They've been off for almost 40 minutes now at Edgbaston and with little to no improvement in the conditions, the teams will take an early lunch.

Play will resume at 12:50 BST if the light improves sufficiently by then.

  2. Surrey all outpublished at 12:13 BST 25 September

    Chahar b Leach 3 (Somerset v Surrey 422)

    That is a jaffa.

Jack Leach gets one to straighten and clips Rahul Chahar's off stump to collect his fourth wicket of the innings (4-91).

A decent effort from Somerset as they take six Surrey wickets this morning for 95 runs.

    Mayes lbw b Coles 18 (Hampshire 103-7 v Sussex 244)

James Coles is the man to break the partnership of 39 between Ben Brown and Ben Mayes, trapping the latter lbw.

Mayes tried to turn what seemed to be a slightly quicker ball into the leg side but missed it.

  4. 400 up for Durhampublished at 12:10 BST 25 September

    Lancs v Durham 400-7

Fourth batting point for Durham with one over to spare - not that it really matters as they have already been confirmed as Division Two champions.

Brydon Carse tries to swish Noman Ali over mid-wicket but an outside edge to third man brings him a single, which is enough to take the total up to 400.

  5. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 12:09 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 58-0

Ricardo Vasconcelos pulls down the leg side for four to bring up the 50-run opening stand for Northamptonshire

After coming through a testing new-ball spell, it's been a much better effort so far today from Darren Lehmann's side.

Middlesex turn to spin with the ball just 22 overs old as Zafar Gohar is thrown the ball.

  6. 100 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 12:08 BST 25 September

    Hampshire 103-6 v Sussex 244

The unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 39 between Ben Brown and Ben Mayes is the highest of Hampshire's innings so far.

The hosts still trail by 141 runs.

    Topley c Overton b Leach 7 (Somerset v Surrey 420-9)

After his first six, Reece Topley tries to repeat the feat but can't.

He edges to Craig Overton off Jack Leach.

WICKETpublished at 12:07 BST 25 September

Aldridge lbw Ali 24 (Lancs v Durham 398-7)

Two in three overs for Noman Ali - both leg-before.

Kasey Aldridge goes the same way as Ollie Robinson - in his case, pinned on the back foot - with Durham still two runs short of a fourth batting point.

    Spinner Ali now has 4-115.

Postpublished at 12:06 BST 25 September

    Somerset v Surrey 420-8

Reece Topley joins the hitting fun for Surrey.

He hits Jack Leach for six - that is his first maximum in first class cricket.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:05 BST 25 September

    Whiteman c Haynes b Hutton 2 (Notts 251 v Yorks 33-3)

A first bowling point for Notts inside 15 overs.

The change in bowling works as Brett Hutton comes back for his second spell, replacing Olly Stone.

Sam Whiteman's unhappy end to the season continues as he edges Hutton to Jack Haynes at secnd slip who dives to his right to take the catch.

All three wickets have come from the Radcliffe Road End this morning.

Matthew Revis is next to try his luck.

Is Asa Tribe's late form getting him a seat on the plane to South Africa as a spare opener?

    Gareth, Swindon

We asked during the last round of games whether there is any place in England's thinking for a 'watchful' style of batting...now Stephen Fleming is in charge, we'd assume Tribe has a better chance of being picked.

  16. Middlesex announce Duke dealpublished at 11:58 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 46-0

Middlesex have so far been frustrated this morning as Northamptonshire openers move towards the fifty partnership after some testing new ball bowling.

But there has been some good news this morning for wicketkeeper Harry Duke who has agreed a permanent move to the Seaxes from Yorkshire.

He's been in superb form during his loan spell, with a century against Durham, not to mention a half-century in the One-Day Cup final win on Sunday.

More details on his signing here.

Warks 181-4 v Leics 125 - bad light stopped play

Sam Hain and Ed Barnard walk off the fieldImage source, Getty Images

This was the scene at Edgbaston about 15 minutes ago when Warwickshire and Leicestershire left the field because of bad light.

Well, the light hasn't got much better, the floodlights are glistening brightly and the pitch is covered.

We'll keep you up to date when we hear any news about a possible resumption.

  18. Postpublished at 11:54 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 369-4 v Essex

Billy Root cuts away a Simon Harmer delivery for a boundary.

Essex's South African spinner has been turning the ball but it is slow turn.

We will have spin from both ends now as Matt Critchley comes on to bowl some leggies.

Robinson lbw Ali 58 (Lancs v Durham 393-6)

Noman Ali finds a bit of turn to beat Ollie Robinson's forward defensive and he is adjudged leg-before. That's Alli's third of the innings.

Durham need seven runs from 32 balls to claim a fourth batting point as Brydon Carse comes out to bat.

Good job the Lancs v Durham game was delayed. Haven't missed anything after my pool aerobics this morning. Hopefully a big total to come.

  20. Bad light stops play at Worcesterpublished at 11:51 BST 25 September

    Worcs 214 & 50-3 v Derbys 88

Rehaan Edavalath turns a ball from Nick Potts off his hip for one as the Worcestershire total reaches 50.

It's a bit murky overhead, though, and the umpires decide a return to the dressing room is appropriate.
