Danru Ferns drops short and it's pulled through the gap for four to bring up fifty for Ricardo Vasconcelos

The Northants opener is in a rich vein of form, having reached a half-century in three of his last four innings.

A 26th first-class fifty in all for the 28-year-old and a seventh of a profitable season.

    Much-needed runs for Northants.

    Hose lbw Abbas 9 (Worcs 214 & 82-6 v Derbys 88)

Miss it against Mo Abbas and you are gone.

The Pakistan seamer wins his third lbw decision of the day as Adam Hose's brief innings comes to an end.

The Worcestershire lead of 209 looks a big one, though, given what has gone on over the past four and a bit sessions.

Leicestershire need to make inroads and quickly, as Sam Hain and Ed Barnard are taking this game away from them.

They have just brought up their 150 partnership and Warwickshire's lead is up to 114 with plenty of batting in hand.

The new ball is due on 80 overs and the Foxes take it straight away.

  4. wicket

    Wharton c Haynes b Stone 28 (Notts 251 v Yorks 90-4)

Olly Stone does the trick again.

He breaks a dangerous partnership with a ball which moves back into James Wharton who edges to second slip.

It comes quickly to Jack Haynes who swoops to his right to pouch a two-handed catch low down. Lovely work and Stone has a third wicket.

It's time for a bit of Jonny Bairstow.

    Somerset 39-1 v Surrey 422

Tom Kohler-Cadmore launches Dan Lawrence over the long-off rope for the first six of the Somerset innings.

He is not the sort of man to be pinned down.

    Bell-Drummond c Phillips b Kishore 55 (Kent 209-4 v Glos 229)

Daniel Bell-Drummond is down the track to try and clear mid-wicket, but he doesn't get the necessary elevation and Joe Phillips takes an excellent catch.

A first wicket for Sai Kishore - who had DBD dropped earlier in his innings - brings an end to a stand of 112 with Ben Comtpon, who is 88 not out.

Chris Benjamin is the new batter.

  7. Postpublished at 13:37 BST 25 September

    Worcs 214 & 82-5 v Derbys 88

Brett D'Oliveira cover drives an overpitched ball from Martin Andersson for four and two balls later despatches a short one with a square cut.

The Worcestershire lead is now over 200.

  8. 450 up for Glamorganpublished at 13:37 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan v Essex

The home side continue to grind out the runs.

Up comes the 450 with not even a sniff of a wicket for Essex.

It is also the 100 partnership between Asa Tribe and Billy Root.

  9. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 13:34 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 88-3

A rare loose ball from Olly Stone as he overpitches, allowing Matt Revis to drive through long on for four.

The stroke brings up the fifty partnership with James Wharton which has come at a decent lick - 72 runs.

  10. Postpublished at 13:32 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 81-1

Toby Roland-Jones is proving as tough to get away in his second spell as he was this morning.

He gets some prodigious late movement as Ricardo Vasconcelos shoulders arms and watches it angle back in perilously close to his off stump.

A fifth maiden in nine overs for the 38-year-old.

  11. wicket

Hampshire all out for 128published at 13:32 BST 25 September

    Abbott b Unadkat 0 (Hampshire 128 v Sussex 244)

Jaydev Unadkat does eventually get that fifth wicket as Sussex bowl out Hampshire for 128 and a first-innings lead of 116.

Kyle Abbott steps across his stumps with left-armer Unadkat coming around the wicket, and leaves his leg stump open - it ends up cartwheeling away behind him.

Unadkat ends with 5-32 and Sussex are well in control of this Division One match.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:30 BST 25 September

    Thomas lbw Lawrence 17 (Somerset 31-1 v Surrey 422)

    The experiment works.

Dan Lawrence gets one to turn and Josh Thomas plays down the wrong line.

  13. 50 runs

for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 13:29 BST 25 September

    Kent 203-3 v Glos 229

A fraction short from Sai Kishore and Daniel Bell-Drummond pulls it for four to reach 50 off 80 balls.

The Glos fielders go up later in the over for a bat-pad catch but the umpire says there was no inside edge.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:28 BST 25 September

    Fuller c Clark b Unadkat 7 (Hampshire 128-9 v Sussex 244)

    WHAT A CATCH!

Tom Clark takes an absolute blinder at second slip to remove James Fuller.

The ball flies off Fuller's outside edge and Clark dives one-handed to his left to pouch it. Incredible catch.

Jaydev Unadkat has 4-32 and is chasing a five-wicket haul... and almost gets it next ball but his lbw shout against Kyle Abbott is turned down.

  15. 100 partnership for Kentpublished at 13:28 BST 25 September

    Kent 199-3 v Glos 229

Matt Taylor steams in and Ben Compton uppercuts a short one for four to bring up a century stand with Daniel Bell-Drummond.

A very un-Compton-like shot, that one. He moves to 86 not out.

  16. Postpublished at 13:27 BST 25 September

    Warks 218-4 v Leics 125

Ed Barnard hits Ajaz Patel away for another boundary and gets to 71 not out, matching the score of his batting partner Sam Hain - who has faced 60-odd balls more.

Hain responds by cracking part-time spinner Rishi Patel to the midwicket fence.

These two are doing an excellent job for Warwickshire.

Sai Kishore is continuing his spell after lunch at Canterbury.

He has a slip, leg slip and short leg in place for Ben Compton, who is now 82 not out.

It's a maiden from the Indian spinner.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Billy Rootpublished at 13:23 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 443-4 v Essex

In his final game for Glamorgan before retirement, Billy Root moves to 51 not out.

Glamorgan look as though the plan is to bat once and bat big.

Simon Harmer bowls a long hop outside off stump and Root adds four more with a cut to the cover rope.

  19. Postpublished at 13:23 BST 25 September

    Somerset 19-0 v Surrey 422

Tom Lammonby takes Dan Lawrence for successive boundaries.

You wonder how long Surrey will persevere with this experiment before going to one of their frontline bowlers.

I have voted in your team of the year poll. After more than 20 years with 2 divisions, I believe only truly exceptional performance by a Div 2 player would make them eligible therefore all my votes have gone to Div 1 players. Do others agree with me?

Chris, Bears fan exiled in Hampshire

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the team of the season, Chris, there's no hard and fast rule. Division Two players do, though, work just as hard as those in the top flight over the course of a season.
