This is the type of performance we've been looking for with England for a long while it feels like. The type of performance where, when on top, they really drive it home and take it away from the opponent and not keep the door open in some way Great stuff!

England's lead 315. We're close to tea but with one wicket to take play will continue a little while beyond.

I don't think there's much they can do for that. That's a horrible feeling when it happens.

  7. ouch!

    Eng 447-9published at 87.4 overs

Razaullah Khan push it back of a length and hits Josh Tongue near the crown jewels. Jofra Archer checks on the welfare of his team-mate, who manages to steady himself and takes a few deep breaths.

That was more of a swipe. That can get you get you in a bit of trouble but Jofra Archer hit it like it was a football.

It's good when your bowlers get runs. It lifts the mood and they will be chomping at the bit to get out there and take wickets.

Pakistan's cordon have their hands in their pockets, or cuffs of long sleeve jumpers pulled down.

Josh Tongue fancies a little bit more time batting.

He's happy to see off five dots from Muhammad Abbas before unfurling the kind of cover drive for four a top-order bat would be proud of.

Jofra Archer continues his assault on the Pakistan attack by waspishly smearing Razaullah Khan through the covers for four.

A man dressed in the Hollies as a lobster waves a claw triumphantly.

You just have to laugh that Pakistan are probably going to bat when it's dark out here. It feels like an impending disaster for them with the bat.

They'll hope they can show something in the second innings and they can bat until late tomorrow. They don't want to lose all 10 wickets later today.

  14. Eng 426-9published at 85 overs

    Clinical driving from Josh Tongue.

Mohammad Ali gives him a juicy full toss and it pings off Tongue's bat straight down the ground for four, all along the carpet.

They don't have the metre reader like they do in one-day cricket but I don't think that was as big as Ollie Robinson's six.

  16. 6 runs

    Eng 421-9published at 84.3 overs

A hop and skip and Jofra Archer gives Mohammad Ali a beefy hit over cow corner for six.

Just because Pakistan have been poor, doesn't mean we should just forget conditions of the wickets! It's been difficult to bat on at times, and as a fan I'd also rather have lots of batters getting 50+, than one or two getting 100+ scores.

  18. Eng 415-9published at 84.2 overs

Razaullah Khan definitely has something about him. A touch of Waqar Younis in his action.

I want the youngster, Razaullah, to get a five-for. I love a good story.

  20. Eng 415-9published at 84 overs

Jofra Archer takes on a short ball from Razaullah Khan, and the ball hangs in the air for an age as Azan Awais runs in from deep square.

However, he cannot quite get there in time.

    England lead by 281 runs.
