Sam Hain is the final man out in Warwickshire's first innings for a magnificent 142, which has probably secured the County Championship title for his side.

He gets some handshakes from the Leicestershire fielders as he leaves the field, along with a great ovation from all inside Edgbaston.

Warwickshire's first-innings lead is 247 and they'll set about another bowling effort shortly - providing the light holds.

    Quinn c Boorman b Simmons 12 (Kent 347-9 v Glos)

Still three runs short of a third batting point, Kent lose their ninth wicket as Che Simmons claims his first since joining Gloucestershire.

Matt Quinn tries to flick a full-length ball to leg and a leading edge presents Tommy Boorman with a catch at cover.

    Worcs 214 & 171-9 v Derbys 88

Nick Potts fires one down and Matthew Waite unceremoniously hammers it back over his head for a maximum. Great shot.

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 180-5

Celebrations are muted with his side in deep trouble, but Saif Zaib raises his bat for a sixth half-century of the season.

A nudge into the legside brings the single which takes him to the landmark off just 60 balls.

He'll need plenty more - and support at the other end - if Northants are to play their way back into this one.

Tell the umpires to hold on. On my way to Edgbaston now to give Hain his deserved standing ovation!

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 22-2

Tom Westley edges just wide of a diving third slip and collects a couple of nervy Essex runs.

He lets the next one go just outside off stump.

Concentration is the key word for the Essex batters.

A couple of Charlie Allison boundaries releases the pressure a little.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:23 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 & 11-2 v Yorks 179

Joe Clarke steps down the wicket and falls into the trap, flicking Ben Coad straight to leg slip.

Dom Bess gets two hands to it, but somehow spills the chance.

The Championship's leading run scorer this season gets a life on one.

How expensive will that prove to be?

  8. Bad light stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 16:22 BST 25 September

    Lancs 10-0 v Durham 493

Just nine overs into Lancashire's first innings, the players are back in the dressing room.

It's unlikely the home side will mind that after being given the runaround in the field for the best part of five sessions by Durham.

There are still another 26 overs scheduled in the day's play.

  9. Postpublished at 16:21 BST 25 September

    Somerset 174-3 v Surrey 422

Dan Worrall drops one short outside Tom Abell's off stump and it is guided away to the backward-point rope for four runs.

It all looks very comfortable for Abell (41*) and Tom Lammonby (77*).

  10. Postpublished at 16:20 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 505 v Essex 10-2

Timm van der Gugten rattles one into the pads of Tom Westley and there is a huge appeal for lbw.

A shake of the head from the umpire brings a sigh of relief to the Essex camp.

It looked a bit legside in fairness but the pressure remains firmly on the visitors.

    Carter b Neal 40 (Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244 & 144-3)

Oli Carter attempts to sweep but is bowled by Andrew Neal for 40 off 45 balls.

Carter's partnership with Tom Haines ends on 64.

  12. wicket

    Sales c Robson b Gohar 8 (Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 169-5)

Middlesex turn the screw as Zafar Gohar picks up a third wicket of the day.

James Sales flashes hard outside off stump and the edge flies to Sam Robson at second slip who does well to hold on with a second grab.

Calvin Harrison joins Saif Zaib with Northants in a real battle to avoid a fourth defeat of the season.

  13. 50 runs

for Matthew Waitepublished at 16:16 BST 25 September

    Worcs 214 & 163-9 v Derbys 88

Matthew Waite reaches his seventh 50 of the season off 97 balls with a single off Muhammad Abbas - and this one may feel it's worth a lot more.

Worcestershire are now 289 ahead, which given what has happened in this match would be a 'challenging target', shall we say, for Derbyshire.

  14. Postpublished at 16:15 BST 25 September

    Warks 365-9 v Leics 125

The umpires take a light reading at Edgbaston but are happy to continue for the moment.

There was an interruption before lunch today because of bad light.

There are still 33 overs possible today.

    Hameed c Bairstow b White 4 (Notts 251 & 9-2 v Yorks 179)

Yorkshire are roaring their way back into this.

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed pushes forward in defence but a thin edge off Jack White finds the gloves of Jonny Bairstow for a second catch.

The Notts lead is 81 as Joe Clarke joins Ben Martindale on a pair.

  16. Evening session begins at Lord'spublished at 16:13 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 167-4

Another important session for Northants gets under way as James Sales and Saif Zaib (36) resume. Their lead is a highly precarious 13.

Tom Helm opens up the bowling for Middlesex.

  17. Postpublished at 16:12 BST 25 September

    Kent 337-8 v Glos 229

Back out in the middle at Canterbury and Matt Quinn inside edges a ball from JT Langridge past the keeper for four runs.

The final ball induces an outside edge but it doesn't carry to first slip who is unable to prevent it running away for another boundary.

JT is unimpressed, to put it mildly.

Sam Hain batting for WarwickshireImage source, Shutterstock

Leicestershire are employing the "put everyone back on the fence" tactic against Sam Hain at the moment.

The Warwickshire man takes a single of the fourth ball of Ajaz Patel's latest over and he now has 135 not out.

Hain has played a few more aggressive shots since the ninth wicket fell, but before then it was all about accumulating runs and taking few risks - and he did it perfectly.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:09 BST 25 September

    Taylor run out 18 (Worcs 214 & 155-9 v Derbys 88)

Matthew Waite pushes a single to bring up a 50 partnership with Tom Taylor.

But a repeat brings about his partner's dismissal as Taylor is beaten by Yousaf Bin Naeem's direct hit from point.

Ben Gibbon is Worcestershire last man in this innings - which began with two nightwatchers sent out last evening.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:09 BST 25 September

    Slater c Bairstow b Coad 2 (Notts 251 & 3-1 v Yorks 179)

The wickets continue to tumble at Trent Bridge.

Ben Coad, with a nagging line outside off stump, gets one to move away a touch late and catches the edge as Ben Slater pushes forward in defence.

Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow shows cracking reflexes to pouch the chance low to his left.

Good start for the White Rose.
