    Notts 251 v Yorks 80-3

The sun is showing itself at Trent Bridge and batting looks a touch easier after the interval.

James Wharton cuts Ben Martindale for his fourth boundary as the Yorkshire number four continues to show intent.

Wharton then survives a shy at the stumps as he races back for a tight second run.

An expensive over from Martindale costs 12 as Matt Revis strokes through the offside to bring four more.

    Warks 200-4 v Leics 125

Leicestershire seamer Tom Scriven has found some movement with the old ball since lunch but a breakthrough today still eludes the visitors.

Sam Hain and Ed Barnard are more than content to take the singles when on offer, although when Scriven veers off line, Barnard crashes a short-of-a-length ball to the cover boundary for four.

    Somerset 11-0 v Surrey 422

Josh Thomas flashes a Dan Worrall delivery through point for a first boundary of the Somerset innings.

That is followed two balls later by a second four, this time edged along the ground past second slip.

  4. Postpublished at 13:18 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 432-4 v Essex

Asa Tribe moves to 180 not out for Glamorgan with a boundary off Simon Harmer.

Tribe's first class top score is 206.

  5. Postpublished at 13:16 BST 25 September

    Somerset 1-0 v Surrey 422

Dan Lawrence continues with his spin after lunch for Surrey and finds some turn immediately.

This could be a real test for Somerset in this session.

    Edavalath c Guest b Potts 16 (Worcs 214 & 59-5 v Derbys 88)

When wickets come in this match, they certainly do come in a rush.

Two in successive overs for Nick Potts as he removes Rehaan Edavalath with an excellent leg-cutter which takes a thin edge.

Keeper Brooke Guest does the rest.

The sun is out again at Edgbaston.

I don't think any of the day's overs were lost in that earlier interruption for bad light, helped by the players taking an early lunch, so we're likely to have a later finish in Birmingham today as long as the weather holds.

Warwickshire's lead has ticked up to 69 runs.

  8. wicket

    Procter lbw b Ferns 27 (Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 75-1)

Middlesex break through with the second ball after lunch.

Having strived for the opening wicket without joy all morning, Danru Ferns traps Nothants skipper Luke Procter high on his back pad with a ball which angles back in.

The finger goes up immediately and Procter readily accepts his fate.

The lunchtime pep talk does the trick for the Middlesex attack and Lewis McManus joins Ricardo Vasconcelos.

  9. wicket

    Lategan c Guest b Potts 11 (Worcs 214 & 52-4 v Derbys 88)

The light has improved at New Road - indeed there are now shadows on the ground.

Nick Potts makes an early breakthrough in the afternoon session as Dan Lategan is caught behind trying to leg glance.

    Worcestershire lead by 178.

    Warks 190-4 v Leics 125

As if to emphasise Dermot Reeve's point in the previous post, Sam Hain prods forward with a defensive shot off Ajaz Patel and an edge doesn't quite carry to the fielder at slip.

Hain and Barnard are having to be watchful against Ajaz Patel because he is finding some spin on this surface.

  12. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:07 BST 25 September

    Lancashire v Durham 435-8

A belated lunch arrives at Old Trafford with Durham in a position of total control.

They have added 80 runs in 28 overs to their overnight 355-5 for the loss of three wickets, all taken by Noman Ali.

Brydon Carse is 24 not out, with Shafiqullah Ghafari on two.

It's going to be a very long road for Lancashire to travel if they are to avoid defeat in this one.

Warwickshire could have easily wobbled at 86-4 towards the end of day one, but Sam Hain and Ed Barnard - two very experienced campaigners - saw them through safely to the close last night and they have continued their progress today without much alarm.

  15. Essex attack 'decimated by injuries'published at 12:58 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 422-4 v Essex - lunch

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex sports editor

It’s been another session of toil with the ball for Essex.

This is a bowling attack that has been decimated by injuries, including the absence of the ever reliable Shane Snater and Jamie Porter, and has left captain Tom Westley with limited options.

Although wickets have been hard to come by, just that of Colin Ingram to have fallen so far on day two, the spin of Simon Harmer and Matt Critchley has helped to control the scoring rate.

Glamorgan have been able to add 104 to their overnight score, without having to take many risks at all.

  16. Postpublished at 12:56 BST 25 September

    Warks 185-4 v Leics 125

The final ball of Ajaz Patel's over lands on the line of off stump and turns so much that it goes into the hands of the fielder at slip.

    One run off the over.

Leicestershire have 14 more overs until the new ball is available.

Another lbw decision goes in Noman Ali's favour and persevering Lancashire spinner has his five-for.

Callum Parkinson is the man to go, the third successive Durham batter to depart in similar fashion.

Shafiquallah Ghafari comes out at number 10.

Yet another shed load of extras conceded by Lancs. Durham should declare now and enjoy a free weekend. Can't see Lancs lasting long on a turning wicket.

Three singles for Warwickshire in the first over bowled by Tom Scriven after the resumption.

Sam Hain has 62 and Ed Barnard is on 54. Their partnership is worth 98.

  19. Back under way at Edgbastonpublished at 12:50 BST 25 September

    Warks 181-4 v Leics 125

After an interruption of just over an hour, plus an early lunch taken, Division One leaders Warwickshire have resumed their first innings against Leicestershire.

  20. Postpublished at 12:49 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 424-7

This now looks to be a case of grinding Lancashire 'into the dust' at Old Trafford. How many does Alex Lees want before contemplating a declaration?

Spinner Noman Ali continues to wheel away for Lancashire. He starts his 36th over of the innings and needs one more wicket for a five-for, which would be his 37th in first-class cricket.
