Summary

Have your say on England men this summer

    Thanks, Matthew.

Pakistan's players have just trudged off the field at Edgbaston with an air of resignation.

England scored 143 runs in the morning session and have pretty much extinguished Pakistan's hopes of getting anything out of this Test match.

So Andy should probably think about making other plans on Saturday...

We began this session with Andy in Surrey wondering about his day four tickets. He needs some rain, I fear.

Timothy Abraham may be able to give more on that. He's going to take you through lunch and beyond.

It's England's session. Pakistan have made a big effort but not with great results. They have to keep going at it but England are in a good position to keep bossing this Test match.

  4. Lunch - Eng 299-6published at 64 overs

    Lead by 160

Hands go onto heads as the last ball before lunch swings in to Jamie Smith.

There were those two soft dismissals but England have only tightened their grip on this game.

  5. Eng 298-6published at 63 overs

    Smith 47, Atkinson 5

No-one seems in that much of a hurry but they will squeeze one more over in before the break.

  6. Eng 298-6published at 62.4 overs

On second viewing, I am doing Gus Atkinson a disservice. He looked at his bat straight away.

Razaullah's brow furrows as England's number eight edges through the slips.

I'm not even sure if that was hitting the stumps. It was a good ball. It looked good and full.

  8. Not outpublished at 12:56 BST 10 September

I'm not certain Gus Atkinson felt that nick. He looked to be reviewing because he thought it was leg-sidey.

    Either way, he survives.

Forget leg stump. There's a spike...

  10. England reviewpublished at 12:55 BST 10 September

    This one is given lbw!

Gus Atkinson reviews. Was it missing leg? I think it might be.

  11. Eng 294-6published at 62 overs

    Lead by 161

Gus Atkinson survives a tight lbw shout first ball. There are six minutes to go until lunch.

Time is running out for an England batter to get a century in this series.

That's a big moment for Imran. They've brought him in because he can bat a bit and bowl a bit and he's got his first wicket.

Lawrence had slowed down but he had been batting so well...

Bowled him! Inside edge onto the stumps. There's a first Test match wicket for Imran.

Dan Lawrence is furious with himself.

    Lawrence b Imran 65 (Eng 293-6)

Dan Lawrence roars at himself in disgust. The wait for his first Test century goes on.

He has tried to run the ball behind square on the off side but gets an inside edge onto his stumps.

Mohammad Imran has his first Test wicket.

If Pakistan get a draw out of this game it will be like winning the Test series with the way they batted in the first innings.

  17. Eng 289-5published at 61 overs

    Lead by 160

After being hit for four, Razaullah digs one in with a bit more oomph. Jamie Smith chases it and gets a top edge. The result is the same as the delivery earlier in the over - four runs. But there was at least a bit more threat in it.

  18. How's stat?!published at 12:47 BST 10 September

England's batters have been able to leave 33% of Mohammad Ali's deliveries this morning, more than double the overall leave percentage of 14% against pace in this Test match.

With England's lead now at 150 the impatient may be suggesting they could declare this afternoon.

I imagine Joe Root will just want his side to bat, bat and bat some more, however. They certainly won't be pulling out before Dan Lawrence has got to three figures or got out.

Pakistan are in desperate need of a breakthrough because these partnerships are piling up. The pressure will be on their batting line-up again soon.
