    Worcs 214 & 203-9 v Derbys 88

This is so frustrating for Derbyshire.

Last man Ben Gibbon drives tentatively at an away-swinger from Martin Andersson, gets a big inside edge and the ball runs away past the stumps for four.

The lead increases to 329 but the umpires aren't happy with the light and the players are going off.

  2. Postpublished at 16:53 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 & 35-3 v Yorks 179

Jack Haynes mistimes a drive through the offside but picks up a boundary to get off the mark and take the Nottinghamshire lead into three figures.

The bowlers have been on top all day, and wickets look likely to fall at any minute.

This game is in full-on fast-forward mode.

    Warks 372 v Leics 125 & 20-0

It's not often that Chris Woakes goes for three fours in an over but that's what's happened in his first over, with Sol Budinger racing to 13 not out.

Make that 17 not out off nine balls as he pulls Ethan Bamber away for another boundary.

    Phillips c Benjamin b Milnes 0 (Kent 353 & Glos 229 & 0-1)

    What a start!

Matt Milnes' opening delivery takes the shoulder of Joe Phillips' bat and Tawanda Muyeye takes an easy slip catch.

That is Milnes' 50th Championship wicket of an excellent season.

    Somerset 197-3 v Surrey 422

Tom Lammonby (94*) and Tom Abell (47*) continue along their merry way for Somerset.

Up comes the century stand and there would appear to be a lot more runs out there for this pair.

  6. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 16:50 BST 25 September

    Lancashire 10-0 v Durham 493

Having taken the players off for bad light, umpires Hassan Adnan and Sue Redfern decide there is no prospect of any further play, so that is your lot for day two at Old Trafford.

After a 45-minute delay first thing because of rain, Durham added 138 to their overnight 355-5, with Ollie Robinson and Brydon Carse both making 58.

Carse hit three sixes and ran out of partners when last man Duanne Olivier was caught at mid-wicket, with Noman Ali taking 6-166 for the Red Rose.

Typical - just when we have Durham on the ropes...

    Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 170-3

Sussex opener Tom Haines has made his highest Championship score of the season in his final innings of the campaign.

He's on 77 not out and Sussex's lead is nearing 300.

Westley lbw ul Hassan 23 (Glamorgan 505 v Essex 41-4)

    Big trouble for Essex now.

Zain ul Hassan again bowls full and pins Tom Westley in front of all three.

All-rounder Noah Thain joins Matt Critchley in the middle.

We still have 18 overs remaining in the day.

  9. Postpublished at 16:44 BST 25 September

    Somerset 194-3 v Surrey 422

Nothing is happening for the Surrey bowlers and as is often the way they think it is the fault of the ball.

They show it to the umpires and there is some damage apparently and they can have a change.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:43 BST 25 September

    Clarke c Bairstow b Hill 8 (Notts 251 & 24-3 v Yorks 179)

A third wicket for Yorkshire and a third catch for Jonny Bairstow.

George Hill into the attack after hitting fifty with the bat and strikes with just his fifth ball.

Hill gets the ball to nip back and catches the inside edge high up on the bat of Joe Clarke.

Bairstow takes a fine two-handed catch switching direction to his left.

A poor game for Clarke but he ends a brilliant season with 1,288 Championship runs.

  11. Warwickshire close in on titlepublished at 16:43 BST 25 September

    Warwickshire 372 v Leicestershire 125 & 1-0

That is a quite magnificent knock from Sam Hain, and an innings that has probably won Warwickshire the title.

A draw will do it now - but I think we all know they're probably going to win.

He had scored four fours when he reached three figures - picking it up to 11 by the time of his dismissal. He got most of his runs between long leg and midwicket, flicking and driving through the on side.

It was an innings of sheer guts and determination. He was helped out by significant contributions from the tail, including a stoic seven not out from last man Olly Hannon-Dalby.

Leicestershire's first task is to avoid an innings defeat, but a mammoth 247-run deficit is surely too hard for them to level, never mind post a competitive chase.

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 40-3

    Glamorgan are smelling Essex blood.

Tom Westley drives airily at a Timm van der Gugten delivery and immediately chastises himself.

The next one turns around the Essex skipper who somehow gets four runs from a leading edge through cover when he was aiming on the leg side.

  13. Kent all outpublished at 16:42 BST 25 September

    Kent 353 v Gloucestershire 229

Kent's first innings comes to an end at the St Lawrence Ground as Khaled Ahmed is lbw to Che Simmons for a duck.

Keith Dudgeon is left on 31 not out, having hit five fours to help extend Kent's first-innings lead to 124.

With six bonus points from the game, a draw would take their total to 206 - which means Northants could still pip them for promotion if they were to conjure a win over Middlesex.

The onus is now on Kent's bowlers, therefore, to press home their advantage.

  14. Leics start second inningspublished at 16:41 BST 25 September

    Warks 372 v Leics 125 & 0-0

A big cheer from the home supporters as Warwickshire head out into the field for Leicestershire's second innings.

They have a 247-run lead and are in complete command of this match. Ten wickets are required for them to be county champions.

It's particularly gloomy at the moment, so how many overs we'll get in the rest of the day's play is up for debate.

Ethan Bamber appeals for a catch behind off the first ball but it's not out.

    Worcs 214 & 189-9 v Derbys 88

Another six for Matthew Waite - this one a short-armed pull over square leg off Nick Potts. The Worcestershire all-rounder is now 71 not out and the lead is 315.

  16. Postpublished at 16:38 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 36-3

Hearts in mouths for Essex as Matt Critchley is hit on the pads.

Zain ul Hassan is continuing his follow through with a cele-appeal.

He is stopped in his tracks by a shake of the head from the umpire.

    Critchley survives for now.

  17. Postpublished at 16:35 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 & 23-2 v Yorks 179

Lovely shot from Ben Martindale who turns Ben Coad through the legside for his first boundary.

Not so lovely as a streaky inside edge brings him two more and takes the 23-year-old into double figures.

The Nottinghamshire lead stands at 95.

  18. Third batting point for Kentpublished at 16:35 BST 25 September

    Kent 351-9 v Glos 229

Keith Dudgeon lofts a ball from Matt Taylor back over the bowler's head and down the ground for four as Kent's total moves past 350.

That may be it in terms of batting bonus points, but they are 122 ahead and well on top in the game.

    Allison b ul Hassan 15 (Glamorgan 505 v Essex 36-3)

What were we saying? Scrap it.

Zain ul Hassan nips one back through the defences of Charlie Allison and he is bowled.

Matt Critchley is in at number five for Essex whose recent batting frailties are under the microscope now.

  20. Postpublished at 16:32 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 36-2

With the sun out in Cardiff the brakes seem to have come off the Essex batting.

A lovely straight drive from Tom Westley to the boundary is followed by two more strokes to the rope off Timm van der Gugten who is into his ninth over of this opening spell now.
