The funny thing is Jos Buttler started walking when it hit him.

He thought he was out as soon as it hit him.

He didn't have much going for him. That's why the review system is there.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.3 overs

    Buttler lbw b Colombage 31 (Eng 196-5)

    All reds!

Jos Buttler is on his way, he was struck in front by a ball that straightened significantly.

This is quite the international debut for Sachindu Colombage - he's picked up the wickets of Joe Root and now Buttler.

  3. Sri Lanka reviewpublished at 15:21 BST 22 September

    Another wicket for Sachindu Colombage?

He goes up in style after hitting Jos Buttler on the pads.

Sri Lanka are going to a take a look here...

  4. Eng 193-4published at 34 overs

Four runs off the first five balls of Dushmantha Chameera's over, four runs off the last.

Jos Buttler lumps the seamer over the long-on ropes, sending the ball flying with one hand off the bat.

  6. Eng 185-4published at 33 overs

Ooooh, that's a fair bit of turn.

Sachindu Colombage returns and fires a ball past the off stump of Will Jacks.

That pitched on middle and leg.

At this rate of play Sri Lanka will be soon told to have an extra man inside the circle?

It is a tricky place to average high and score constantly, but today is a day Will Jacks can put a marker down.

  9. Eng 183-4published at 32 overs

Will Jacks starts with three dot balls, pulling a bottom edge onto his gut from the last of those.

He subsequently knocks Dushmantha Chameera for a single behind square to get off the mark - the one run from the over.

Harry Brook deciding to put his foot down and advancing down the crease.

The maturity he has shown in this innings, and accepting the momentum in the 50-over game, but he has gone and given his wicket away.

Every time England have built a good partnership, Sri Lanka have found a way to get another wicket.

I'm blaming Peter (15:00 BST) for that, frankly.

Harry Brook flays Dushmantha Chameera out to the cover ropes, where Dilshan Madushanka barely has to move before taking the catch.

If that was an attempted change of pace then it very much didn't come off.

  12. Eng 182-3published at 31 overs

Jos Buttler sweeps Dunith Wellalage's opening delivery down to the ropes at backward square.

That's his second four of the innings.

Brook is a genius. One of the best ever Yorkshire players.

    Peter, Huddersfield

  14. Eng 175-3published at 30 overs

It's still seam at this end as Dushmantha Chameera replaces Asitha Fernando.

He starts with three dot balls to Harry Brook, with the England skipper having a bit of swing to the last of those.

Brook then hares through a run off the following delivery - Jos Buttler initially turns down a second, but a mis-field allows the England pair to come through.

England are in a very good position with two very good batters to take advantage of this position.

It feels like England are accumulating runs for fun and creating a platform to launch.

  17. drinks break

    Eng 172-3published at 29 overs

Jos Buttler starts Dunith Wellalage's over with a couple of twos, reverse sweeping the ball just over a diving backward point then taking another in the off side.

Having come on strike, Harry Brook takes a two of his own, sending the ball out to deep third.

The players are going to take drinks.

  18. How stat?!published at 14:51 BST 22 September

    • 400 runs - Lance Klusener, 1999

That was a chance, in my opinion, hit hard back to Dunith Wellalage by Buttler, of course it was travelling but that would have been a significant catch.

If Buttler was out there, at 161-4, it's a different game. Add a couple of wickets to this score and Sri Lanka will be thinking they can restrict England to 250. Games can change quickly - especially with some brilliance in the field. It changes games.
