  3. Somerset hopes 'just about alive'published at 12:43 BST 25 September

    Somerset 1-0 v Surrey 422 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset have just about kept their County Championship title hopes alive by taking the last six Surrey wickets for 95 in the morning session.

Ben Foakes looked to be unlucky with an lbw decision to only his second ball of the day, but after that the wickets fell at regular intervals, the most significant being that of Dan Lawrence, well caught by James Rew chasing a wide one from Lewis Gregory for a magnificent 139.

Jack Leach mopped up the Surrey tail to finish with 4-91, leaving Josh Thomas and Tom Lammonby to get through three overs before lunch unscathed.

  4. Glamorgan in 'commanding position'published at 12:41 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 422-4 v Essex

    Cennydd Davies
    BBC Radio Wales commentator

Glamorgan went at a cautious pace on the second morning without going through the gears to reach 422-4 at lunch.

While Essex were economical, their only reward was the wicket of Colin Ingram who was caught out in the deep for 42 .

Asa Tribe is still there, unbeaten on 172 - the second match in succession the England Lions player has scored 150 and above - with Billy Root, who alongside Ingram and Chris Cooke will be retiring after the game, on 43.

Glamorgan are in a commanding position.

  5. Postpublished at 12:37 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 412-7

George Balderson finds the edge but there are no slips and Brydon Carse adds four runs to his score.

We have a delayed lunch at Old Trafford following the 45-minute delay at the start of play following rain.

  6. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 12:36 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 75-0

So far so good for Northamptonshire as calm returns to Lord's after a hectic first day of 20 wickets.

Openers Ricardo Vasconcelos (46) and Luke Procter (27) have survived some testing bowling this morning.

Toby Roland-Jones can count himself unlucky not to pick up a wicket or two, while Zafar Gohar has found plenty of spin bowling down the slope.

But Northants go to lunch unscathed having chipped the first innings deficit down to 77.

The visitors' rebuild still has some way to go, but it's a vast improvement on day one.

  7. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:35 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 67-3

James Wharton drives Ben Martindale handsomely through the leg side to pick up four more.

A recovery of sorts from Wharton (17) and Matt Revis (11) who have put on 34 after Yorkshire had slid to 33-3.

The visitors had earlier wrapped up the Notts first knock for 251.

Olly Stone has looked a real handful with 2-12, and you suspect there's more to come from him after the lunchtime protein shakes.

  8. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:34 BST 25 September

    Kent 186-3 v Gloucestershire 229

A let-off for Daniel Bell-Drummond in the penultimate over before lunch at Canterbury as he tries to drive a ball from Sai Kishore and is dropped at second slip.

Kent lost Sam Northeast to JT Langridge's first ball of the day and the Gloucestershire left-armer also sent back Tawanda Muyeye with the total on 97.

Ben Compton, though, has batted through the morning to reach 76 not out, adding 89 with Bell-Drummond, who has 44.

Kent have been made to work hard by the visitors, but still hold the aces in the battle with Northamptonshire for the second promotion place.

  9. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 12:34 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 422-4 v Essex

    Asa TribeImage source, Shutterstock

Asa Tribe continues along his merry way as he has moved on from his overnight 135 to go to lunch unbeaten on 172.

Colin Ingram was the only wicket to fall this morning as he top edged Zaman Akhter to Dean Elgar in the deep for 42 in what could be his final innings for Glamorgan.

Another forthcoming retiree, Billy Root has played nicely for his 43.

Essex have looked a tired and listless outfit on occasion this morning.

  10. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:33 BST 25 September

    Somerset 1-0 v Surrey 422

A good comeback for Somerset as they removed the final six Surrey wickets for 95 runs this morning.

Dan Lawrence made an excellent 139 while Jack Leach finished with 4-91.

Three bonus points for Somerset in what looks likely to be a chase from second place rather than the title.

  11. wicket

WICKET and lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 12:32 BST 25 September

    Neal lbw b Coles 4 (Hampshire 117-8 v Sussex 244)

Hampshire have added 62 more runs to their overnight score for the loss of four wickets on the second morning against Sussex.

Sussex rushed to try to get another over in before the lunch interval and it's worked, with James Coles getting Andrew Neal out lbw.

Ben Brown is unbeaten on 34 and if Hampshire are going to get anywhere close to Sussex's first-innings total of 244, much will rest on their skipper.

  12. Postpublished at 12:27 BST 25 September

    Somerset 0-0 v Surrey 422

Dan Lawrence starts with a maiden for Surrey and gets some turn as well.

Dan Worrall opens the bowling at the opposite end and is immediately right on the mark.

  13. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 12:24 BST 25 September

    Worcestershire 214 & 50-3 v Derbyshire 88

Having gone off for bad light a few minutes ago, the umpires decide the players should take lunch at New Road.

Worcestershire have added 45 to their total during the truncated session and now lead Derbyshire by 176 runs, which in the overall context of the match so far is a very healthy lead.

Nightwatchers Fateh Singh and Ben Allison departed in successive overs, followed by Jake Libby, who became Muhammad Abbas' second victim of the morning - and he now has seven in the game.

Dan Lategan is 11 not out and Rehaan Edavalath has 10.

  14. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 25 September

    Somerset 0-0 v Surrey 422

Josh Thomas and Tom Lammonby head out to the middle to start the Somerset reply.

Dan Lawrence takes the new ball for Surrey with his spin variation.

An 'interesting' choice to say the least from visiting skipper Rory Burns.

  15. 50 runs

50 up for Yorkshirepublished at 12:21 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 54-3

James Wharton is quickly into his stride and takes two boundaries off Mohammad Ali's fifth over.

A costly six balls also includes four leg byes as Ali's line strays and Yorkshire's fifty comes up after 18 overs. But at some cost.

  16. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:21 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 407-7

It was coming......a little agricultural in method, but Brydon Carse clobbers Noman Ali over mid-wicket for six. Only the second maximum of the Durham innings.

Yorkshire’s top order - oh dear me! Another failure. Will George and Dom have to dig us out of another hole?

    Ian, Sidmouth

Olly Stone must be under consideration for an England call-up for the South Africa squad. He's been in really good form and his fitness seems to be standing up. Should be in the squad at least as cover for Archer, if not in his own right. No brainer.

    Jay, Birmingham

  18. Postpublished at 12:18 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 66-0

Plenty of early encouragement for Middlesex spinner Zafar Gohar here.

Luke Procter almost falls as he turns a ball to Ben Geddes who can't hold on to a sharp chance at short leg.

Gohar then beats Ricardo Vasconcelos' forward defensive prod with a ball that turns sharply into the front pad. Not out.

  19. 50 runs

    50 partnership & 400 up for Glamorganpublished at 12:16 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 400-4 v Essex

Asa Tribe clatters away Matt Critchley for another boundary.

It brings up the Glamorgan 400 and a 50 partnership with Billy Root.

The Essex skipper Tom Westley brings himself on for a rare go with his very occasional off-spin.

  20. Postpublished at 12:14 BST 25 September

    Kent 176-3 v Glos 229

Sai Kishore to bowl his first over of the day for Gloucestershire.

The visitors need a bit of inspiration from the Indian, who has made a good impression since joining the club.

After three dot balls, he gives Ben Compton a bit of room outside off stump and he chops it down to third man for a couple.
