 mark.
